Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: The Night Everything Turned

The photos appeared online just after midnight. At first it was only a few posts of blurry images from inside Swan Angels Private Hospital.

Images showing a powerful man on the floor, a terrified woman clutching a torn blouse and another man shielding her with his jacket. Then someone recognized the faces.

Within minutes the posts exploded across every social platform.

VICTOR OLIVERO ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING DAUGHTER-IN-LAW IN PRIVATE HOSPITAL

OLIVERO HOLDINGS SCANDAL EXPLODES

NATHAN OLIVERO PROTECTS PREGNANT WIFE IN SHOCKING INCIDENT

News channels picked it up before dawn. Security footage from the hospital lobby soon followed.

Victor entering the room alone with Mira.

Minutes later....Nurses rushing in.

Nathan storming through the corridor.

By sunrise, Victor Olivero's reputation which was built over four decades was collapsing in real time.

Inside Olivero Holdings headquarters, the boardroom television played the coverage on repeat.

Director Mike stared at the screen in disbelief.

"This… this is catastrophic."

Another director shook his head. "He attacked his own daughter-in-law."

The footage replayed again.

Nathan covering Mira with his jacket. Her shaking hands gripping the fabric.

Director Patel spoke quietly.

"We can't protect him anymore."

Mike nodded slowly.

"Prepare the public statement." The words felt final.

Victor Olivero, founder of Olivero Holding was being removed from all remaining company affiliations.

Across the city, Victor watched the same coverage in silence.

The phone on his desk rang nonstop.

Lawyers. Journalists.

Political allies suddenly refusing to answer his calls.

Victor muted the television.

For the first time in years, his control over the narrative had vanished. He stared at the frozen image on screen. Nathan holding Mira. Victor's eyes hardened.

"You've chosen your side," he murmured.

Meanwhile, at the penthouse, Mira was pale.

Too pale.

Nathan noticed it immediately.

"You look dizzy," he said softly.

"I'm okay," she whispered.

But she wasn't.

Ever since the hospital incident, the fear hadn't left her body. Her hands trembled constantly. Her stomach felt tight and uncomfortable. Nathan crouched beside her.

"Are you feeling pain?"

She hesitated.

"…a little."

Nathan's expression sharpened instantly.

"How long?"

"Since earlier."

His heart dropped.

"Mira."

Before he could finish, she suddenly winced and grabbed his arm.

Nathan didn't hesitate. "We're going to the hospital."

The maternity wing was quiet and brightly lit. Doctors moved quickly once they learned who Mira was — and what had happened hours earlier. Nathan paced outside the examination room like a caged animal. Every second stretched painfully. Finally the doctor stepped out.

Nathan moved instantly.

"How is she?"

The doctor spoke carefully.

"Your wife is experiencing stress-related complications."

Nathan felt the air leave his lungs.

"What does that mean?"

"The baby's heartbeat is stable," the doctor said quickly.

Relief flickered across Nathan's face.

"But the physical and emotional shock she experienced tonight placed significant strain on her body."

Nathan's jaw tightened.

"Is the baby in danger?"

The doctor answered honestly.

"If the stress continues… there could be risks."

Nathan closed his eyes briefly.

All the anger he felt toward his father suddenly burned even hotter. Victor hadn't just attacked Mira. He had endangered their child. The doctor placed a reassuring hand on Nathan's shoulder.

"She needs rest. Safety. Calm."

Nathan nodded.

"I'll make sure she has it."

Inside the room, Mira lay quietly against the pillows.

Nathan walked in and sat beside her. She looked exhausted.

"I'm sorry," she whispered.

Nathan frowned.

"For what?"

"For causing more problems."

Nathan shook his head firmly.

"You didn't cause anything."

He brushed a strand of hair from her forehead.

"My father did."

Mira looked down at her stomach.

"I felt scared today."

Nathan's voice softened.

"You're safe now."

She reached for his hand.

"But what if he tries again?"

Nathan held her fingers tightly.

"He won't."

"Why?"

Nathan's eyes darkened slightly.

"Because the world just saw who he really is."

By morning, the fallout had become unstoppable.

Major investors announced they were withdrawing support from Victor Olivero's private ventures.

The Olivero board released its statement.

Victor Olivero was officially removed from all advisory roles and stripped of honorary chairman status.

Financial media called it the most dramatic corporate fall in decades.

One headline summed it up simply:

THE KING HAS FALLEN

Nathan watched the coverage quietly from the hospital room. Mira slept beside him. Her breathing slow but steady. Nathan looked at her gently. Then at the ultrasound photo the doctor had given them.

His child.

His family.

Victor had nearly destroyed both.

Nathan's phone buzzed.

Agent Carter.

"Nathan." Carter spoke calmly.

"The hospital incident gave us additional leverage."

Nathan's voice was quiet. "Meaning?"

"Victor Hale is about to lose more than his reputation."

Nathan understood immediately.

The investigation was closing in. Nathan ended the call and looked out the hospital window at the city skyline. For years, Victor Olivero had ruled this city like an untouchable king.

But kings fell and now the entire world was watching it happen.

Nathan whispered softly to himself.

"It's almost over."

But deep down....He knew one truth about his father.

Victor Hale was many things.

Cruel.

Ruthless.

Dangerous....and men like that

never fell quietly.
