ARIES POV:
I paced in the living room, my fist tight.
Jay Jay! Always stubborn. Always putting herself in danger.
Mama sat on the sofa, her hands trembling. Aunt Gemma beside her, sighing quietly.
"She won't listen," Mama said softly. "She's been going out alone, investigating…she's too brave for her own good."
"She's your daughter, not mine," Aunt Gemma muttered. "But I worry too."
I ran a hand through my hair. "I am going to talk to Keifer again."
Mama frowned, "Again?"
"Yes. He is the only one who can watch her properly."
I grabbed my phone and called him. It rang twice before he picked up.
"Aries," he said, voice calm as always. "What is it?"
"Keifer," I said, trying to keep my tone serious, "Jay is still going out alone. I need to you to watch her. Don't let her get hurt."
"I thought we talked about this," he said. "I will never let my eyes of her. Besides, she is a beauty with that temper of hers."
I could almost see his smirk through the phone.
This man. I am going to kill him one day soon.
"Keifer! I am being serious here."
"I am serious too," he replied. "I'll watch, don't worry."
I paused. "Are you really going to do it or are you just saying that?"
He chuckled slightly. "Of course I am going to do it, even if you say me to stop one day."
I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Keifer, don't annoy me."
"Relax, Aries," he replied. "You worry too much, I have got this."
I groaned, frustrated. "You know what? Just…don't mess this up. She is my only sister after Keira…"
"I know and I won't," he said softly.
And then, Keifer being Keifer, he said, "Besides…it's kind of fun watching her run around like this."
I threw the phone on the sofa.
"Keifer is impossible. I swear if he mess this up…" I muttered, pacing again.
Mama and Aunt Gemma exchanged worried looks.
"Yes, but he is smart," Aunt Gemma said quietly. "He can protect her…in his own way."
I sighed, still worried.
Jay was stubborn, dangerous to herself, and now…Lucas was a new piece to the puzzle.
And I hated the thought that my sister might be in danger, again.
