Chapter 212 - We Need to Talk

(MASON'S POV)

My mother. The woman who had loved me but couldn't protect me. The woman who had watched my father destroy me piece by piece and could only stand by, helpless. I had never blamed her—not really—but seeing her now brought back a flood of memories I had tried so hard to bury.

"Mason." Liam's voice cracked. He looked like he was about to cry too, his eyes red and watery. "Mason, please. We need to talk to you."

Helen tried to move forward, but the man with silver hair—the one who radiated power and danger—held up his hand, stopping her in her tracks. She looked terrible. Her face was pale, her eyes hollow, dark circles carved deep beneath them like she hadn't slept in weeks. She looked like a ghost wearing her own skin.

"Mason," Helen croaked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Please. I'm so sorry. I need to tell you I'm sorry."

I stared at her, my heart pounding so hard I could feel it in my throat.
