I walked into the school grounds giggling from excitement. Yesterday had been unexpectedly fun, and now I was heading in for what I hoped would be good news from Professor Anderson.
My steps were light, the memory of Stephan's warm embrace and the beautiful coastal escape still lingering like a sweet aftertaste.
(Host… don't you notice eyes are on you?)
I paused at once and turned. Students were staring, some whispering behind their hands, others openly gawking. The atmosphere felt charged, almost hostile.
"She is the one."
"Yeah, she must be the one."
"It's like her body structure… she must be the one because she is loose."
I ignored the words, even though the system's interference made their judgmental eyes feel heavier than usual. I kept walking into the building, but the stares only intensified.
"Oh, she must be the one.. same hair… and body style."
