"Everyone, this discussion is getting nowhere please let's establish the facts Miranda, come up, please" Although everyone was already staring at her, she walked to the front of the group. "I can verify that this is indeed the lord's words; the announcement you're hearing is made by a squeaker crow that was specially made just to bring urgent announcements to small villages like this" At her words, the atmosphere grew from panic to a grim stillness.
She took the initiative to continue talking "As for the beasts rampaging theres many reasons for that, but what is common amongst all is that it is an incredibly powerful phenomenon causing it, and truth be told, if even two beasts come attacking the village, I won't be able to protect it, nor do I really have any reason too" The villages last hope shattered as no dared to speak up however someone had too as Rotund looked at Miranda and asked "So what do you suggest we do?" She looked at Rotund deeply and said, "Run to the nearest city and don't slow down" She looked at Kabel for a second before sighing and saying ", I'll come and provide some security, but I don't know how much help I'll be"
With a goal and a way the villgers got too work loading up enough food to and supplies on horsewagons to get too the nearist city Bermuda as Rotund was busy shouting orders organsisign the mob "Don't bring anything non-essential we need to be as light as possible!" Kabel instead looked up at saw the speaker crow that Miranda mentioned.
It was a small fat black bird that seemingly levitated in the air instead of flapping it's wings and had a unnaturally large beak that was open wide at almost a 180 degree angle. Kabel got knocked out of his day dreaming as Miranda approached while everyone else was busy working.
She came closer and whispered "worst case scenario I take you and we run okay?" She expected Kabel to fight and protest after all she just suggested leaving all of his friends and family to die while he ran. Kabel looked at Miranda and simply agreed before going back to looking at the bird.
Miranda was dumbfounded as her pre-prepared speech was caught in her throat "What? Why?" Was all she could say. Kabel didn't even bother too look at her before saying "You eat cows and crush insects and dont have anything wrong with it, in a similar manner if we meet a beast that is stronger we can only blame ourselves for being born wrong and not training in the end the only person to blame for their deaths is themselves" Mirranda looked him up and down and decided not too say anything. "His false confidence might actually help if an emergency does arise"
She then walked off before helping with the preparations to leave. Kabel was done studying the speaker crow so he went over too one of the few horse carriages stuffed too the brim with people. Even so when he walked over and decided to sit down many people made space for him and three even moved too a different more cramped carriage. As he sat down he scanned the horse carriage and found Betta crying in Coles arms.
He would've normally made a quip but even Cole was far too distressed truth be told he wasn't far from bursting in tears himself. Kabel could see the wasn't the time so he simply sat next too them and soon they set off.
There were only 6 carriages in total 3 of which were for supplies while the other three carried people. There was a carriage of people at the front and back and in the middle to allow for a watch. All of the children sat in the middle carriage along with some of the women as that would be the safest position. Kabel Betta and cole were sat in the front carriage which he didn't mind.
Unlike everyone else Kabel was quite excited after all he had only visted the forest outside the village and not any futher. As time passed and Betta fell asleep in Coles arms he looked up and stared into Kabel eyes. "You're the smartest guy I know whats our actual chances" No matter how everyone in the village felt about him they all knew that he was very well educated and he always had a book in hand so they all stared and listened in. "Honestly" Kabel looked and scanned the formation "We'll need hell of alot of luck" Cole Merely looked defeated and stared at the carriage wooden floor.
