"Don't you dare say that," Jane snapped through her tears. "Don't speak of that prophecy. I'm sure Raven will come and she will see something else, something different, not this. I cannot have my family fighting like this." Her voice trembled, but the desperation in it only deepened.
"You remember what you promised me, Calister. You promised you would help bring my people out of hiding, and you haven't done that yet. How do you intend to do that when you keep letting your children run amok?"
Calister watched her in silence for a moment before answering.
"I know what I promised you," he said, his voice low and steady despite the storm in the room. "And I will keep that promise. But they are two different matters. We are talking about the kingship now." His expression hardened.
