The office door clicked shut behind Christina's dramatic exit, leaving only the soft hum of the air conditioning and the calm intimacy between us.
Everyone had left and just remaining me and Stephan I stood up and wrapped my hands around him before he could speak
I stayed wrapped in Stephan's arms for a moment longer, my cheek pressed against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
I tilted my head up to look at him, a small, playful smile tugging at my lips.
"Since I just saved you from a potentially disastrous project… You should take me somewhere nice as a reward."
Stephan's eyebrows rose slightly, but the corner of his mouth curved into that rare, warm smile I was starting to crave. "Oh? And where exactly does my wife want to go?"
I bit my lip, suddenly shy. "I… I don't know. Somewhere… lovely. I don't really have a specific place in mind."
