Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: Things That Commonly Happen on the Demon Continent

Dan Feng landed with Roxy in an inconspicuous corner. They were now inside Wind Port.

"So this is Wind Port? It really is rundown," Dan Feng said as he looked around at the surrounding buildings.

The houses all looked quite old, with mottled walls and many damaged spots on the roofs.

Compared to the western port or eastern port they had seen before, this place was practically a slum.

In the books describing regions, the Demon Continent was often described as "utterly dilapidated."

Dan Feng had originally thought this was just exaggeration, but now that he was seeing it with his own eyes, he realized the description was accurate.

It seemed everyone's evaluation of the Demon Continent was surprisingly consistent.

"Yeah, it really is rundown here," Roxy agreed.

"When I first arrived, I actually thought this port was pretty big and impressive. But after I reached Zant Port on the Millis Continent, I completely stopped thinking that."

Dan Feng nodded. During his flight, he had seen Zant Port—it was worlds apart from Wind Port.

If even the port was this dilapidated, it was hard to imagine what the towns farther inland looked like. Were they really all houses made of dirt, just like the books said?

Thinking of this, Dan Feng shook his head and decided not to keep imagining.

After all, seeing is believing. Only by going there in person could he know the truth.

The first thing they needed to do after arriving on this continent was head to the Adventurers' Guild and exchange the currency they carried for local currency.

So, Dan Feng followed Roxy—who was more familiar with the area—and the two of them walked toward the Adventurers' Guild.

Although Roxy hadn't stayed here for long either, she still knew the locations of common shops and the Adventurers' Guild.

Even though this was just a small corner of Wind Port, Roxy could still find her way.

Not long after, Dan Feng and Roxy arrived at the main street of Wind Port.

Just like in other places, there were many people setting up stalls along the street.

On the Demon Continent, grabbing someone else's stall or shop space was forbidden—this was a rule agreed upon by all demon races. Anyone who did so would be blacklisted by every shop and put on the wanted list.

Being on the wanted list on the Demon Continent was miserable. Adventurers here would hunt you to the ends of the earth until you left the Demon Continent.

In this way, Roxy led Dan Feng straight to the Adventurers' Guild in Wind Port.

Seeing the familiar Adventurers' Guild, a complicated look appeared on Roxy's face.

This place was filled with bad memories for her.

Back then, after their party was trapped in a cave by a mana disaster, the captain had stayed behind to buy them time to escape, smashing the falling rocks with his sword.

The captain had collapsed from exhaustion. Just when everyone thought the crisis was over, a massive boulder crushed Roxy's captain—he died on the spot.

Originally, this adventurer party had been led by him. After his death, the party that had existed for many years was disbanded at the Wind Port Adventurers' Guild. The remaining three went their separate ways.

Roxy chose to leave this sorrowful Demon Continent, while the other two disappeared without a trace.

Noticing that Roxy's mood was off, Dan Feng asked with a hint of concern, "What's wrong, Roxy? Did you remember something unpleasant?"

Dan Feng naturally knew Roxy had bad memories on the Demon Continent. Even if she didn't want to talk about them, her current expression told him this place was definitely one of them.

Roxy shook her head, then took Dan Feng's hand and walked into the Adventurers' Guild.

The familiar front desk, the familiar crowd of mostly demon race adventurers.

They went straight to the counter to exchange currency. Dan Feng took out his money pouch—he kept some gold coins in it.

He took out about fifty Millis gold coins and placed them on the counter. Then, using the Demon God Language he had only recently learned, he spoke to the staff.

"Please exchange these gold coins for local currency," Dan Feng said to the staff member.

The staff member saw so many gold coins and didn't dare slack off with this wealthy customer. She immediately ducked under the counter.

Under Dan Feng's puzzled gaze, the staff member slowly brought out a large chest.

When opened, it was filled with at least several hundred green coins.

The currency on the Demon Continent was the least valuable. There were four types: stone coins, scrap iron coins, iron coins, and—highest in value—green ore coins, which still weren't worth as much as a single Asura large copper coin.

The chest was now filled with green ore coins—the highest-value currency on the Demon Continent.

Fifty Millis gold coins could actually be exchanged for this much money.

Some demon race adventurers in the guild stared wide-eyed at the chest full of green ore coins. They had never seen so much money in their lives.

Even completing commissions only barely kept them fed.

So some of them started having crooked ideas.

A little girl and a young-looking man—they seemed like easy targets to bully.

Roxy, of course, knew exactly what happened when someone flaunted wealth in public on the Demon Continent. But it didn't matter—Dan Feng would naturally handle it. After all, this was the kind of thing that commonly happened on the Demon Continent.

Dan Feng also sensed those unfriendly stares, but he was curious to see what they would do. Would it still be the usual three tactics: threats, intimidation, and murder for treasure?

"Dan Feng, be careful. Some things that commonly happen on the Demon Continent might occur next," Roxy quietly reminded him in Human Language.

"I know. But in a place like Wind Port, can we act freely?" Dan Feng asked, looking at Roxy with slight confusion.

Roxy gave a small smile and lowered her voice to explain, "In theory, yes. But in practice, almost no one does it openly—because doing so would immediately reveal your true nature, making others wary afterward."

"So most of the time, people choose to tail their target first, then make their move once they reach a deserted alley."

Dan Feng nodded thoughtfully after hearing this, indicating he understood.

Then he took some green ore coins from the chest and put them into his money pouch.

After that, he turned to Roxy and said, "Put the chest back into the storage scroll."

Roxy did as he said and stored the chest inside her storage scroll.

At that moment, those who had been watching from a distance suddenly saw the function of the storage scroll—a magic tool. Their eyes instantly lit up with greed, like starving wolves seeing fresh meat. The avarice practically spilled out of their eye sockets.

Dan Feng and Roxy naturally noticed the change in these people. After exchanging a glance, they tacitly decided not to confront them right away. Instead, they left the Adventurers' Guild first to see what would happen.

After leaving the Adventurers' Guild, Dan Feng and Roxy strolled along the street, taking in the unique desolate atmosphere of the Demon Continent.

As they walked, they spotted a human-run food stall. Tempting aromas drifted over from it.

"How about we grab something to eat here?" Dan Feng suggested.

Roxy readily agreed. The two walked to the food stall, bought some food, and began eating.
