The next two days went smoothly and were filled with peace, but I cannot say that about today, because since this morning, the Solyne mansion has been in chaos. As I got out of my room with Mary, I saw servants rushing through the halls carrying trays of desserts and flower arrangements.
The silverware on the dining table had been replaced twice already because Jenna claimed the shine was not bright enough, as if the royal family itself were coming for inspection. Even the curtains had been drawn back wider to let the sunlight spill over the expensive marble floors.
It ridiculously felt over the top.
My eyes roamed around, looking at the new things. Then I sat near the window in the sitting room, with a book in my hand,d pretending to read while Mary fixed the ribbons on my sleeve for the third time.
"You're pulling it too tightly," I mutter, ed looking again at my mother.
