Chapter 51 - Translating the drawing books

Once Arjun left Venkateshwar Rao arranged a teachers meeting to discuss this matter which was quickly approved by all the teachers who attended the meet.

After all it was just the matter of making another question paper, since Arjun was still in his fifth class where papers were generally set by the local schools themselves it was a simple task.

Had he been in sixth or in any class in high school this would be much tougher as the question papers were set by the government instead.

When they were informed from the head master that the All in One's they had assembled had sold over fifty thousand copies all of them were elated and some even wanted to prepare a answer key for Arjun if there was a need to but were shot down by principal who was in the same room and could almost read their minds.

Arjun then went on with his work as he too was busy with translating the Telugu text in the drawing book to English and Hindi. He wanted this book to be sellable outside of the state and so these two languages too would be needed.

Since there were minimal words on each page mostly consisting of instructions on how to draw or what to draw it was very easy to accommodate space for all three languages as they were going with papers longer than the usual A4 sized books.

Even though it was easy, whole five books together amounted to over two hundred pages and since he did not want to seek the help of his teachers for this meager task Arjun had been busy with these for the next three days and it was finally the time to go to the town to pick up their new car.

Arjun had already been informed by the dealership manager on the prior day that the car modifications have been completed and was awaiting for registration.

Since Sari did not know about the car their house was much more peaceful but it was quickly drowned by her wailing when she got to know that her father was going to accompany her brother to the town while she had to stay back and study for the upcoming exams.

She cried saying it was not fair, her brother got to roam all around while she had to spend most of the time studying while it was her who scored more of the both.

She didn't stop until Arjun coerced her saying there would be a surprise for her after this trip which instantly got her excited and started listing the toys she would like to receive.

Arjun along with the other two adults in the room did not know whether to laugh or cry seeing this. This kid was too fickle all of them complained and shut her up by staring her down.

The next day Arjun, Lalitha and his father Pratap started to the town early in the morning. Bhargav couldn't come this time around as he was busy with something else.

While Pratap was driving Arjun brought up the topic of hiring a new bodyguard for the press and factory.

Why do we need a security guard kiddo? Aren't things fine just the way they are? who would even try to steal in the village when all of us already know each other.

It's better to be safe than sorry dad Arjun commented.

Well since the machinery that's being imported is costly i guess we could use one or two security guards but will they be willing to come to our village for the job?

Actually i have already hired one dad and he's going to come with us on our way back.

Why do sound like i might know him from somewhere?

Well you know his sister Arjun said pointing at Lalitha.

You have a brother Lalli? Pratap asked surprised, According to what Arjun had told earlier this women had no close relatives left.

Yes Big boss, he was adapted into our family and joined military while i was still a small kid. He only recently retired and came back Lalitha replied.

Pratap felt there was more to this story but did not mention it instead asked why would he work as security guard?

He's currently working as guard at the state bank branch in Vijayawada dad, i convinced him to come work for us instead since we need someone trustworthy and he can also stay close to his sister.

Hmm....well done kiddo we can hire more once the factory is started don't be hasty and go looking around for more guards Pratap commented.

I know dad.

Yes yes you know everything Pratap gave a smile giving a sidelong glance.

Also dad,

What is it this time Arjun?

I am thinking of hosting a small launch event for our upcoming drawing books. It will be nothing flashy, only a small meet up with our distributors and the union folks who helped us sell so many books. I want to thank them properly for all the work they put in.

Yes that sounds good, do you need my help with anything?

Well i am also considering to give three percent of our press shares to Yadav father and son duo. They have been working too hard in the past couple months and i think they need to be rewarded properly, i wanted to ask for your opinion.

Good, good it's a really good idea Pratap commended his son again and again and so did Lalitha. This was her first time seeing someone willingly offer stakes to their employees but since she too was an employee under the same guy she too hoped to receive the same treatment someday.

Pratap meanwhile was thinking about something else entirely. From the moment his son started the printing press and began making money he was afraid about his son getting addicted to money.

He did not care whether his son made millions or not, they were already living a very happy life and did not want it to be ruined by running behind the money or change in living standards.

Pratap was also afraid his son might get used to winning and wondered how he would deal with things if he ever lost, but when his own son suggested to share some of their company shares with the employees most of his worries vanished.

Even if Arjun managed to mess up sometime his employees who got the shares through their hard work and knowledge would be the first people to oppose those stupid decisions.

He wanted his son to grow up like a king since that's what they were but it seemed his son had other plans in his mind and wanted to become a king maker instead. Pratap felt this was a much better approach.

After all Kings only last until their kingdom just like him but kingmakers would last forever if they wanted to and handled things right, Pratap felt his ten year old son was way more mature than he gave credit for and felt perhaps giving him more freedom was not such a bad thing.

As he was busy in these thoughts they reached the town and dropped Lalli at her brother's place so she could help with the packing while they proceeded to the hotel to get their room checked in.

They then headed to Mannath distributors to meet with Ravi and collect the cheque for their previous delivery.

When Ravi saw Arjun entering his office with a new guy but when Arjun introduced Pratap as his father, Ravi quickly got into his flattery mode which went on for another ten minutes before everyone settled down.

After Ravi handed them the cheque Arjun informed him about the meet in their village in a couple of weeks and invited him saying there would be a surprise for him if he does visit.

They went to the bank to deposit the cheque as well as withdraw cash of two lakh thirty thousand rupees. Even though they could also pay through cheque at the dealership, it might involve unnecessary delays which Arjun did not want to deal with.

They then went to dealership and were informed by the manager that the registrar had not yet arrived so they handed him the money and left on their way promising to return in an hour after their lunch.

Neither Arjun nor Pratap wanted to travel around with that amount of money and placing it in the hotel was not a safe option either so paying it early was the better option they decided.

Arjun knew that his father did not really like exotic foods and took him to the meals place Lalitha had taken them earlier. Pratap loved the traditional meals especially the pickle which he couldn't stop talking about.

Pratap started speaking about how Kavitha was so bad at cooking when they arrived at the village and how he had to adjust with just the pickles but stopped as soon as he began talking.
