Chapter 85 - Chapter 9: The Worst Footage Ever Recorded

I thought the situation was over.

We had escaped the League of Villains base.

No one died.

I didn't get stabbed.

And Shota Aizawa still had his coffee.

So obviously everything should go back to normal.

Right?

Wrong.

Very wrong.

Because about one hour later, I was sitting in the office of Nezu.

And the entire situation somehow got worse.

The Principal's Office

The office door closed behind me with a quiet click.

Inside the room were:

Nezu, sitting neatly behind his desk.

Aizawa, leaning against the wall with his capture scarf loosely wrapped around his shoulders.

And a giant screen mounted on the wall.

I immediately pointed at the screen.

"…That's bad news, isn't it?"

Nezu smiled politely.

"Oh no, Ren!"

That was not reassuring.

"Just a small review of today's events."

He pressed a button.

The video began playing.

I immediately regretted everything.

Security Footage – Training Field

The footage showed the training field at U.A. High School.

There I was.

Throwing cards dramatically like some kind of magician.

Then the portal opened.

The camera caught everything.

Including me dragging Aizawa through it.

I buried my face in my hands.

"Oh no."

The video continued.

Security Footage – The Portal

Through the portal camera feed we could clearly see the League of Villains base.

Nezu leaned forward curiously.

"Oh my…"

The footage zoomed slightly.

Showing:

Tomura Shigaraki

Dabi

Kurogiri

And me.

Standing there awkwardly.

The video clearly captured my voice.

"…Do you guys want to play Garbage?"

Nezu's tail twitched slightly.

"…Fascinating negotiation strategy."

I groaned.

"That wasn't negotiation."

The footage kept going.

It showed the card game.

It showed Aizawa calmly drinking coffee.

Then—

The door burst open on the video.

Himiko Toga ran in.

Nezu leaned even closer.

"Oh dear."

Then the chase started.

The Chase (From the Cameras)

The footage showed everything.

Me teleporting across the room.

Toga chasing me with a knife.

Me shouting:

"NO STABBING!"

Toga yelling:

"JUST A LITTLE!"

Dabi watching like it was a comedy show.

Kurogiri still playing cards.

And Aizawa casually continuing the game.

Nezu covered his mouth politely.

But I could tell he was trying not to laugh.

The video ended with me diving through the portal back to U.A.

Then collapsing on the grass.

The screen went dark.

Silence.

I slowly looked up.

"…So."

Nezu folded his paws.

"That was certainly… unique."

I pointed desperately.

"In my defense—"

Aizawa interrupted.

"There is no defense."

Fair.

The Real Problem

Nezu tapped the desk thoughtfully.

"You see, Ren, there is one issue."

I braced myself.

"…What?"

He pointed at the paused frame on the screen.

A frame showing the League base clearly.

"You have unintentionally created something extremely valuable."

I blinked.

"…What?"

Nezu smiled.

"A reliable portal directly into the League of Villains headquarters."

Oh.

Oh no.

Aizawa crossed his arms.

"That means we need to understand exactly how your teleportation works."

I slowly leaned back in the chair.

"…You're going to make me do it again."

Nezu nodded happily.

"Yes!"

My soul left my body.

"You want me to open another portal."

"Yes."

"To the villains."

"Yes."

I rubbed my face.

"…Can I at least bring cards again?"

Aizawa shrugged.

"Apparently that works."

Nezu pressed another button.

The office door opened.

Standing outside were several familiar faces.

Kirishima.

Mina.

Denki.

Kaito.

Midoriya.

All staring at me.

Nezu smiled.

"Group experiment."

Denki looked excited.

"WAIT ARE WE GOING TO THE VILLAIN BASE?"

I pointed at Nezu.

"This is your fault."

He nodded proudly.

"Yes."

Aizawa sighed.

"…Ren."

"…Yes?"

"Open the portal."

I stared at the air in front of me.

Then slowly pulled a card from my deck.

"…If Toga is there again…"

Everyone leaned closer.

"…I'm blaming all of you."

And then I threw the card.

The portal opened.

And somewhere on the other side…

I heard Dabi's voice.

"…Oh you've got to be kidding me."
