I pulled Aimy into my arms and hugged her tightly.
"Daddy loves you so much, baby."
She stayed quietly in my embrace as I stood up and carried her back to the dining table.
I gently placed her in her chair before taking my seat at the head of the table.
Alicia was already serving Aimy a stack of pancakes.
She served herself as well, but throughout it all she never once looked at me.
I could tell she was deliberately avoiding my gaze.
A faint smile tugged at my lips.
For once...
I didn't mind.
After breakfast, the pediatrician arrived to give Aimy one final examination.
"Has she been taking her medicine regularly?" he asked, jotting down Alicia's answers.
"Yes, Doctor."
"And has she been eating and playing normally?"
"She has."
He nodded with satisfaction after finishing the examination.
