Alex Alden was frustrated; he wanted to press his advantage, but Tristan Xavier and Vincent Vance were no pushovers. They fired accurately toward his position. Alex Alden waved one of his men over, telling him to summon everyone. A faint thrill of excitement stirred within him.
Tears streamed uncontrollably down Aria Sterling's face. She knew that if Damian Xavier hadn't taken that hit for her, she would already be dead. She was overwhelmed with guilt.
"Damian, I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry…"
Damian squeezed Aria's cheek with his good hand, forcing a casual smile. "It's okay. I don't blame you."
"But… your hand won't stop bleeding. It must hurt so much, right?" she sobbed.
Just as Damian was about to offer a few more words of comfort, he was cut off.
Tristan pulled the car up in front of them and yelled, "Damian, get in, now! Alex Alden's men are almost here!"
At his words, Aria quickly helped Damian to his feet, supporting him as they painstakingly made their way into the car.
