Chapter 14: Lucky!
"I don't have much more time. I'm a busy man afterall. Oh by the way. I just got word that a few shrines have gone up in flames. So I'm assuming you had something to do with that?"
I just shrugged.
I only knew of Wrym dying, but it's possible something could have happened I didn't know about. It would certainly explain the notification I got after obtaining my divine skill.
[You have gained +1,000,000 points]
Shame to see all that go.
That's when I put a finger to my chin in thought.
'Maybe I should spend a few?'
I chuckled Nethaniel took that as a yes.
"I'll pay you your dues. My land has far too many foul gods roaming about. Make sure to capture some while you're at it. That little dungeon of yours will appreciate it."
He just chuckled before waving goodbye before I could ask him how he knew about that.
Seraphina slumped over in her chair with her eyes closed and then started looking around in confusion.
"I expected him to call by now? Weird. He must be busy." She shrugged.
I looked at her with a raised brow.
"He just did. You didn't notice?"
She blinked in confusion before blushing a little.
"Ah, no I did not."
She got up slowly before walking to the door.
I watched her go before closing my door.
That's when I started thinking.
"I need to take advantage of my luck before it's taken away, but how?"
I scrunched my brows a little before it came to me.
"Maybe I'll just spend a few points to see what happens."
{That's probably for the best. May I propose something while you're at it?} Dredan spoke in my mind.
I had almost forgotten about him.
"What are you thinking?"
{I have been thinking about this since that time with Ava… What if you told your people that I was the one giving them skills? Technically you need your soldiers' loyalty, but I need their worship. That in turn would help you greatly.}
I didn't have to think about it for long. What he says makes sense. Not just that. If people found out I could bestow skills to people it could put me in a lot of heat.
Especially if they found out I have over 20 Ultimate Skills floating around god knows where.
"Yeah, let's do that."
Dredan sighed in relief. Clearly worried I would say no.
"I have over 3000 skills but they can only be given away once."
[Slash lvl 8 {1}]
[Stab lvl 7 {1}]
'Maybe I keep a few. I have thought about picking up the sword…'
{Just spend your luck. See what happens.}
I just shrugged then thought of something.
"Oh crap, why didn't I think of that sooner? Dredan, I just came up with the most evil idea I have ever had."
Without waiting for a response from him I spent my points immediately.
[1000 points spent]
'I want to meet as many people as possible.'
I prayed to the universe hoping it would work and sure enough, I got a knock on the door.
"Sir! A large army has just shown up numbering roughly 21,000 people!"
One of my soldiers yelled through the door.
"Well shit."
I opened the door and walked out, following him outside.
"Tell me about the troop composition."
The soldiers face war pale as he explained.
I could see why.
3000 Cavalry.
10,000 Infantry.
1000 Flying Calvary.
And 7000 Heavy Infantry soldiers wearing full plated armor.
I looked over on the castle walls and sure enough, there were thousands on the mainland and a shit ton of flying mounts in the sky.
Thankfully I was told about flying mounts when designing Fort Dragon.
I made sure the fort had a roof covering the entire isle when it was being built. To outsiders it looked a lot like Da Vinci's Tank with spears that could be removed at any time to prevent enemies from landing on the roof.
It was almost like a forest of spears.
And thanks to the dungeon these spears were incredibly solid!
He also had made it so that archers and catapults could be set up on the roofs. Architects were skeptical of course.
A wooden roof isn't supposed to be this strong after all, but after threatening to cut off a few heads they were more than happy to oblige.
...
After climbing up the ladder and finding myself at the highest vantage point I quickly started looking around at all the flying, buzzing bees as I could find.
As well as the ones who look like they're in charge.
"Six generals, a couple of officers and… oh?"
Sadly he couldn't activate his appraisal skill on people that weren't his own soldiers but he could spot a spoiled brat from a mile away.
"That kid in the gold armor. Do you know who he is?"
I asked the closest archers near me and they just stared in confusion, trying to figure out who he was before one guy spoke up.
"I think that's a prince. The Letter Kingdom dress their royalty in gold and jules to battle. I don't know who he is but I can bet you that's what you're looking at."
I nodded in appreciation.
After that I started walking around on the roof and I could spot a few gazes on me.
'Seems like they have figured out I'm the one in charge.'
Once they noticed me they began coordinating with each other.
There was still time before high tide rolled in so a few generals started running towards the castle gate on horseback.
I walked back inside and headed towards the gates.
Once I gave them permission to open the gate I was met with 3 generals on horseback trying to calm their rowdy steeds who for some reason were starting to act up in anger.
"Damn horses. What's gotten into you!"
I just gave them a minute to calm their horses before talking.
"Well, you're finally here. The question is, what can I do for you?"
The head general spoke up courteously.
"Haha, what else? We have taken a keen interest in this fortress of yours. Such a fascinating design. Perhaps you could sell it to his highness?"
I just smiled.
I have heard enough about these 'Lettermen' to know they were as greedy as they were rich. So it was no surprise they were unwilling to actively lay siege to something they believe would belong to them.
"I'm afraid Fort Dragon cannot be bought."
The general just chuckled, "Of course. If you had said yes I would only doubt the safety of such a fine fortress… Speaking of dragons. How much for her?"
I smirked at the man.
Openly assuming there is a dragon. Though I suppose there's no point in keeping it a secret anymore.
"She isn't for sale."
Just then the general's eyes widened and turned into glee.
"She? Our king would very much love to have her then. We too have a dragon though he is getting up in years and needs an offspring before he dies in a century or two. We would be more than willing to give you an egg or two depending on her fertility."
I gave a cold chuckle before spitting on the ground.
"My precious Ava is not a horse to be bred. She is a dragon. She will get the respect she deserves."
Once I said that I gave a light happy smile before saying, "What better opportunity to gain respect than a battlefield?"
The general gave a silent chuckle before steering his horse away without a word. His comrades followed after him in silence.
I looked up to the guards in charge of lowering the gate and yelled, "Prepare for war!"
