Chapter 66 - Chapter 64. Hello

Lyan

I was so happy Fluffy was back that I couldn't stop hugging him, fearing that he'd get lost again.

" Hah" I heard Oscar laughing from the door and I turned to glare at him. Just what about this situation did he think was funny?

" I'm glad you found him" Orus said, but he kept his distance with Fluffy, not getting too close to him.

I glared at all of them and picked up Fluffy, running to my room. Why couldn't they just be happy for him? Why couldn't they accept him?

" Are you okay?" Jack knocked on my door, not entering without permission as usual, which I appreciated.

" I'm fine!" I screamed, hugging Fluffy in my bed.

Jack went away and didn't knock anymore and I stayed there, hugging Fluffy against my chest until sleep finally took me.

The next day I woke up late and ate the food my guys had provided me as a peace offering while giving a little bit to Fluffy. His food had unfortunately expired so I would have to buy more, and soon. Fluffy ate as if he was ten times his size, which would be funny if the food wasn't so expensive.

" What do you want to do today?" Mark asked when we were all watching a shitty program on the TV, my anger at them gone. I understood not liking a family member, so I could understand them, even if it hurt.

I stared at Mark, not Oscar, I knew it because he was actually behaving for once and smiled.

" How about we go play hide and seek?"

My guys looked at each other confused but nodded. Since Oscar, the only one who knew about my night escapades, was not here right now I could try to go to the library to do some research, though I had already done that and found nothing I still had hope that it would work.

" Okay. Mark seeks and we hide" I said, pointing at Mark.

I felt bad when he nodded and smiled. I had chosen him because he was the least likely to cheat and use his magic or senses to find me, which would win me some time.

" Until what number do I have to count?"

" Fifty" I said, already heading to the door after leaving Fluffy on the floor with strict instructions to not go away from my room.

Oscar and Orus tried to run and hide with me, but I turned them down fast. While they were pouting and begging me to change my mind I quickly disappeared, getting into the library when no one was looking.

I glanced at all the books and sighed. This would be a looong day.

A day later

After Mark had found me three hours later in the library, ignoring them and doing research that didn't get me anywhere he had been pissed and had ignored me for a while. After Orus and Jack had found out that I wasn't playing with them, more like I was actively ignoring them, they had all pouted for a whole day and had refused to leave my side, which was kind of, very, annoying.

After that waste of time that had been yesterday we were laying on the couch, not doing anything at all while I planned how to best gaslight the guys into doing my bidding and getting what I wanted, but life, as always, had other plans.

" Could all the students get to the main hall?" A voice I had heard before, but couldn't quite pinpoint who it belonged to, crackled in the speakers, waking us up from our mid-morning nap.

" What is that about?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.

My guys shrugged and I sighed. Great, another surprise announcement. Well, at least now I'd get to know who the new dean was.

I got up from the couch and we slowly walked up to the main hall, where apparently they liked to do all the announcements, and waited for the new dean to appear.

My mouth hung open with surprise when I saw who the new dean was. It was Maura, still walking weird and speaking slowly, but she was speaking.

" How is that possible?" I asked Mark, really curious to know how she had grown a tongue that Oscar had sworn would never grow again.

" Oscar says he doesn't know" Mark said with a shrug.

I stared at Maura and decided to let it go. Somethings were just possible and that was it.

" There have been many incidents lately" Maura began speaking, her voice low and coarse, filled with stops and nothing like what I remembered, but her voice nonetheless." Lots of demons have decided to attack recently and as you know a great number of mages and humans have already lost their lives" Her voice got low and she got quiet for a few seconds, in respect for all the dead. " As a result we've decided that this situation can't continue. From now on a small portion of you will be deployed to fight in the breach to keep those monsters away from us and our loved ones"

Murmurs erupted everywhere. I looked at my guys and they too were as pale as a sheet of paper. All of us were filled with fear. I didn't want to go back there. If I did dad would surely make me go back to the castle, and that was the last thing I wanted.

" Will everyone have to go?" A brave soul asked.

" Of course not. Only second and third years will have to go"

Her words made all the freshmen breath a sigh of relief.

I looked at my guys and smiled. This didn't concern us at all. We went back to our room and continued lounging around, not caring about anything else but the couch and on the guys case trying to get in my pants, but I shut that down real fast. I wasn't on the mood after they had looked at Fluffy like that and if I was been honest I was still kinda pissed about that.

A week later

I had tried to find information, any kind at all about a spell to take things away from their rightful place, but still hadn't had any breakthroughs.

The library didn't have any information and no matter where I looked I couldn't seem to find it. I had even tried to go back to the secret room where I had found the journal that last time when my guys were too busy buying me chocolate flavored candy, a ruse to get them away from me, but one that worked specially well when they came back with what I had asked, but the place was deserted, as if they had noticed my snooping and had changed everything.

Even the flower field, the one I liked the best, was gone, the entrance no longer visible or accessible.

Snooping around I realized that they really knew about me and that if I wanted my plan to steal right from their noses to work I would have to be more stealthy.

I was thinking just about how I could go to see a shaman, the Internet promised that she could solve all of my problems and although I wasn't stupid enough to fall for that I had to try it out at least, when all of the sudden the main doors bursted open and my guys and me turned to look, all of our bodies ready to run or fight.

" Help!!" The screams that had been covered by the wall suddenly became clear once the door opened.

All the second and third years that had gone off to fight the demons not that long ago had come back in tatters if at all. All of them had dried blood all over their bodies and some of them were missing limbs, the worse of them not having half their bodies.

Bile rose up in my chest as I looked at them, paralyzed. I couldn't believe dad had done that. I knew he was a little bit unhinged, but I hadn't thought him capable of doing that.

Who was I kidding? I totally saw him doing all that I was just ashamed to have the kind of person? demon? being? that could murder without a second thought as my father, although if I was been honest it didn't bother me nearly as much as I knew it should. Oscar was just the same and I loved him nonetheless.

I was a bad person. I could forgive anyone as long as they loved me and treated me well.

My initial shock eventually died down and I ran to help, followed by Orus and Jack, who had stayed behind, unlike Mark, and had been waiting to see what I'd do before acting. It was sweet, but they could've thought that I would like to save lives, not that I blamed them. They just wanted to make sure they wouldn't go against my wishes which was so fucking hot.

I gathered all my magic into my hands and tried to remember the healing spell.

My brain was fried and I didn't remember it, but the medics that had run to help as soon as they'd seen the blood did help. It reminded me of the spell.

As soon as I had it I began trying to heal to the best of my abilities, which wasn't much. Seeing me trying to help my guys went in too.

Mark was already treating a guy missing half his leg and Orus and Jack went to help. Orus tried to heal a minor scratch but couldn't, his magic rejecting the healing, but Jack just waved his hand and aether spread all over the hallway, healing everything it touched.

Not long after all the students that seemed half dead or dead were fine, their wounds closed and no longer bleeding. I looked at Jack and gave him my best smile, thanking him silently. I'd have to do something to reward him later.

As I was thinking about what to give him, which included no clothes and a rope, I saw a student that had stayed on the back come to the front, his black hair eating all the light.

I looked into his black eyes and shuddered, walking away.

What the fuck was Ruan doing here? Had he come to betray me and bring me back to dad?

I glared at him but Ruan got closer, walking up to me. My guys sorrounded me and created a barrier between him and me. I wanted to scream to everyone that he wasn't human, but he surely looked the part right now, his horns gone and his dark aura no longer visible.

" What are you doing here?" I asked in a soft voice.

I was betting everything I had on the fact that he had yet to attack and that he was apparenting to be a human, although I didn't know the exact reason why I was sure he didn't want to attract attention to him, which worked on my favor.

" Have you really forgotten about your own roommate? How hurtful" Ruan took his hand to his chest, as if he was offended, but his eyes shone with malice as he glared at me.

Just what was he playing at?
