Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: One Shot, One Kill

"Ursaring?"

Isn't that big brown bear with the yellow circle on its belly an Ursaring?

Judging by their uniforms, they must be soldiers from the Dragon Kingdom.

Fei Xiao walked slowly toward the Ursaring. She glanced briefly at Liu Guang as she passed, picked up the arrow from earlier, and paid him no further mind.

"Ursaring, calm down and tell me what happened here," Fei Xiao said as she continued to move forward slowly.

"Wait a moment, miss, be careful."

The captain, having regained his composure, hurriedly warned the young woman as he watched her approach the giant bear, standing up to try and stop her.

The other team members were also preparing to take action.

Fei Xiao noticed their actions, stopped in her tracks, and turned her head to warn them, "If you don't want things to get even more complicated, I suggest you stay still."

Hearing the woman's words, they instinctively froze.

Fei Xiao turned back to look.

The Ursaring stood up again, let out a roar, completely ignoring Fei Xiao's words, and prepared to charge again.

"Sigh, it really won't listen, will it? Then I'm sorry, Ursaring."

Fei Xiao felt helpless. Although she had anticipated that she might not be able to reason with it, she hadn't expected it to completely ignore her.

She raised her bow again. As the bowstring was drawn, the group could clearly see green airflow swirling around the arrow, and the woman's hair fluttered in the wind.

She watched as the Ursaring, with energy gathering throughout its body, charged at her again.

"High Horsepower, huh? You're really not holding back."

The arrow shot out, striking the Ursaring's chest with precision and speed. The creature's skill was interrupted by the hit, and it fell straight backward.

One shot, and it was down?

With a loud thud, the group was left dumbfounded. It was only when the woman lowered her bow and turned to look at them that they snapped out of their daze.

The captain, while checking Liu Guang's injuries, asked the woman, "Is... is it over?" fearing it might ambush them again.

"It's just unconscious; the arrow didn't have a tip," Fei Xiao answered truthfully. After all, she had only wanted to make the Ursaring calm down, so she had held back her strength in both shots.

"However?"

Fei Xiao walked over to check on the Ursaring. She was puzzled; she had only intended to interrupt it, not put it to sleep. A creature capable of using High Horsepower should be at least level 40, so this shouldn't have happened. Had she used too much force?

Looking closer, she realized it was a tranquilizer dart. She pulled out the culprit and walked over to the group.

The others had regrouped, but they were terrified as they watched the woman's actions.

"Careful, even though the magical beast is unconscious, it's best to be cautious," Xiao Yan said, quite shocked to see Fei Xiao walk right up and remove the tranquilizer.

"Let's finish it off now, then take the other magical beast and leave quickly. Otherwise, it'll be trouble when it wakes up," the captain said, analyzing the situation rationally.

"What did you just say!!!"

Fei Xiao demanded angrily.

The group was startled, not knowing why Fei Xiao was suddenly angry.

It was then that Fei Xiao noticed a small figure sleeping beside the two unconscious men, and she stepped forward to gently pick it up.

Wasn't this little bear with the moon mark on its face a Teddiursa?

Case closed. No wonder the Ursaring was so angry it wouldn't even listen to her. Its child had been captured—did they really expect it to reason with them?

She took a berry from her person and fed it to the cub.

"Awoo."

After a soft whimper, the Teddiursa woke up, eyes still bleary with sleep. But when its gaze accidentally landed on the fallen Ursaring, it immediately began to wail, scrambled out of her arms, ran to the Ursaring's side, and pushed at its mommy's arm, trying to wake it up.

The group was very surprised to see the magical beast wake up so quickly after Fei Xiao fed it the green fruit.

They had expected it to attack the woman, but...

The captain instinctively picked up the gun he had dropped earlier and aimed it at the cub.

Xiao Yan, unable to bear the sight, said, "Captain Yang, wait."

Fei Xiao was faster, snatching the gun away and throwing it aside in an instant.

The captain felt incredulous as he looked at the woman. He hadn't reacted at all; he hadn't even seen her move.

Looking at the cub's situation and recalling his own actions, the captain seemed to understand why the woman had been angry just now.

"Sorry."

Fearing he might provoke the woman, he chose to apologize.

Fei Xiao just nodded casually, then walked over to the Teddiursa and stroked its head to comfort it. "Don't worry, your mommy is just asleep. She'll wake up in a little while."

The Teddiursa turned its head, looking at Fei Xiao with teary eyes, as if verifying the truth of her words.

"Little one, don't you trust me? Here, take these. Eat them with your mommy when she wakes up. They're delicious."

Fei Xiao helped wipe away its tears and took out the rest of the berries from her backpack.

Seeing so many delicious treats, the Teddiursa became happy instantly.

Good grief, your mommy is lying right there, and you're this happy? You're going to be the death of your mother with that filial piety. And here I was feeling guilty.

Seeing it want to eat but hesitating, Fei Xiao laughed out loud.

"Alright, go ahead and eat. There's enough for both of you."

After saying this, Fei Xiao dragged the Ursaring to a tree and let it lean against it. The Teddiursa took a berry, sat under its mommy's arm, ate a couple of bites, and fell asleep again.

[Ding, Teddiursa's mood detected as happy, points +5]

Fei Xiao breathed a sigh of relief after seeing this. This could be considered resolved. As for the Ursaring, she would let it sleep a bit longer to avoid trouble when it woke up. The extra berries would serve as compensation.

Now, it was time to deal with these intruders.

The group was very surprised to have witnessed the entire process of the woman comforting the magical beast.

Seeing the woman approach, the captain, knowing she was definitely not an ordinary person, spoke first.

"Hello, thank you for saving us. I am the team captain, Yang Lingfeng."

"Hello, I'm Jiao Xiaoyan. You can call me Xiao Yan. You're so amazing!" The young woman dropped the injured person she was supporting and looked at Fei Xiao with a face full of admiration.

The dark-skinned man almost fell over. "Ouch, damn it, Xiao Yan, you're really quick to let go!" After regaining his footing, he introduced himself, "Hello, I'm Zhou Long. The one lying on the ground is Liu Guang."

"Hello everyone, my name is Fei Xiao."

Fei Xiao replied to them with a smile.

At this moment, seeing Fei Xiao's smile clearly, the few grown men were momentarily stunned.

Jiao Xiaoyan was also shocked. She was just too beautiful—truly both beautiful and cool.

Jiao Xiaoyan grabbed Fei Xiao's hand directly. "Fei Xiao, you're so amazing! How did you do that just now? You took down such a powerful magical beast in one go!"

Looking at the enthusiastic Jiao Xiaoyan, Fei Xiao was momentarily at a loss. Feeling the warmth from her palm, her cheeks felt a little hot.

She had been a total loner in her past life; she hadn't expected her first time holding hands with someone of the opposite sex to be after she became a girl.

"Fei Xiao, what's wrong?"

Seeing Fei Xiao standing there stunned, Jiao Xiaoyan looked confused.

"Ahem, it's nothing. You're all injured. Come to my place to rest first. You can ask questions later."

After hearing this, the group seemed to realize the issue.

"Fei Xiao, you... live here?" Jiao Xiaoyan looked around at the wilderness, unable to imagine if there were magical beasts nearby. Could people really live in a place like this?

"Yes, this is my yard. My house is not far away."

After saying this, the bow in Fei Xiao's hand dissolved into fluorescent light and vanished. She proactively hoisted one of the unconscious people and led the way toward her cabin.

But the group's hearts were even more unsettled. What did she just say?

A yard?

You keep magical beasts in your yard?

The group felt their scalps tingle. And where did that bow go?

However, after Liu Guang had relaxed just now, he suddenly felt exhausted and had passed out.

Jiao Xiaoyan and Zhou Long continued to support Liu Guang, one on each side, while the captain, carrying the other team member on his back, took one last look at the two sleeping bears and followed in Fei Xiao's footsteps.
