Why would she hold back information that could help people? If she ever had the chance to see the future, she would tell everyone exactly what she saw. She would not keep silent while disaster approached.
She did not know then, could not have known that a time would truly come when she would do exactly what Raven had said.
She would know what to say. And still she would not speak.
Raven smiled again, gentler this time.
"Come," she said. "Let us go to the arena before we miss the duel."
Linda blinked. "The king said I should bring you to him ones we arrived at the capital.."
"The king and queen can wait," Raven interrupted. "There is no stopping what is coming. What we must do now is watch nature take its course."
Then she turned and continued walking toward the arena as though the matter were settled.
Linda remained where she was for a heartbeat longer, staring after her with frustration and dread churning in the pi equal measure. Then, with no better choice, she followed.
