Sora stepped forward and raised his Keyblade, the tip angling toward Warden Wrath as a red glow began to gather at its point. The light pulsed once, then intensified, heat rippling outward as he steadied his stance. His expression sharpened as he leaned slightly into the attack, locking onto his target without hesitation.
"C'mon!" Sora called out.
"Fire!"
A volley of blazing fireballs burst forward in rapid succession, streaking across the battlefield and lighting the air with flashes of orange and red. Warden Wrath reacted immediately, shifting his footing as he dodged the first few projectiles with quick sidesteps. The final fireball came in fast, but he raised his blade arm and deflected it cleanly, the impact scattering embers across the ground. Without pause, he lunged forward, closing the distance with aggressive speed.
"What?" Warden Wrath muttered as Sora suddenly vanished from his direct line of attack.
Sora reappeared in motion, Flowmotion propelling him forward in a blur as he intercepted the charge. His Keyblade collided with Wrath's blade arm in a sharp clash, and with a quick pivot, he redirected the momentum and forced the warden backward.
"You're too slow!" Sora said.
They rushed each other again, their weapons colliding in a rapid exchange of strikes that echoed against the stone. Sparks flew with each impact as Sora shifted fluidly between offense and defense, eventually breaking the rhythm with a final swing that knocked Wrath back a step. Without giving him time to recover, Sora kicked a cluster of loose debris off the ground, sending it flying toward him.
"Coming at ya!"
Warden Wrath slashed through the incoming rubble with ease, his blade arm cutting each piece apart midair. But the momentary distraction cost him. A sharp burst of cold struck the back of his head as Sora appeared behind him in an instant.
"Freeze!"
Warden Wrath stiffened briefly from the impact before straightening again, irritation flickering beneath his composure.
"Hmm," he said. "You're quite skilled, boy. But you'll have to do better than that."
His arms extended outward and shifted again, transforming into multiple blade-like tendrils that whipped through the air in wide arcs. He advanced with relentless pressure, swinging repeatedly in an attempt to overwhelm Sora. Sora moved with precision, sidestepping the first few strikes with minimal effort before flipping backward to avoid the next series of sweeping attacks.
For a split second, Sora was airborne.
Warden Wrath seized the opportunity.
His arm snapped forward, reforming into a solid fist that drove straight into Sora mid-movement. The impact sent Sora hurtling backward, crashing through a nearby wall in an explosion of stone and dust.
"Sora!" Luz shouted.
"Aw man, that's gotta hurt," Eda muttered.
"Is he okay?!" King added.
Dust filled the air as fragments of stone settled across the ground. Warden Wrath let out a low chuckle, straightening as he looked toward the impact site with satisfaction.
"Skilled… but insufficient," he said. "Once he's taken into custody, he might prove useful. With the right incentive, of course."
The dust shifted.
From within it, a voice rang out clearly.
"Thunder!"
A bolt of lightning tore down from the sky, striking Warden Wrath directly and engulfing him in a burst of blinding energy. He cried out as the force drove him down to his hands and knees, the ground beneath him scorched from the impact.
As the light faded, Sora stepped forward from the clearing dust and swung his Keyblade in a wide arc, dispersing the remaining haze.
"Like you said," Sora replied, "you'll have to do better than that."
Behind him, Luz, Eda, and King stared in amazement.
"He's okay!" Luz said.
"Well, I'll be," Eda added. "The kid's tougher than I thought."
"Alright!" King cheered.
Warden Wrath slowly pushed himself upright again, recovering from the strike as the fight was far from over.
The air around him seemed to shift as his arm began to distort again, splitting and stretching into multiple writhing tendrils that coiled and flexed with unnatural speed.
"I've had it, boy!" Warden Wrath roared.
The tendrils lashed out all at once.
They came from every direction in a relentless barrage, striking faster than before as they cut through the air with sharp, whipping force. Sora reacted instantly, bringing his Keyblade up and spinning it in tight arcs to deflect as many strikes as he could. Sparks flew with each block, but the sheer number of attacks quickly overwhelmed his defense. One tendril slipped past his guard and struck his side, followed by another that caught his shoulder, then another that clipped his face.
The hits came faster.
Blow after blow landed against him, each one adding to the growing strain in his body as he was forced backward step by step. Sora tried to regain his footing, his movements still controlled but increasingly strained under the constant pressure. His arms trembled slightly as he continued blocking what he could, but the rhythm of the assault never let up.
Then Warden Wrath shifted tactics.
The tendrils recoiled and reformed into massive fists that swelled in size before crashing down. The first slammed into Sora from above, driving him hard into the ground. Before he could recover, the second fist struck him squarely, launching him backward with explosive force.
Sora flew across the battlefield and crashed into a stone wall with a violent impact.
The force carved a deep crater into the surface as rock fragments shattered outward and fell around him. Dust filled the air again, heavier this time, settling slowly over the fractured stone.
Warden Wrath stepped forward, his silhouette looming through the haze.
He inhaled deeply.
A low rumble built within him as fire began to glow from inside his mouth, the light growing brighter and more intense with each passing second. Heat radiated outward, distorting the air around him as the flames gathered into a concentrated blaze.
"This is where it ends, kid…"
But then, a sharp burst of wind erupted outward.
Sora stepped forward from the crater, his Keyblade raised as a spiraling current of air wrapped tightly around his body. The wind coiled and intensified, forming a visible vortex that roared to life with a rising pitch. The ground beneath his feet cracked slightly as the force expanded outward, pushing debris away in a widening circle.
"Aeroga!" Sora called.
The whirlwind surged forward.
The concentrated blast of wind struck Warden Wrath head-on before he could release his fire, disrupting the attack completely. The force lifted him off his feet and hurled him backward, slamming his body into the fortress wall with a thunderous impact. The stone cracked under the collision as the wind continued to drive him into it for a brief moment before dispersing.
From a distance, Luz stared wide-eyed at the display.
"Whoa." Luz and Eda said.
King pumped his fists excitedly. "Blast him again!"
Sora didn't respond. He tightened his grip on the Keyblade, holding it firmly at his side with both hands as his stance lowered. Without hesitation, he pushed forward and broke into a sprint, closing the distance in seconds.
Warden Wrath tore himself free from the cracked wall just as Sora reached him.
His arms shifted instantly, expanding and reshaping into massive axe-like blades that gleamed under the storm-lit sky. He swung downward with force, meeting Sora's approach head-on.
The Keyblade rose to meet the strike.
Steel clashed against steel with a sharp, ringing impact.
Sora deflected the blow and pivoted, bringing his weapon back across in a horizontal strike that Wrath blocked with his opposite blade. The two moved in close, their weapons colliding repeatedly as the pace of the fight accelerated. Each clash sent vibrations through their arms as sparks scattered across the ground.
Wrath pressed forward with brute strength, his axe arms swinging in heavy arcs designed to overpower.
Sora answered with speed.
He shifted around each attack with tight, controlled movements, slipping just outside the range of each swing before snapping back in with precise counterstrikes. Their weapons collided again and again in rapid succession, the rhythm of the fight becoming a constant exchange of strikes, blocks, and parries.
Wrath swung low.
Sora leapt over it.
Sora brought his Keyblade down.
Wrath twisted aside and countered immediately.
They never broke distance.
The fight stayed close, fast, and relentless as both of them adjusted in real time, reading each other's movements and responding without hesitation. Wrath's attacks carried raw force and aggression, each swing capable of breaking stone, while Sora's movements were fluid and acrobatic, his speed allowing him to redirect and evade rather than absorb the blows.
The clash broke, and both fighters slid back a step, resetting their footing as dust swirled between them. Warden Wrath's gaze narrowed behind his mask, his posture tightening as he reassessed the boy in front of him. What had started as a routine capture had clearly become something else entirely. Sora wasn't just fast—he was controlled, adaptive, and far more dangerous than Wrath had anticipated. The warden exhaled slowly, the tension in his stance shifting from irritation to focus as he made a decision.
"Seems I underestimated you," Warden Wrath said.
He raised his right hand and traced a glowing ring in the air. A circle of white light formed at his fingertips, its edges shimmering with a brownish-gold hue as it stabilized. With a sharp downward motion, he drove his hand toward the ground.
The earth responded instantly.
Jagged spikes erupted upward in rapid succession, bursting from the stone floor in a chain reaction aimed directly at Sora. The spikes tore through the ground with violent force, each one angled to intercept his movement.
Sora reacted without hesitation.
Flowmotion carried him into motion as he pushed off the ground and redirected himself mid-step, slipping between the rising spikes with precise timing. He vaulted off one formation, twisted in the air, and landed just ahead of another before it could fully form. Each movement flowed into the next, his body staying just ahead of the attack as the spikes chased his position across the battlefield.
Wrath didn't stop there.
He lifted his left hand and traced another ring, this one glowing with a deep purple light as the energy coalesced at his fingertips. The circle pulsed once, then stabilized as he extended his arm outward.
"Abominations," Warden Wrath commanded. "Rise!"
The ground beneath him darkened.
From the surface, thick purple ooze began to bubble and surge upward, forming into crude humanoid shapes. The creatures solidified just enough to stand, their bodies unstable and shifting as if struggling to hold a consistent form. Their limbs stretched and retracted unevenly, their surfaces rippling as they moved.
One turned toward Sora.
The other pivoted toward Eda, Luz, and King.
Luz gasped as the second creature advanced.
Eda stepped forward immediately, placing herself between it and the others, her stance firm as she prepared to intercept.
The abomination targeting Sora lunged first, its arm stretching outward far beyond its original shape in an attempt to grab him. Sora shifted to the side, Flowmotion carrying him just out of reach as the elongated limb slammed into the ground where he had been standing. The creature reformed its arm quickly and struck again, its movements erratic but relentless.
Sora kept moving, weaving around each attempt while studying it closely.
Despite its unstable structure, the creature moved with surprising coordination. Its attacks adapted quickly, adjusting angles and reach in ways that forced Sora to stay fully engaged. The lack of a fixed form didn't weaken it—it made it unpredictable.
It can't hold its shape well, Sora thought, but it still fights effectively.
He pivoted away from another sweeping strike and glanced briefly toward Wrath.
"What are those things?" Sora asked.
"They're called abominations," Warden Wrath replied. "Constructed servants made from magical compounds."
He gestured toward the fractured ground where the spikes had formed.
"And what you just dodged was Construction Magic," he added. "One of many disciplines I have access to."
Wrath straightened slightly, his tone shifting into something almost proud.
"That is the advantage of serving in the Emperor's Coven," he continued. "We are not limited to a single path. We study all forms of magic, master them, and use them as needed."
Behind Sora, the second abomination closed in on Eda's position, its form shifting as it prepared to strike. Eda narrowed her eyes, ready to meet it head-on, while Luz stepped back instinctively and King braced himself beside her.
Sora turned his focus forward again, tightening his grip on the Keyblade as the abomination lunged once more.
Sora stepped into the abomination's next attack and met it head-on, bringing his Keyblade down in a clean, decisive swing. The blade cut straight through the creature's torso, splitting its unstable form apart in a spray of purple ooze. For a brief second, the halves separated, the structure collapsing as if the strike had ended it.
Then the pieces moved.
The severed mass pulled itself back together, the ooze reforming and knitting into its original shape as if nothing had happened. The creature steadied, its surface rippling once before it lunged again, completely unfazed by the damage it had just taken.
Sora's eyes narrowed.
It's regenerating, he realized.
Behind him, Eda stepped forward and traced a glowing spell circle in the air with sharp precision. The symbol flared to life, and she thrust her hand forward, releasing a concentrated blast of fire that surged toward the second abomination.
The flames struck directly, engulfing the creature in a burst of heat and light.
Warden Wrath didn't flinch.
"You'll have to do better than that," he said flatly.
The fire faded, and the abomination remained standing. Its form wavered slightly, portions of its body melting under the heat before quickly reshaping and stabilizing again.
"I designed them to endure," Warden Wrath continued. "They can withstand even the most offensive elemental magic."
Eda clicked her tongue under her breath, her expression tightening as she quickly reassessed the situation. Fighting Wrath alone had already been difficult, but with these constructs in play, the balance had shifted further against them.
She didn't hesitate.
"Luz!" Eda called out sharply.
Luz turned toward her, startled.
"Take King and go!" Eda ordered.
"What?" Luz said. "No, I—"
"You won't be able to keep him safe and fight at the same time!" Eda cut in. "I can't cover all of you like this!"
Luz hesitated, clearly wanting to argue, but the urgency in Eda's voice made the reality of the situation impossible to ignore. King looked up at her, uncertain, while the abomination in front of Eda began to advance again.
Eda didn't wait for a response.
She slammed her hand against the base of her staff.
The staff surged to life and shot upward, lifting Luz and King into the air before either of them could fully react.
"Eda!" Luz called out as the distance between them grew.
Sora shifted his footing as the abomination advanced again, its form rippling with every step as if it could fall apart at any moment, yet never actually did. Warden Wrath's words echoed in his mind, the certainty in his voice about the creature's resilience against elemental magic standing out above everything else. Sora exhaled slowly, tightening his grip on the Keyblade as he decided to test that claim for himself. If brute force wouldn't break it, then he would find what would.
He raised his Keyblade and aimed it forward.
"Waterga!"
A surge of water spiraled outward in a powerful torrent, crashing directly into the abomination and drenching it completely. The impact forced it back a step, its form distorting under the pressure before quickly stabilizing again. The attack left it soaked, but otherwise unaffected.
Sora narrowed his eyes.
"Thundaga!"
A bolt of lightning tore down from above, striking the creature with a sharp crack of energy. The abomination convulsed under the impact, its surface flashing as the electricity coursed through it. For a moment, its movements slowed, but only slightly, and it pushed forward again despite the damage.
"Firaga!"
A concentrated burst of fire shot forward, engulfing the creature in intense heat. The flames forced it to recoil this time, its form warping more noticeably as sections of it melted under the attack. Still, it reformed quickly, pushing through the damage as it resumed its advance.
Sora's focus sharpened.
"Blizzaga!"
A wave of freezing energy surged forward, coating the abomination in a thick layer of ice. The creature froze mid-step, its unstable form locked solid as the frost overtook it completely.
Sora didn't hesitate.
He rushed forward and swung his Keyblade in a clean arc, shattering the frozen mass into pieces. The ice and hardened fragments scattered across the ground, finally stopping the creature's movement.
For the first time, there was an opening.
Sora pivoted immediately and raised his Keyblade toward Warden Wrath.
"Aeroga!"
A powerful whirlwind erupted forward, slamming into Wrath and lifting him off his feet before hurling him back into the wall once again. The impact echoed across the battlefield as debris shook loose from the structure.
Sora stepped forward, ready to press the advantage.
Then the ground shifted.
The scattered remains of the abomination began to move.
The fragments of purple matter pulled together, reforming rapidly into a complete shape once more. Before Sora could react, the creature extended its arm, the limb stretching and expanding far beyond its normal size.
The enlarged hand shot forward.
It grabbed him.
The force wrapped around Sora's upper body, pinning his arms to his sides as the mass constricted tightly. The ooze pressed upward toward his face, sealing over his mouth and restricting his breathing.
Sora struggled immediately, his body twisting against the grip as he tried to break free. The pressure tightened further, the abomination's form shifting to hold him in place with relentless strength.
Above the creature, Warden Wrath pushed himself off the wall, his posture steady despite the hit.
Eda saw Sora get seized in an instant, the abomination's enlarged hand locking around his upper body as he struggled to breathe. The shift in the fight snapped her focus immediately, and without hesitation, she broke into a sprint toward him. She didn't have her staff, but that didn't slow her down. Her hands moved quickly as she traced one spell circle after another in the air, each one flaring to life as she launched attacks in rapid succession.
Bolts of energy cracked forward, striking at the abomination restraining Sora and forcing it to recoil slightly. She followed with a burst of fire that spread across its surface, then a slicing arc of magic that carved through part of its form. The creature wavered under the pressure, its shape destabilizing momentarily as it tried to maintain cohesion while keeping Sora contained.
"Hang on!" Eda called out.
Sora continued to struggle, his movements becoming more frantic as the grip around him tightened further.
Eda stepped in closer, preparing another spell, but the second abomination moved.
It surged forward from the side, its form stretching unnaturally as it closed the distance in an instant. Before Eda could react, its arm snapped around her neck, the mass tightening into a solid hold as it lifted her off the ground.

Eda's spell faltered.
Her hands dropped instinctively to the creature's grip as she gasped, the pressure cutting off her air. The abomination held her suspended, its form shifting to tighten its grip while she kicked slightly, trying to regain leverage.
"Ghk—!"
Her movements grew more strained as the seconds passed, the lack of air quickly catching up to her.
Across from her, Warden Wrath approached at a measured pace.
He stepped through the debris with deliberate calm, his posture relaxed now that the advantage had returned to him. Stopping just in front of her, he tilted his head slightly and looked up at her suspended form, the faintest hint of satisfaction in his stance.
"I'll just keep you like this," he said slowly, "until you warm up to the idea of being with me~."
His tone carried a quiet confidence, as if the outcome had already been decided. Eda's eyes narrowed despite the strain, her breath coming in short, shallow gasps as she fought against the hold.
Pinned in place, Sora struggled against the abomination's crushing grip as the pressure around his chest tightened with every second. The creature's mass pressed upward, cutting off his breathing while his arms remained locked at his sides. His vision narrowed slightly as he fought to stay focused, but then his gaze shifted past the creature holding him.
Eda.
She was suspended in the air just a few feet away, her body lifted by the throat as the second abomination held her in place. Her movements had slowed, her hands gripping at the constricting mass as she fought for air, her strength visibly fading. Warden Wrath stood beneath her, calm and composed, watching as if this outcome had always been inevitable.
Something in Sora's chest tightened.
His struggle faltered for just a moment as memories forced their way to the surface, unbidden and relentless. The battlefield of the Keyblade War flickered through his mind, the weight of that conflict still fresh. He remembered the countless clashes, the exhaustion, and the moment everything had nearly been lost. Faces of friends flashed through his thoughts—some standing beside him, others falling away in the chaos.
Then one moment stood out above the rest.
Kairi.
He saw her again, just out of reach, the distance between them closing too slowly as he tried to get to her. He remembered the helplessness as Xehanort struck her down before he could reach her; the feeling of arriving too late burned into his memory.
Sora's grip tightened against the abomination.
Not again.
Through the haze, he heard Luz's voice.
"Sora! Please—save her!"
The words cut through everything.
Something surged.
A sharp pulse of energy ignited within him, starting deep in his chest before spreading outward. The strain in his body shifted, replaced by something far more powerful as his breathing steadied despite the pressure around him. His eyes hardened, the hesitation completely gone.
He refused to let it happen again.
"NOOO!!!"
The energy burst outward.
A brilliant aura exploded from Sora's body in a sudden, overwhelming surge, tearing through the abomination restraining him. The creature shattered under the force, its unstable form unable to withstand the intensity as it disintegrated instantly. The wave didn't stop there. It continued outward, striking the second abomination and ripping it apart just as it held Eda, releasing her as the construct dissolved completely.
The terrain itself cracked under the pressure.
The jagged spikes Warden Wrath had created shattered and collapsed as the energy wave tore through them, reducing them to scattered fragments across the battlefield. The light intensified, growing so bright that it engulfed everything in its radius, washing out all detail in a blinding glow.
For a brief moment, there was nothing but light.
The blinding light faded, leaving behind a battlefield that had been stripped of Warden Wrath's overwhelming advantage. Broken stone and scattered fragments of what remained of the abominations lay across the ground, the air still humming faintly with residual energy. For a moment, there was only silence, broken by the faint sound of someone struggling to breathe.
Warden Wrath stirred first.
He pushed himself up from the ground slowly, his body tense as he steadied his footing and lifted his head. The shock of what had just happened lingered in his posture, but it was quickly replaced by focus as his gaze locked forward. Standing at the center of the cleared battlefield was Sora.
Sora stood firm, holding Eda carefully in one arm as she gasped for air.
Eda's breathing was uneven, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she tried to recover from the strain. Her hands trembled slightly as she steadied herself against him, taking deep breaths to regain control. Without saying a word, Sora reached into his pocket and summoned a potion, bringing it up to her.
"Here," Sora said.
Eda took it without hesitation and drank. The effect was immediate as her breathing steadied, the tension in her body easing just enough for her to stand again. She wasn't fully recovered, but she was stable, her strength returning enough to keep her on her feet.
Above them, Luz guided the staff downward with King clinging tightly beside her.
They hovered closer, careful but eager to see what had happened. As they descended, Luz's expression shifted from concern to confusion, her eyes widening as she took in Sora's appearance.
"Sora?" Luz said.
King leaned forward slightly.
"Why does he look different?" King asked.
Eda straightened fully now, her attention turning to Sora as well, her expression sharpening as she noticed the change. Even Warden Wrath paused, his stance tightening as he observed the shift with growing unease.
Sora's attire had changed colors. His attire now consisted of a black v-neck t-shirt with white hemming, black long baggy shorts with now red pockets held on by now yellow straps instead of the previous gray and red. His longer black hooded jacket with red hemming and gray pockets became black while the white hemming remained, and the red flannel flaps that are held down by a series of yellow buttons also became black. His shoes are still primarily black and yellow, but the ankle and tongue of the shoe that is folded down have turned yellow instead of black. It still has the single black strap on each, however. His gray, fingerless gloves that come to a V at the wrist and are just short of his elbow are still the same. But this time, the gloves now have yellow hemming instead of red. The yellow strap around the wrist is still the same, but the silver circle plate on the back of the hands is now gold.
The air around him still carried a faint glow, subtle now, but undeniably present.
Hovering just above the battlefield, Luz steadied herself on the staff, her grip tightening as she leaned forward to take everything in. The rush of the fight, the shock of Sora's power, and the sudden shift in the air all blended in a moment she could barely process. Without realizing it, her phone was still raised, capturing every second.
Luz lowered it slightly, her voice quieter now, filled with awe and confusion. "…Sora…just…who…or…what…are you?"
Across from them, Warden Wrath clenched his fists, his composure cracking under the pressure of what he had just witnessed. "My thoughts exactly! What the heck are you?!"
Sora stood still for a moment, the faint glow around him settling as he looked forward, his expression calm but resolute. "You wanna know? I'm a guy on a simple mission to rescue a lost friend from a previous battle."
Luz, Eda, and King exchanged a glance, confusion crossing their faces.
"A previous battle…?" they echoed.
[Play Roxas's Return]
"A guy from a small island who has a purpose of his own," Sora continued, his voice steady.
Warden Wrath narrowed his eyes. "Oh? Then tell me, boy. What is your purpose?"
Sora didn't hesitate. "My purpose…is to be the hope for others. I'm the answer to all those who look for times of peace."
Luz felt something shift inside her as she listened. The words struck deeper than she expected, her imagination taking over as she pictured the kind of hero she had always believed in. For a brief moment, she could almost see the image of the Good Witch Azura standing beside him, speaking those same words.
"I'm a protector of the innocent," Sora continued. "I'm a light in the darkness. I'm the heart that connects to everyone. I'm someone who fights for my friends."
No one spoke.
Even Warden Wrath fell silent, the weight of Sora's words hanging in the air as if they carried something more than just meaning. Then Sora raised his Keyblade and pointed it directly at him, the motion sharp enough to break the stillness.
"My name is Sora," he said. "Guardian of Light!"
Behind him, something changed.
Luz felt it first, a sudden surge of energy that wasn't physical but emotional, something that lifted the weight off her chest and replaced it with something bright. King straightened, his earlier fear gone, and even Eda found herself standing a little taller.
They didn't think. They just reacted.
"GO, SORA!" Luz shouted.
"WIN THIS!" King added.
"BEAT THIS SUCKER!" Eda called out.
Sora glanced back briefly and gave them a thumbs-up. "You got it!"

[Play Death Battle: Hearts of Light]
Warden Wrath staggered back a step, his breathing uneven now, his confidence wavering under the pressure.
"No… No!" he snapped.
They all turned toward him as his voice rose again.
"I don't care what you say or what you think you are!" Warden Wrath shouted. "As the warden of the Conformatorium, as a member of the Emperor's Coven, I will not lose here!"
His arms expanded again, stretching outward and reshaping into massive blades as his stance shifted into full attack. "I will fight you to the very end!"
Sora stepped forward to meet him, his grip tightening on the Keyblade as his stance lowered.
"That so?" Sora said. "Then I guess I'll wrap this up!"
The two closed the distance in an instant, both rushing forward to bring the battle to its final clash.
Sora swung his Keyblade with decisive force, the strike connecting cleanly against Warden Wrath's guard. The impact sent a shockwave through the air, and Wrath was launched backward, his body crashing into the outer wall of the Conformatorium with enough force to crack the stone. Debris scattered outward as he hit, leaving a jagged hole where he had been driven through.
Luz, Eda, and King stared in disbelief at the display.
Wrath pushed himself upright again, shaking off the impact as his arms shifted back into blade-like forms. Without hesitation, he charged forward once more, refusing to back down despite the damage he had taken.
Behind the broken section of wall, the three prisoners cautiously peeked out from the opening he had created. They hesitated, watching the battle unfold from a distance as uncertainty held them in place.
Luz noticed.
She guided the staff down toward them, hovering just close enough to speak, her expression firm as she looked between each of them.
"Why are you guys just standing there?" Luz said. "This is your chance to escape!"
The eye-eating prisoner shifted uneasily. "The warden'll catch us. He always does."
The fanfic writer looked down, her voice quieter. "We belong here."
Tiny Nose glanced between them, her expression uncertain. "Self-doubt is a pwison you can nevaw escape fwom," she said.
The others murmured in agreement, their hesitation deepening.
Luz shook her head, stepping forward slightly on the staff as she looked at them with determination. "So, you have a different way of doing things, a different way of seeing things. That might make you weird, but it also makes you awesome. Don't you see?"
They didn't respond right away.
"Why are you helping us?" the fanfic writer asked.
"Because us weirdos have to stick together," Luz said. "And look at him."
The prisoners followed her gaze.
Sora clashed with Warden Wrath again, his smaller frame moving with speed and precision against the larger, more imposing figure. Each strike he made carried intent, each movement driven by something stronger than fear.
"He's just a kid compared to Wrath, and yet, he got you guys out," Luz continued. "And right now, he's still out there fighting for you. For all of us."
Tiny Nose's eyes widened slightly, recognition settling in. "He saved me again earlier... He didn't have to, but he did."
Luz nodded. "Right. So, we can help him too. And besides, nobody should be punished for who they are."
The three prisoners straightened, something shifting in their expressions as doubt gave way to resolve. They all cheer as Luz turns the staff around. She smiled, pulling her hood up as she turned the staff around to face the battlefield once more.
"Now," Luz said, gripping the staff tightly, "let's get 'em."
They all follow Luz to help Sora in battle.
Warden Wrath dropped to one knee, his body still recovering from the relentless exchanges, but his resolve remained intact. He inhaled deeply once more, fire building within his open mouth as the glow intensified, signaling one final, devastating attack. Across from him, Sora steadied his stance, his grip firm on the Keyblade as he prepared to end the fight.
Before either of them could act, a sudden commotion broke through the tension.
"Go, go, go, go!" Luz shouted.
The prisoners charged in.
Sora blinked, momentarily thrown off as the three of them barreled straight into Warden Wrath with reckless determination.
"Luz?" Sora said.
The eye-eating prisoner shoved Wrath from the side, forcing him off balance.
"I eat my own eyes!" he shouted.
Tiny Nose rushed in and tripped him, sending the warden stumbling forward.
"I think the world is a twiangle!" she declared.
The fanfic writer lunged next, pinning Wrath down as he struggled.
"And I practice the ancient art of fanfiction!"
Tiny Nose joined her, helping hold him in place while the eye-eating prisoner grabbed Wrath's arms and forced them together. With a quick motion, he flipped the warden onto his stomach, restraining him just long enough for Luz to descend from above.
Warden Wrath twisted his head, glaring upward.
"You!" he snapped. "Who do you think you are?"
Luz landed firmly, standing tall on the staff as the wind swept through the open battlefield, lifting her hair as she pointed directly at him.
"Do not underestimate me, Warden Wrath," Luz declared. "For I am Luz, the human, warrior of peace."
She reached into her messenger bag and pulled out the firecracker from her book report, tossing it lightly into the air before striking it cleanly with Eda's staff.
"Now eat this, sucka!"
The firecracker arced downward and dropped straight toward Wrath's open mouth—
—and then everything shifted.
[Pause Death Battle: Hearts of Light (2:25)]
A surge of dark energy burst outward from Warden Wrath, violent and sudden, forcing the prisoners off him in all directions. The restraint broke instantly as the energy pulsed, sending Tiny Nose and the others tumbling backward. Wrath twisted up from the ground with raw force, his arm snapping upward just in time to swat the incoming firecracker away.
The projectile shot back the way it came.
Straight toward Luz.
She barely had time to react as it sped toward her, the fuse already burning down.
A blur moved.
Sora stepped in and caught it at the last possible second, his hand closing around the firecracker just before it could reach her. He tightened his grip and shifted his stance, holding it away from both of them as the spark continued to crackle.
Warden Wrath rose to his full height, the dark energy still radiating faintly from him as his breathing grew heavier, more unhinged. His composure had completely broken now, replaced with raw fury.
"I've had it!" Warden Wrath roared.
His voice echoed across the battlefield as he pointed at them, his arm shaking with anger.
"All of you!" he shouted. "Freaks! Every last one of you!"
The ground seemed to tremble under the weight of his rage as he stepped forward.
"I will enforce order!" he continued. "Even if I have to beat it into every one of your skulls!"
The air tightened again as the fight reignited, heavier than before.
Luz steadied on the staff, her hands trembling as she processed just how close she had come to being hit by her own firework. Her breathing was uneven at first, quick and shallow, before she forced herself to slow it down. She shut her eyes briefly, drawing in a deeper breath, then another, trying to steady herself as the adrenaline began to settle.
"That… was way too close," Luz muttered.
Sora stepped beside her, his posture calm despite the chaos still lingering around them. He glanced at her, his tone steady and reassuring.
"You did good, Luz," Sora said. "That plan was solid."
Luz looked at him, still a little shaken.
"It didn't exactly work," she said.
"It almost did," Sora replied. "It just needs a little extra push."
He shifted his stance slightly, his expression softening.
"We can do it together."
Luz hesitated, her nerves still present, but not as overwhelming as before. She looked from Sora to Warden Wrath in the distance, then back to him again.
"I don't know…" Luz said quietly.
Sora extended his hand toward her.

"Trust me."
Luz stared at his hand for a moment, then met his eyes. Whatever hesitation she had left faded as she nodded and reached forward, placing her hand in his.
"Okay," Luz said.
Sora pulled her in smoothly, one arm wrapping around her waist to steady her as he guided them off the staff. Luz's face flushed slightly at the sudden closeness, but she didn't pull away. Instead, she held on as the two of them lifted into the air, spinning once as Sora gathered energy.
"Flare Force!" Sora called out.
A formation of glowing projectiles materialized around them—sixteen rockets, each one igniting with a sharp burst before locking onto Warden Wrath below. The air filled with the sound of their ignition as they shot upward, circling briefly before angling down toward their target.
At the same time, Luz reached into Sora's hand and took the firecracker he had caught earlier. She lit it again and launched it forward with a quick motion, sending it straight toward Wrath to follow the incoming barrage.
Both of them leaned forward in sync.
"NOW eat this, sucka!" they shouted together.
The rockets struck first.
Each impact slammed into Warden Wrath with explosive force, detonating in rapid succession as bursts of energy lit up the battlefield. The combined barrage forced him backward, his form staggering under the repeated hits.
Then the firecracker hit.
It exploded on contact, adding a second wave of impact that compounded the damage already dealt. The combined force overwhelmed him completely, the dark energy surrounding him flickering violently before collapsing altogether.
Warden Wrath fell, hitting the ground hard and didn't get back up. The battlefield went quiet again, the last traces of darkness fading as the fight finally came to an end.
The last echoes of the explosion faded into the open air as the smoke cleared, leaving Warden Wrath motionless on the ground below. The tension that had gripped the battlefield finally broke, replaced by a rising wave of cheers.

The prisoners shouted in triumph, their earlier fear completely gone as they celebrated their freedom. King jumped up and down with excitement, pumping his fists into the air, while Eda stood with a proud smirk, clearly impressed by how the fight had ended.
"That's what I'm talking about!" Eda called out.

Above them, Sora and Luz began to descend slowly, the momentum of their attack giving way to a controlled glide back toward the ground. Sora still held Luz by the waist, steadying her as they lowered together, the wind gently tugging at their clothes as everything finally calmed.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
They just looked at each other.
Sora's expression softened into a relaxed grin as he closed his eyes briefly, the tension of the fight leaving him all at once.
"We did it," Sora said.
Luz blinked, her eyes widening slightly as she took him in. There was something different now, not just the aftermath of the fight, but the way he carried himself, the confidence, the kindness, the way he had stepped in without hesitation to protect everyone. Her gaze lingered, small sparkles catching in her eyes as the realization settled in.
He really was amazing.
Her cheeks warmed, the blush deepening as she continued to look at him, caught somewhere between awe and admiration. For all the chaos they had just gone through, this moment felt strangely quiet, grounded in something simple and genuine.
She found herself smiling back.
"Yeah," Luz said. "We sure did."
Around them, the cheering continued, but for that brief moment, it felt like everything had narrowed down to just the two of them standing there, sharing the quiet after the storm.
Eda stepped forward, closing the space between herself and the two humans, and placed a hand on each of their shoulders. Her expression carried a mix of pride and relief as she looked between them.
"Great work, you two," Eda said.
King crossed his arms with a nod. "That was actually one of her better breakups."
Eda shot him a quick look.
"Not a breakup," she said. "Anyway, let's bounce before any more monsters fall in love with me."
She motioned toward the staff, and without wasting time, the three of them climbed aboard while Sora floated upward. They all flew smoothly into the air, carrying them away from the Conformatorium as the lingering fireworks continued to pop and crackle behind them.

A short while later, the familiar exterior of the Owl House came into view as they returned. The warm, dimly lit living room welcomed them back as they entered. Eda stepped off the staff first and leaned it casually against the couch, letting out a breath as she rolled her shoulders slightly.
"Well, that was quite a day, wasn't it?" Eda said.
"Totally!" Luz replied.
"Yeah," Sora added.
Eda nodded once, then shifted her attention back to Luz.

"Anyway, Luz."
"Huh?"
"A deal's a deal. Let's get you home."
She snapped her fingers, and the key slipped out of Luz's bag, flying neatly into Eda's hand. With a press of the eye, the portal door unfolded in front of the fireplace, its frame locking into place as it opened to the Human Realm beyond.
Luz stepped toward it, then slowed.
She hugged herself slightly and turned back, looking at Eda and King. King avoided her gaze, staring down at the floor with a quiet, disappointed expression. Luz reached into her bag, her movements slower now.
"Before I go…" Luz said.
She pulled out the head of her Azura doll and held it out to King.
"I know it's not the same, but… a king shouldn't be without a crown."
King accepted it carefully and placed it on his head with a small nod.
"This shall suffice," King said. "You there, plant! You are now under my command!"
He pointed off to the side and walked away, trying to maintain composure despite the moment.
Eda reached over to the table and picked up the Azura book, placing it into Luz's hands.
"Oh, and don't forget this," Eda said.
Luz took it, along with the Reality Check Summer Camp pamphlet resting on top. She turned toward the portal again, her grip tightening slightly as she stared down at the pamphlet. After a moment, she slid it beneath the book and stepped forward, stopping just before the doorway.
Her gaze lifted to the mirror above the fireplace, which caught her attention.
Luz raised the book, her eyes widening slightly as she compared the cover to the reflection. The image of Azura in the foreground mirrored her own position, while behind her, the figures of Eda and King aligned almost perfectly with the background figures in the illustration. It took her a second to fully process it.
Then she glanced toward Sora.
Something in her expression shifted, brightening as she turned back around to face Eda.
"Okay," Luz said. "I know you got your head cut off, and we started some kind of prison riot, but this was the most fun I've ever had."
Eda blinked, caught off guard.
"I don't fit in at home," Luz continued. "You don't fit in here. If I stay, we could not fit in together."
She pulled the pamphlet back out, looked at it one last time, and crumpled it in her hand.
"I'm not going back to summer camp."
Eda let out a short laugh.
"What's summer camp?" Eda said. "What are we talking about here?"
"I want to stay and become a witch like you," Luz said, holding up her book. "And Azura."
Eda laughed again, louder this time. "What? All right, that's crazy." She pushed the book down gently. "Humans can't become witches."
"Maybe that's because they haven't tried," Luz said. "If you teach me, I'll do anything you want."
"Let her stay," King tugged at Eda's dress insistently, then lowered his voice. "She can make us snacks."
Eda smiled despite herself and picked him up. "Well, I could use a hand keeping this goofball out of the cupboards."
"All right. I'll teach you how to be a witch. But you have to work for me before you learn any spells." She looked back at Luz and extended her hand. "Deal?"
Luz looked at her hand for only a moment before breaking into a wide grin. Instead of shaking it, she stepped forward and pulled both Eda and King into a tight hug.
"Gah! What's going on?" Eda said.
"Too tight! Too tight!" King shouted.

Across the room, Sora watched quietly, a small smile forming as he took in the moment.
Luz quickly let go, stepping back as the moment settled. All three of them then turned toward Sora, who had been quietly watching from where he stood.
Eda walked over to him. "So, you didn't find your friend?"
Sora shook his head.
Eda sighed softly. "Sorry, kid."
"It's okay," Sora said. "I have this."
He held up the charm Luz had found.
"What's that?" Eda asked.
"It's my friend's lucky charm," Sora explained. "Luz found it when she was with King. If it was there, that means she was too."
"Kairi is her name," Luz added.
"Kairi?" Eda repeated.
Sora blinked. "Oh, I guess I never told you her name either."
"Well, I never asked," Eda said.
"In any case," Sora continued, "I know she's in this world somewhere. And I'm not going home until I find her."
"You must care about her a lot," Luz said.
"I do." Sora nodded.
Eda lets out a chuckle.
"Sorry, but that mushy stuff sounds cheesy," Eda said. "Still… you helped us out a lot back there. And I won't lie, your skills could come in handy."
Sora looked up at her.
"Until you find this Kairi girl, you're welcome to stay here with us."
"Really?" Sora asked.
"Of course," Eda said. "Like Luz, you'll have to help out from time to time. Deal?" She held out her hand again.
"Sounds fair," Sora said. "Deal."
He moved to shake her hand, but Eda and King both flinched slightly.
"What's wrong?" Sora asked.
"Oh—nothing," Eda said. "I thought you were gonna do what Luz just did."
"You mean…hug?"
"Yeah."
Sora let out a small chuckle. "No. Just a handshake."
"Oh. Good."
They shook hands.
"Alright," Eda said, clapping once. "Everything's settled. Come on, I'll show you the rooms upstairs. Time to hit the hay."
With that, she turned and started toward the stairs, the others following as the day finally came to a close.

The creaking door to the small storage room opened slowly as Luz stepped inside, the dim light from the hallway stretching across the floor before fading behind her. The space was cluttered but quiet, filled with old odds and ends that had been pushed aside over time. She set her bag down, unrolled her sleeping bag across a clear patch of floor, and dropped onto it with a tired sigh.
Rolling onto her side, Luz reached into her messenger bag and pulled out a small framed photo. It was a picture of her and her mom, both smiling brightly. She traced her thumb gently across the glass, lingering for a moment before placing the frame beside her pillow. Her phone buzzed in her hand, breaking the quiet.
She glanced down.
A message from her mom with a heart emoji next to it read: How's summer camp? Luz's expression fell slightly. She lowered the phone, her shoulders sinking as the weight of the question settled in.
A soft knock came from the door.
Luz looked up and pushed herself to her feet, walking over to open it. Sora stood just outside, his posture relaxed but thoughtful as he held something in his hand.
"Hey, what's up?" Luz asked.
Sora lifted the charm slightly.
"I wanted to say thanks again for finding Kairi's charm," Sora said. "It means a lot. To her and to me."
Luz smiled warmly.
"You're welcome," she said. "And thank you for saving us from Warden Wrath."
Sora let out a small chuckle.
A brief silence settled between them, not uncomfortable, just quiet. Luz shifted her weight slightly, gathering her thoughts before speaking again.
"Hey, Sora?" Luz said.
"Yeah?"
"This might sound kind of out of nowhere, but…"
Sora tilted his head slightly. "Hm?"
Luz hesitated, then pushed through it. "Do you… wanna be… friends?"
Sora blinked, a little surprised by the question. "Friends?"
They stood there for a moment, looking at each other, the pause stretching just long enough to make Luz second-guess herself. Then Sora let out a soft laugh.
"Funny," Sora said. "I thought we already were."
Luz's eyes widened slightly.
He already thought we were? she thought.
"You found Kairi's charm and gave it to me," Sora continued. "You helped those prisoners back there, lifted their spirits. I can tell you're a good person, Luz. But yeah, I'd like to be your friend. Having friends is a good thing."
That was all it took.
Before she could stop herself, Luz stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a hug. Sora stiffened slightly in surprise.
"Whoa, Luz?"
Her grip tightened just a little.
It was subtle, but Sora could hear it—a faint, uneven breath, like she was holding something back. He didn't ask why. Instead, he gently returned the hug, resting a hand on her back in a quiet attempt to comfort her.
After a few moments, they both pulled away.
Luz looked up at him, her expression steadier now.
"Hey," Luz said. "I know you'll find Kairi someday."
Sora nodded.
"I know."
"And you won't do it alone," Luz added. "While one friend's out there, you've got another one right here. I'll help you. Okay?"
Sora gave a small nod.
"Okay. Good night, Luz."
"Good night, Sora."
Sora turned and headed back down the hall, leaving Luz standing in the doorway for a moment before she stepped back inside. She flopped onto her sleeping bag again, quickly wiping away the last traces of tears from her eyes.
A small noise came from the doorway.
Luz looked up to see King standing there, holding Francois in his arms.
"Your sleep cocoon looks fluffy," King said.
Luz smiled and patted the sleeping bag.
King climbed in without hesitation, curling up near her feet as he settled in. Within seconds, he was asleep.
Luz glanced down at him, her smile softening before she picked up her phone again.
I think I'm gonna like it here. Oh! And good news, Mamá. I made my very first friend today! Wait till I tell you all about him! Luz texted.
She then closes her messages and looks back at the video she recorded of Sora's battle, once again seeing how incredible Sora was in his prowess against the warden and the words of his purpose.
Elsewhere in the house, Sora lay in his own sleeping bag, the faint glow of the room casting soft shadows around him. He held Kairi's charm in his hand, turning it slightly as he looked at it one last time.
"I'll find you soon, Kairi," Sora said quietly. "I promise."
He paused, then allowed a small smile to form.
"And I've got a friend to help me."
He closed his eyes, letting sleep take him.
Outside, the Owl House stood quietly under the night sky. The large stained-glass eye above the door blinked once, watching over everything as the house settled into silence.
