Chapter 220 - Chapter 220: Fierce Battle with the Ultra-Ancient Pokémon

"That can't be Gengar, right!" Brock exclaimed in shock.

"No way, how could it be that big!" Misty retorted.

"Yeah, it's way too huge. Even brother's Thousand-Year Gengar isn't this big. And this giant Gengar even has strange stripes on its body!"

After saying that, Ash didn't forget to take out the Pokédex to analyze it. Once he confirmed that the ultra-ancient Gengar really was a Pokémon, he suddenly realized something.

Ash turned to look at Misty and Brock, only to find that they had come to the same realization.

"Could it be like the ultra-ancient Dragonite at the lighthouse?!" x3

The three of them shouted in unison, shocked.

The ultra-ancient Gengar ahead suddenly raised both hands, releasing a bizarre dark aura that dyed the sky above black, plunging everything into darkness. The darkness then spread outward, gradually devouring the sky.

"The black darkness that stains the sky… so that's what it meant…" Eve muttered.

...

Pallet Town — Professor Oak's Laboratory

"It's finally appeared… the ultra-ancient Gengar…" Red murmured. All of his Pokémon had gathered around him, and every one of them showed absolute fighting spirit toward the ultra-ancient Gengar, without the slightest hint of fear.

"Red, are you really going alone? Do you want me to contact Gary and Leaf?"

Professor Oak walked over and asked.

"No need, Professor Oak. Gary and Leaf are still busy training. I can handle something like this on my own."

After saying that, Red ignored Professor Oak's attempt to stop him. Together with Kadabra, he used Teleport, instantly transferring all his companions to the front of the ultra-ancient Gengar.

The ultra-ancient Gengar marched forward with heavy steps toward Pallet Town, intending to devour more Pokémon to satisfy its desires.

"Sorry, big guy, but Pallet Town isn't a place where you can run wild!"

As soon as the words fell, Red and his many Pokémon appeared in front of the ultra-ancient Gengar. Before it could react, the Pokémon launched an attack, directly striking its leg and causing it to stiffen in pain for a moment.

To avoid being swallowed by the ultra-ancient Gengar, Red instructed his Pokémon to use ranged moves as much as possible and avoid close combat. This made things difficult for those who preferred fighting up close.

"Brother!"

Ash, who had originally planned to send out his Pokémon to stop it, felt much more at ease after seeing Red appear. In Ash's mind, as long as Red showed up, nothing would go wrong.

Misty and Brock felt the same sense of relief, but Eve, standing to the side, kept his gaze fixed on Red's face, as if trying to recall something.

(I feel like I've seen this face at some research conference before…)

"Boss, this opponent is really something. We actually ran into an ancient ultra-ancient species. These beings are no joke—they've basically grasped a trace of the power of laws."

The Thousand-Year Gengar floating beside Red explained, reminding its companions to stay alert and not underestimate the enemy.

'It's not like we've never challenged ultra-ancient species before!' Charizard said leisurely, opening its mouth and releasing high-temperature flames hot enough to melt rock, instantly forming a pillar of fire that shot toward the ultra-ancient Gengar.

Originally, the ultra-ancient Gengar intended to use its devouring power to neutralize the flames. But after sensing their immense strength, it immediately changed tactics, using Confuse Ray to collide with the fire pillar. An explosion erupted as the two attacks canceled each other out.

"The scent of laws really makes me obsessed…"

The Thousand-Year Gengar said enviously, its eyes spinning eerily as if it had come up with an idea, though it wasn't the time to explain it.

Due to the barrage of attacks, the ultra-ancient Gengar abandoned its plan to head toward Professor Oak's Laboratory. Turning around, it launched a counterattack. A gigantic Shadow Ball instantly formed in its hand and was fired toward the group.

'Don't get cocky!' Charizard roared.

A violet-gold dragon aura enveloped Charizard's body. Bursting with terrifying killing intent, it transformed into a massive energy dragon, flapping its wings as it confronted the incoming Shadow Ball.

Pidgeot and Zapdos exchanged a glance, then both ignited with blue aura flames and simultaneously used Brave Bird, joining Charizard in resisting the massive Shadow Ball.

As the power of the Shadow Ball began to weaken, Beedrill seized the opportunity, rapidly spinning its body like a steel drill and charging forward, piercing through the Shadow Ball with Drill Run.

"Boom—"

In an instant, the massive Shadow Ball was completely destroyed. Red's side remained completely unharmed, still brimming with intense fighting spirit.

Just as the Pokémon were preparing their next move, Kadabra at the rear seemed to sense something and turned to look at the RV emitting a strange golden glow.

Immediately afterward, the Golden Eye with a golden spoon inserted floated out from inside the RV. Under the astonished gazes of Ash's group and Eve, it vanished instantly, and shadows began spreading outward from within.

The shadow gradually took the shape of Alakazam, transforming into an ultra-ancient Alakazam.

(As expected… this one possesses the power I crave!)

Kadabra's burning gaze locked onto the ultra-ancient Alakazam. This wasn't just battle intent—it was a deeper, bone-deep desire.

(I… want the sealed power within it!)

"Another ultra-ancient Pokémon has appeared!" x3

Ash's group exclaimed in shock. The situation had gone far beyond their expectations, leaving them unable to stay calm.

"Are all ultra-ancient Pokémon this ridiculously huge?" Ash complained.

The ultra-ancient Alakazam also bore strange stripes on its body. Seemingly hostile, it immediately attacked the ultra-ancient Gengar upon appearing, swinging its two spoons and unleashing Psychic.

A pitch-black, solidified psychic wave shot toward the ultra-ancient Gengar, which dodged by sidestepping. However, the area struck by Psychic bizarrely formed a large coral-like crust.

"What is that?" Misty asked in surprise.

"It seems Alakazam isn't on our side," Brock judged.

(The power of sealing…)

(The power of devouring…)

Kadabra and the Thousand-Year Gengar turned to look at each other simultaneously, sensing the desire in each other's eyes.

"Kid, looks like you're not so simple-minded after all~" the Thousand-Year Gengar teased.

'I seek that bone-deep power of desire, to defend the glory of the Sorcerer King!' Kadabra declared solemnly, ignoring the Thousand-Year Gengar's confused expression.

As the saying goes, sit back and watch the fight. To avoid harming those who had been swallowed by the ultra-ancient Gengar, Red temporarily ordered his Pokémon not to act rashly, allowing the two ultra-ancient Pokémon to fight and exhaust each other first.

Seeing that Psychic was ineffective, the ultra-ancient Alakazam was about to change tactics, but unexpectedly, the ultra-ancient Gengar moved in, extending its massive tongue to lick Alakazam's face and using Lick.

Disgusted, the ultra-ancient Alakazam immediately used Teleport to move behind Gengar and crossed its spoons, unleashing Psybeam.

Not to be outdone, the ultra-ancient Gengar retaliated with another Confuse Ray.

In an instant, the attacks of the two ultra-ancient Pokémon collided, devouring each other's power and forming a bizarre dimensional rift in the sky above.
