Keith Vanderbilt was still furious over the resistance Sarah had shown him that morning. Ever since he returned from meeting and arguing with her, he had been completely unable to focus on his work. The irritation simmering inside him only grew stronger every minute, gnawing at his patience and destroying his concentration until all he could do was grind his teeth and release rough breaths under his breath. The documents spread across his office desk remained untouched for nearly an hour while his thoughts replayed Sarah's cold expression again and again inside his head.
Especially the way she looked at him. Sarah had never looked at him like that before. There had been no hesitation in her eyes, no softness, no guilt, and certainly no fear. She had stood in front of him with her chin lifted stubbornly while defending Jayden Lin as though Keith was the unreasonable one. The memory alone was enough to make his blood boil all over again.
