Maya's POV
Sebastian's hesitation cut through me like ice water.
"I can't guarantee she'll attend personally, but—"
"She'll be there," I interrupted, shooting to my feet. "She promised to send her 'top team.' That definitely means her. Bianca never misses a chance to steal the show at events like this."
Sebastian exhaled slowly, abandoning his wine glass on the table.
"Maya, even if she shows up, what does it change? You're wearing my ring now. You're here with me."
"That's rich coming from someone who didn't catch their fiancé tangled up with their supposed best friend."
His expression gentled slightly.
"I understand this is painful. But you can't let them control you anymore."
My fingernails bit into my palms as I struggled against the familiar ache threatening to consume me.
"I need to get out of here."
"Follow me." Sebastian rose, extending his palm toward me. "There's somewhere I want to take you."
