Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: Two People's Fried Potato Balls

Even though he was uneasy, Tenraku knew that what he needed to do most now was to learn the common language of the mainland and understand the situation in this world.

Therefore, he could only suppress his inner unease and, while getting closer to Meteria, rapidly absorbed knowledge.

In any world, 'knowledge' can play a role equal to 'power'.

"You've been in Orario for over two weeks now. Want to go out for a walk?"

To ensure Tenraku could hear her clearly, Meteria spoke very slowly.

Tenraku knew too little, so Meteria could only guess that Tenraku had been brought here by someone inexplicably, and was from a remote country.

Therefore, he should be very curious about this city, Orario, which is known as the center of the world.

"Is it alright?"

Tenraku asked with concern.

During this time, Tenraku had come to know how frail Meteria's body was; she would be out of breath after just a few steps.

Meteria doesn't go out often, and her three meals a day are delivered to her door by 'takeout', so she doesn't go hungry even if she doesn't go out.

This was much more substantial than the first loaf of bread, so it seems that day really was an accident.

Even now, Tenraku is still marveling at how wonderful it was to have met Meteria.

"It's okay, I'm not that weak."

Meteria chuckled softly.

Seeing Meteria's cheerful expression, Tenraku said no more, and he was indeed full of curiosity about this world.

Although the lack of a corresponding 'translation' prevented Tenraku from becoming aware of this world for a long time, he did feel a sense of familiarity with it.

Based on what I saw on my first day in Orario, there weren't many people using magic on the streets, nor were there any magicians flying in the sky on magical devices.

Everyone walks, except occasionally someone who can run faster than a cheetah.

The skilled adventurers we encountered on the road didn't have the aura of 'strongmen'; instead, they seemed like petty thugs. Clearly, this was just a small, ordinary city.

Even in small cities, there are quite a few subhuman races.

Long-eared elves, various beastmen with keen senses, including cat people, dog people, werewolves, pig people, tiger people, fox people, and so on.

There are also the dwarves who were about 100 centimetres tall, the dwarves who are relatively wide but not short, and the Amazons who dress boldly.

He even encountered several terrifyingly handsome people, so beautiful they seemed inhuman, who, despite their smiles, sent chills down his spine like Cthulhu.

Almost none of these people from another world are easy to get along with, so it's incredibly rare to find someone as simple-minded as Meteria.

Tenraku felt that he should know information about this world.

Now that we can communicate to a general extent using language, it is also necessary to actively learn about the world.

"Then let's go."

Tenraku made some preparations and then went out with Meteria.

She wore a black Lolita dress, her white hair was slightly curled, and she always had a gentle smile on her face, making her look like a flower.

"The air is nice."

As Tenraku felt the fresh air, he could roughly guess that this world probably didn't have a very complex industrial system.

The two crossed a street and soon arrived at the main road.

Tenraku looked around. Although it was novel, it was nothing special.

There were no weapons or strange props displayed in various places; instead, there were mostly everyday items.

For example, grains, fruits, and meat.

Occasionally, you'll pass by a few taverns, where many adventurers carrying weapons come and go.

Ultimately, there were no spectacular sights like Sky Island, World Tree, or 10,000-meter waterfalls. After the initial novelty wore off, there was no longer any reason to look forward to it.

Apart from the distant Tower of Babel, it is far less magnificent than modern architecture.

"What do you think of this city?"

Meteria looked at Tenraku with curiosity.

Tenraku was not familiar with the surrounding streets, but he did not seem too surprised by the city.

If Tenraku really came from a remote area, he shouldn't be behaving like this.

Curiosity was growing in Meteria's eyes regarding Tenraku.

"It's alright, it's quite novel."

Tenraku said casually.

Because there were many people around, Tenraku had to be careful that Meteria wouldn't be bumped into by others, so he was extra cautious.

Looking at Tenraku like this, Meteria felt a warm feeling in her heart. She smiled playfully and hugged Tenraku's arm.

She could feel his body tremble slightly, and then, meeting Tenraku's gaze, Meteria gave an innocent look and said, "Be careful, don't get separated."

Although she left room for manoeuvre and her warm embrace didn't lean on Tenraku, the two looked like lovers at that moment.

Thinking about this, and looking into Tenraku's eyes, Meteria blushed slightly and loosened her grip on Tenraku.

But the next moment, she felt Tenraku's hand grasp hers and their fingers intertwined.

"Don't get separated."

Following Meteria's words, Tenraku smiled gently.

Completely different from before, this hand-in-hand gesture on the street... felt like being surrounded by a crowd of people offering their blessings.

Meteria's face turned bright red, but she didn't pull her finger away. Instead, she lowered her head and moved even closer to Tenraku.

The two strolled slowly down the street, not exchanging a word, but there was no awkwardness between them.

The warmth is transmitted between the palms, and silence speaks louder than words.

"Huh, have we already arrived here?"

Meteria suddenly stopped and looked ahead.

Meeting Meteria's gaze, Tenraku spotted a small stall.

'Those are... Fried potato balls?'

Tenraku was stunned for a moment.

"Fried potato balls, this is one of my favourite snacks."

Meteria smiled sweetly.

She pulled Tenraku over, ordered two portions, and when it came time to pay, she had to let go of his hand.

At this moment, both Tenraku and Meteria felt a sense of loss.

They glanced at each other instinctively, then paused for a moment before bursting into laughter at the same time.

This also suggests that the two have already developed a considerable level of understanding.

Tenraku thought to herself.

After Meteria bought the potato balls, the two walked side by side on the road again.

Feeling Meteria's hand brush against Tenraku's, Tenraku understood and grasped her hand again.

Meteria didn't reply, or even look at Tenraku; her face was simply flushed.

She carefully took a bite of the fried potato ball, her elegant and cute manner melting Tenraku's heart.

"How about it?"

Meteria smiled at Tenraku and urged, "Quickly, try it and see how it tastes."

"It tastes great!"

Tenraku took a bite; it wasn't greasy at all, and the taste was indeed excellent.

"Miss Meteria...is it Miss Meteria?"

After wandering around for a while, a male voice came from the side.

The two turned to look at a boy with red eyes. He looked at them with disbelief and an unconcealable sense of defeat.

'Meteria's suitor?'
