" What do you mean roommate?" I asked hiding behind my guys.
" Did you really forget?" Ruan pouted, his lips forming a sad smile.
" You're not our roommate!" Orus screamed, grabbing my shoulders and hiding me protectively.
Ruan's eyes shone and he smiled, all his sharp teeth showing.
" That's not how anyone remembers it" He whispered into our ears. " So if I were you I would listen to me"
I clenched my teeth and looked at Ruan. Just what was he playing at? What did he do?
" Just what do you think you're doing?" Orus snapped his head his way and walked slowly up to him, a sadistic smile on his lips." Do you want to die?"
Ruan just looked at him and smiled. Then he started ignoring him and turned to face me again.
" Let's go to our room, shall we"
The gleam in Ruan's eyes sent shivers down my spine. I slowly backed away and clinged closer to Mark, who was holding me with all his strength.
" How about you get your own room?" I didn't have high hopes that he would listen to what I had said, but I had to try at least.
" No, I like ours best"
Ruan's smile gave me the creeps. I looked at my guys and saw that all of them were eyeing Ruan with hate too, ready to destroy him to pieces. Seeing them ready to fight for me made my heart go thump.
I looked at Ruan and his hatred in his eyes and decided something. He had tried to protect us, he had taken us back home risking father's wrath, so if he was doing this right now it would probably have something to do with father. This was probably his punishment and I wasn't going to make it harder for him.
The more I thought about it, still in the middle of the hall, the more sense everything made. Ruan had tried to protect us and now dad had sent him to spy on me or bring me back, I really couldn't tell what he was supposed to be doing here, but it wasn't really his fault.
A smile spread across my lips as I thought about it. That had to be it, there were no other options.
Though that reasoning made sense in my mind there was something off in Ruan's eyes that told me that wasn't the whole truth and that he was not very happy with me, though I had no idea why he wasn't happy. I had done all he had asked for and he hadn't seemed this mad at me even when I had told him that my dad was cheating on him, so why now? Why get mad now?
" Very well" I smiled. Regardless of why Ruan was here he had helped us, so we could at least let him in, but that didn't mean I'd trust him, not at all.
Ruan looked at me with curiosity in his eyes, as if wondering why I had suddenly changed my mind, but that emotion quickly shifted into something very close to disdain and anger.
" Great" Ruan smiled at us as he looked into our eyes, never breaking eye contact. " Won't you show me to our room?" Ruan asked in a soft and deep voice.
" I thought you knew where it was. It is your room, isn't it?" Jack asked, trying to get Ruan off of us, which if it would work would be great news, but I highly doubted this kind of petty trick would work on a demon.
" Well, don't you forget things sometimes?" Ruan asked in an innocent tone.
" Not where I live, I don't" Jack crossed his arms, pissed.
Ruan just smiled and walked away, disappearing when he turned a corner.
" What was that about?" Mark asked in my ear.
I shrugged and we all stared at the spot where Ruan had been just mere seconds ago.
" Let's go to our room" I hearded my guys out of there, but while I was trying Orus broke free and ran to the hurt students who were still sitting in the hallway.
" Where did you get hurt?" Orus asked them bluntly.
I glared at him but kept my distance. How could he just ask that to a person that had just gotten hurt?
" We were ambushed while we were going to the breach" A blond guy who was missing an arm said, his voice surprisingly steady.
" Where exactly?"
" A few days away from here, in that direction" The hurt guy pointed to where I guessed the North was, his finger trembling slightly while he did.
Orus didn't even thank him as he came back, his face ashen.
" What was that about?" I asked him, confused.
" Didn't it seem weird to you that there was a demon attack and then Ruan, a demon, appeared?"
Now that Orus mentioned it it did seem weird and way more than just a coincidence.
" What are you saying?" I asked, a rock sinking in my stomach.
My face grew ashen the more I thought about it. All the pieces of the puzzle were right in front of me, but I didn't know what they meant. Could it mean that dad was coming and had found a way out of whatever was keeping him in Jinasia?
I shook my head and let it go. There was no way to know the truth with the little information I had.
I grabbed my guy's hands and headed to my room while frowning when I looked down at myself. I would have to take a loooong shower. I was covered in blood and other substances I would rather not think about.
" I'm going to go take a shower" I told my guys as soon as I entered, already taking off my jacket.
" So this is our room, huh?"
The moment we heard Ruan's voice we all snapped out heads his way, where he was smiling from the door with his arms folded.
" I thought it'd be bigger" He said while he waltzed in, looking around and touching everything.
My cheeks heated up and anger rose. How dare he touch all my stuff without asking on top of intruding into our house?
" Get out!" I screamed while my shadows rose, launching at Ruan.
Ruan laughed and didn't even pretend to dodge as he used his own power and black smoke rose from his skin to go up against my shadows, stopping them and pushing them away.
" Don't worry" Ruan said with a smile as he opened the door that led to our rooms and started walking to our rooms." I don't care about your kinky sex life"
I blushed as he laughed and continued walking, grabbing the handle of my door.
" Where do you think you're going?" Orus grabbed Ruan by the collar and pulled him away, or tried to. Ruan just stood there, unmoved as he looked at Orus with amusement and superiority in his eyes.
" This is my house too. I'm just trying to get to know it" Ruan shrugged as he grabbed Orus's hand and twisted it, forcing Orus to let go with a swear. " Now could you show me to my room?" Ruan turned to look at me, hatred in his eyes.
" You have no room" I crossed my arms, glaring at him just like he was glaring at me.
" We'll see about that" Was all Ruan said before massive amounts of power rolled off his body, gathering at the end of the room.
The wall started deforming and it bended and bended under invisible weight until it finally gave in and a new room was formed out of nowhere.
I stared at the new door that had Ruan engraved on it in good lettering as Ruan smiled at us and skipped as he went to his new room and opened the door.
I wanted his room. I really did. His room was almost a replica of what mine had been back at the demon castle. It was big enough to fit three whole rooms in it and had a built-in bathroom and a built-in closet. It was one of if the few things I had missed from the demon realm. It was really comfortable. Even the floor looked comfy to sleep in, much less she bed that seemed to be made of clouds.
I greeted my teeth while I looked at it. I wanted it. I could feel that my guys were tense too, all their muscles in tension. I looked at them and realized they were looking back at me, looking for my emotions to match their actions up with them. It was so sweet that for a few seconds I managed to forget that I wanted that room.
" Are you jelous?" Ruan asked me with a smug smile as he looked at me as if he had won the lottery.
I looked at him and snorted.
" Of course not" I lied as I turned to open my own room, nowhere nearly as pretty as his. I wanted his to be my own.
" I'll give you this room if you go back to the demon realm. I'll give you even better clothes, a better room and you'll be able to do whatever you please however you please"
So this was what he was after. He wanted to bring me back to Jinasia so that I could be with my dad. If my dad had been the one to come begging for me and if he had promised not to kill my guys then maybe, and just maybe, I could have let go of my obsession with my family and could have just stayed with the people that cared about me, but that hadn't been the case.
I glared at Ruan, who was trying to hide the desperation in his eyes with a wicked smile that I could see right through and then smiled at him myself.
" No thank you. I'm fine, are you doing this because you're jealous that the people I love love me back, unlike you?"
Ruan's face twisted in anger and he looked at me with murder in his eyes. He walked closer to me, to do what I didn't know, but I knew it wasn't anything nice by the gleam in his eyes, but stopped on his tracks once he saw Fluffy, who was standing between us, protecting me.
I ran to him and hugged him, pulling him away from Ruan.
Ruan just stood there, looking at Fluffy with wide eyes and then he lost it. He fell to the ground while laughing maniacally and pulling on his hair, strands of dark black hair falling into the floor.
Was he alright?
My concern grew as I saw him trailing Fluffy with his eyes, never pulling them away from his as he continued laughing hysterically.
" Are you okay?" I asked him. Even though we weren't exactly friends he had helped us and he wasn't an enemy either.
" Where did you find him?" Ruan asked, all his laugher gone and only a derranged smile remaining.
I looked at Fluffy and smiled.
" He found me" I hugged Fluffy tighter when I saw Ruan getting up and walking up to us, his steps heavy with resolve.
"Hello there, little buddy" Ruan kneeled to be at Fluffy's eye level and then he looked at me. " Can I pet him?"
I didn't see why he couldn't. He definitely didn't seem like he would hurt Fluffy, it was more as if he was afraid for whatever reason and Fluffy was happy seeing that someone was paying attention to him, his tiny tail moving up and down in rhythm with the vibrations of his little body in my arms.
" Of course. I think he likes you" I said, a smile on my lips.
I was no longer on guard against Ruan. He had calmed down since he had seen Fluffy, the cuteness must've changed his mind and I appreciated the fact that he cared about my pet.
Ruan smiled and started petting Fluffy, his hand moving up and down his fur with care.
" Who's a pretty boy?" Ruan asked while he petted Fluffy, his eyes shining with mischieve for whatever reason.
" Don't you want to pet him too?" I asked the guys, but one by one they said no.
Orus touched my shoulder and remained behind me, always my silent guardian. Mark smiled and got closer but said he didn't want to and Jack shook his head from his position leaning against the new door, ready to snoop inside as soon as he got the chance, which he had been trying to do while Ruan was too busy fawning over Fluffy to pay him any attention.
" Isn't he the prettiest?" I asked Ruan, a smile on my lips.
" Yeah, the prettiest" Ruan smirked while he touched Fluffy's little paw and went boop.
Fluffy's eye twitched for whatever reason and he growled at Ruan, trying to bite his hand, but Ruan was faster and pulled away just in time to avoid been bitten.
" We don't do that to friends" I scolded Fluffy, who just tilted his head and licked me." Well, I'll forgive you for now"
" You think he likes me?" Ruan snorted.
" Of course. His little butty moved up and down with excitement when he saw you"
Ruan's eyes shone and he took his hand to his mouth, trying to hide the genuine smile that was forming on his lips.
" Sure" Ruan said, his hand once again on Fluffy's fur." Just promise me one thing
" His voice got more serious.
The smile on my lips vanished and I nodded, no longer amused. Orus grabbed my shoulder and glared at Ruan, ready to pull me back in case of danger and Mark's hands filled with fire. My heart warmed up and love filled me. They were trying to protect me. I smiled at my guys before I turned to face Ruan again.
" I promise. What do you want?"
I would or wouldn't keep my promise depending on what it was, but I could at least hear him out.
"Just make sure to never let... What's his name?" Ruan's eyes went to Fluffy.
" Fluffy"
Ruan smirked and looked at Fluffy with amusement before he nodded.
" Fluffy" He said slowly, as if he was mocking someone. " be with me alone. You always have to be on the room when we're together"
I glanced at Fluffy and then at him. Weird requests but I could do it.
" As long as you do me another favor and don't snoop around our dorm"
I thought that would be too much for what Ruan had asked for and that he'd get angry, claiming he wouldn't do it, but instead he pondered for a second and nodded.
" What's the favor?"
" I'll tell you later"
Both Orus and Mark, Jack had gone on to explore Ruan's room, looked at me with curiosity, but I wouldn't tell them. If things went my way then this all could end right now.
" Fine" Ruan smiled and offered me his hand, which I shook.
After making the deal Ruan spun around to go to his room just as Jack came out. Fuck, noo. That was bad.
I grabbed Ruan by the sleeve and turned him around, distracting him from Jack, who had finally managed to get out.
Ruan looked at me with disdain as I let him go. His gaze told me I was weird but it didn't bother me much, I'd done it to save Jack. I wasn't weird.
Once Ruan entered his new, unapproved and unauthorized room I turned to look at my guys. Today had been a long day, even though it was still morning, and I was tired.
" Who wants pizza?"
All of them smiled.
Jack
I snuck into Ruan's room as soon as he was distracted, the chance to snoop around too big to pass up.
I entered thinking I would find something important or incriminating that I could blackmail Ruan with, but no matter how much I looked the room seemed brand new, as if he had just created it right now, which kinda made sense. Deep down I had been hoping that he had just materialized his room from back in Jinasia, but that didn't seem to be the case.
I went out with my hands empty and I sighed when I realized there was truly nothing I could blackmail him with. It seemed like I would have to deal with him for a little while and look for alternative methods.
I groaned. Why was it so hard for things to go right? If this had worked out everything would've been solved, but things just couldn't go my way.
The turmoil in my mind calmed down as soon as I saw Lyan, standing on the middle of the hallway in her school uniform and hugging Fluffy tightly into her chest. My heart warmed up and I smiled.
" Who wants pizza?" Her voice was adorable and cute as she asked. I just wanted to hold her in my arms, and maybe if I played my cards well I would.
" Pizza it is" I smiled as I grabbed her in between my arms and pulled her closer.
She blushed but didn't shove me away, cute.
" Unless you want something that tastes more like me, that is" I whispered into her ear.
She pushed me and went away huffing, but I could see that she wasn't really bothered. I laughed as I followed her, a smile on my lips until I saw the murderous gaze that freaking not rabbit was throwing my way, as if I was already dead prey.
I shuddered looking at him and cold sweat ran down my spine, but by when I looked back his eyes were back to normal and both the thing and Lyan looked at me confused, as if I was acting weird.
I plastered a smile on my lips and forced myself to get closer to that thing, hugging Lyan.
One of this days I'd find out what that thing actually was and then maybe Lyan would see the monster too and kick him out, or so I hoped.
As I hugged Lyan the thing looked back at me and I shuddered, my whole body paralyzed in fear.
