Chapter 93 - New Generations

The young Manananggals flourished under Glad's mentorship.

Maya, the first to defect, became her closest apprentice—learning council politics, community organizing, and (most importantly) how to handle sudden fame.

"It's weird," Maya admitted. "People recognize me now. Want photos. Interviews."

"Welcome to my life."

"How do you handle it?"

"Badly, mostly. But genuinely. People can tell when you're fake. Just be yourself—awkward wings and all."

The others found their paths too. Some joined the foundation. Some started businesses. One, a boy named Kaloy, discovered a talent for creature-human mediation and became the community's youngest negotiator.

"Young doesn't matter," Glad told him. "Wisdom does. And you've got it."

Even Ariel's mother Amihan found purpose, teaching creature history to young ones who'd never known the old ways.

"They should understand where we came from," she said. "Even if they choose a different future."

The community expanded—new buildings, new programs, new families. Children born to creature parents, growing up open and unafraid. Humans and creatures intermarrying, their unions celebrated by both communities.

"We're building something that will outlast us," Glad realized one day, watching the chaos. "Something that will keep growing, changing, becoming."

"That's called legacy," Kim said.

"I guess so."

"A good one."

"A lucky one."

"Not luck. You."

Glad shook her head. "I just got filmed."

"You just built. There's a difference."

Maybe Kim was right.

Maybe she'd done something worth doing.
