Chapter 4 - The Distance Between Words

Chapter 4: The Distance Between Words

Misunderstandings are quiet.

They don't shout. They whisper.

Meera got busy with internships. Kabir focused on music projects. Calls became shorter. Messages became delayed.

One evening, she saw him talking to another girl from the music club. They were laughing.

Jealousy hurt more than she expected.

"You seem happy," she said coldly later.

"I am," he replied, confused. "Why?"

"Nothing."

But nothing is never nothing.

Small arguments followed. Ego grew. Silence returned—but this time it wasn't safe.

It was painful.

Finally, one night, she said it.

"Maybe we should just stay friends."

The word friends felt heavier than goodbye.

Kabir nodded quietly.

"If that's what you want."

But neither of them slept that night.

Because sometimes, love doesn't end.

It just waits.
