Chapter 141 - Chapter 141: Greedy Demons

The two, now full from their meal, prepared to first find a place to stay in Wind Port and, while at it, see if those demon adventurers would make a move.

Speaking of inns, Roxy unhesitatingly led Dan Feng toward the inn where she had stayed before.

During that time, the amount of time Roxy spent at the inn was extremely little—basically only returning at night to rest. The rest of the time, she was busy in Wind Port taking on all sorts of ordinary requests to save up enough fare for a ship.

After all, the ship fare for demons was outrageously high. For her, after her adventurer party disbanded, paying 2 green ore coins for passage was simply an impossible dream.

That inn was located in a relatively remote corner, but it was one Roxy had carefully selected after much consideration—cheap price, and the environment was still fairly clean and tidy.

Just like that, the two slowly walked along the street and eventually turned into a narrow alley.

However, right as they had just entered the alley, the demon adventurers who had been following them from afar suddenly stopped in their tracks.

They exchanged glances, their eyes seeming to convey some sort of message, then, without prior agreement, they lightened their footsteps and cautiously followed.

When these demon adventurers reached the entrance of the alley and peeked inside, they were shocked to discover that Dan Feng and Roxy had mysteriously vanished within such a short distance.

"What the hell is this? How could two living people just vanish into thin air on such a long path?" one of the demon adventurers cried out in alarm, his face full of disbelief.

He widened his eyes, looking all around, desperately trying to find any possible clue—like somewhere they could hide or enter.

"Captain, what do we do? They're gone."

Hearing this, the others all turned their gazes toward the dog-headed demon.

"Search. This path isn't that big—I refuse to believe they got away," the dog-headed demon said slowly.

"No need to search. I'm right here." Dan Feng's icy voice rang out from behind them.

Thanks to their adventurers' vigilance, the moment Dan Feng's voice sounded, they immediately retreated backward and turned around.

At this moment, Dan Feng held Cloud-Piercer in his hand, while Roxy stood at a distance behind him.

"When did he get behind us?!" The demon adventurers were greatly shocked, but then they remembered their own numbers and regained their composure.

The dog-headed demon looked at Dan Feng—this fair-skinned human—and bared his yellowish teeth as he said, "We just want to borrow some money from you to spend. Hand over all the money you just exchanged and that scroll, and you can leave with that kid."

"Captain, isn't this fair-skinned human male your favorite type? Why let him go?" one demon adventurer asked in confusion, looking at the dog-headed demon.

"You idiot, why'd you say that out loud? If I didn't say that, would he hand it over willingly?" The dog-headed demon slapped the interrupting demon, then dropped his playful expression and stared intently at Dan Feng.

Dan Feng stood there expressionlessly, his gaze like freezing ice as he coldly fixed it on the demons before him.

His right hand moved slightly, adjusting Cloud-Piercer to the optimal position. Cloud-Piercer seemed to have fused completely with his body.

"Really, no matter where you go, there are always these self-important types." Dan Feng's voice was calm and indifferent.

However, before his words even finished, his figure suddenly moved like a gale, instantly charging toward the demons in front.

Cloud-Piercer drew a sharp arc through the air, carrying powerful gusts as it fiercely rushed toward the group of demon adventurers.

Wherever the spear tip passed, the air seemed to be torn apart by Cloud-Piercer, emitting a piercing whistling sound.

Immediately after, a powerful storm was whipped up by Cloud-Piercer and instantly surged toward the group of demon adventurers.

The storm carried something akin to sword qi sliced out by the spear tip, crashing down like a raging torrent onto the group of demon adventurers.

With a massive boom, all the demon adventurers were struck by an invisible colossal force, their bodies involuntarily flying backward.

The one at the very front—the demon who had just been slapped by the dog-headed demon—bore the brunt of it.

His body was directly torn in half by the storm unleashed from Cloud-Piercer. Scarlet blood sprayed out like a fountain from his severed waist, splashing onto the ground and forming a shocking pool of gore.

The other demon adventurers' bodies also suffered varying degrees of cuts and scrapes on the surface.

But that intense storm seemed to have already shattered their internal organs. Their bodies rolled on the ground as they groaned in agony.

Dan Feng gave them no chance at all. After killing one, he immediately charged toward the second.

Seeing this, Roxy promptly used fire magic to incinerate the already-dead demon completely, preventing the alley from being stained with the bloody stench and turning into a necromancer's playground (zombies).

In the blink of an eye, six of the seven adventurers were dead, leaving only the last one—the captain, the dog-headed demon.

"I don't dare…" The dog-headed demon had just started to say something when Cloud-Piercer pierced straight through his heart. He died with a look of regret on his face.

Dan Feng had heard such words countless times already. Knowing full well he wouldn't spare them, yet still saying such things—so he killed him without hesitation, sparing himself from hearing the same tiresome line again.

Roxy, without hesitation, swiftly cast fire magic. Blazing flames erupted instantly, devouring all the demons' corpses and scarlet bloodstains completely.

In the blink of an eye, the scene was left with nothing but charred black marks, as if no battle had ever taken place here.

"Things like killing for treasure are perfectly ordinary on the Demon Continent. Those who lack sufficient strength yet still flaunt their wealth in public will inevitably be targeted by others with ill intentions," Roxy explained calmly to Dan Feng, already long accustomed to such things.

Hearing this, Dan Feng felt a surge of curiosity. He turned to Roxy and asked, "Then, Roxy, have you ever experienced something like this?"

Roxy was slightly stunned, seemingly not expecting Dan Feng to suddenly ask this, but she quickly recovered and shook her head in denial. "I haven't encountered anything like that myself."

However, right after saying it, Roxy seemed to suddenly recall something. After thinking carefully, she said, "Though, now that I think about it, it seems our adventurer party once ran into a similar situation together."

Dan Feng followed up, "Oh? And what happened after that?"

Roxy replied casually, "Afterward? Those people were all killed by Drew."

"Drew?" Dan Feng found the name somewhat unfamiliar and asked in confusion, "Who's that?"

"He was the captain of my previous adventurer party. He always liked to call himself Hakendrew," Roxy explained.

"Oh." Dan Feng nodded thoughtfully.

And so, the two continued chatting idly as they leisurely made their way toward the inn Roxy had mentioned.
