Riya and her brother Aarav were traveling with their scientist mother to the Amazon rainforest.
The Amazon was huge and full of amazing wildlife. There were colorful birds, tall trees, and rivers flowing through the forest.
One morning, while walking with a guide, the children noticed a small trail leading away from the main path.
Curious, they followed it for a short distance. Soon they realized they had wandered too far.
The forest was thick, and they could no longer see the guide.
Aarav stayed calm. "We should follow the sound of water," he said.
They heard a river nearby and walked toward it. Along the way they saw monkeys jumping through the trees and bright butterflies flying around them.
Finally, they reached a small riverbank.
While waiting there, they noticed something interesting—a rare bird sitting on a branch nearby. It had bright blue feathers and a long tail.
Riya took a photo with her camera.
Soon their guide and mother found them near the river. They were relieved that the children were safe.
When they returned to the research station, the scientists were amazed by the photo.
The bird turned out to be a rare species that had not been seen in that area before.
Riya and Aarav's small adventure helped scientists learn something new about the rainforest.
