Chapter 65 - Chapter 62 : The Weaver’s Shroud

The heavy silence from Professor Vane's lecture hadn't even dissipated before the screen behind him flickered to life with a new set of data.

This wasn't just a history lesson anymore; it was the Martyrology of the UCC (Unified Council of Cosmos).

"You've seen the cost of a patrol," Professor Vane said, his voice regaining its steel. "Now, let us look at the legends who allowed humanity to even have a home to return to. Let us talk about the Level 300+ Weave Phase Masters."

The Weave of Reality

He tapped the console, and a complex geometric rendering appeared. It showed space not as a vacuum, but as a fabric.

"At Level 300, the Ribbon doesn't just act as a whip or a shield. It becomes a needle. These Masters can perform Space Folding. By vibrating their Ribbons at a specific frequency, they can create 'folds'—distortions in the fabric of the universe that act like invisible walls or crushing traps. To an enemy, it feels like moving through thick syrup or having the ground beneath them suddenly vanish into a five-dimensional pocket."

The Fall of the Zerg Queen

The projection shifted to a terrifying sight. A tear in reality—larger than any Gate the students had ever seen—pulsed with a sickly, organic purple light. From it emerged the Zerg Queen, a bio-mechanical horror from a dying parallel universe. Her presence alone was enough to destabilize the gravity of nearby planets.

"Twenty years ago, the Queen attempted to seed our universe," Vane narrated. "Traditional weapons—lasers, nukes, even antimatter—were being eaten by her hive-mind shield. She was moving toward the Sol system."

The students watched as three Weave Phase Heroes, their names glowing in gold on the screen, detached from the main fleet. They didn't fire cannons. They spun.

Using their Ribbons, they began to weave a Dimensional Shroud. They literally folded the space around the Queen, creating a localized "loop" that kept her trapped in a single cubic kilometer. But the strain of holding a God-tier entity was too much. Their cells began to rupture under the pressure of the space they were bending.

"They knew the math," Vane whispered. "To seal the Queen back into her own universe, they had to collapse the fold while they were still inside it. They became the lock and the key."

The screen flashed white. When the light faded, the Queen was gone, and the three heroes had been pulverized into stardust.

The Fortress at the Void Node

"But the threats aren't always living," Vane continued. He pulled up an image of a Void Node—a swirling hurricane of raw, unformed energy located at the very edge of the universe's border.

A Void Storm was brewing—a phenomenon that could erase entire star systems like ink being washed off a page.

The projection showed a Dreadnought-class Fortress, a massive station inhabited by thousands of soldiers and engineers. As the storm surged, the Fortress didn't retreat. It moved directly into the eye of the hurricane.

"They activated the Repulsion Pulse," Vane explained. "It was an experimental tech that required the station's core to run at 600% capacity. The station acted as a lightning rod, drawing the storm's fury into itself and then detonating to push the storm back into the Void."

The students watched as the Fortress glowed with a blinding blue light. In the final seconds, a transmission from the station commander played: "The line is held. Tell our families the sun will still rise tomorrow."

The station vanished in a silent, beautiful explosion, sending the Void Storm reeling back into the darkness.

The Responsibility of the Strong

The lecture hall was cold. Kaelen looked at his classmates. Leo's hands were shaking; Sora was staring at the deck, her face pale.

"This is why we teach you Game Theory and History," Professor Vane concluded. "In Class 4, you are children. But in the UCC's eyes, you are the future 'Locks and Keys.' If you reach Level 300, you are no longer just a person. You are a component of the universe's defense. Every level you climb brings you closer to a choice: Will you be the one who folds space, or the one who is protected by the fold?"

Reflection in the Dorms

Later that night, the students didn't talk about training. They sat in the common room, the weight of the "Heroes of the UCC" hanging over them.

Kaelen thought about the Fortress. He thought about his own "Compactness." If he were the commander of that station, would his thick threads have been enough to hold the core together?

[ANALYSIS: PROBABILITY OF CORE STABILITY] Redveil whispered. [WITH CURRENT LEVEL 50 THREAD DENSITY: 0.0004%. ADVISING IMMEDIATE FOCUS ON LEVEL 100 STRAND EVOLUTION TO INCREASE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY.]

"I know, Redveil," Kaelen thought. "I know."

Across the room, Mina was looking at a small holographic locket of her family. She looked more determined than ever. The horror of Mars was still there, but it was being replaced by a cold, sharp realization: the universe wasn't just dangerous; it was expensive. And the currency was the lives of the strongest.
