Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Canterlot Summer Sun Celebration

In the blink of an eye, time flew by. Foals grow up quickly, but Aurora learned knowledge even faster than she grew.

Now, she was able to use her hooves to climb into the study to read. She used every available moment to study everything she was interested in. She finished the thick Chronicles of Equestria and also learned the basic theoretical knowledge of magic.

Aurora's parents couldn't believe that a child would be willing to read through so many dry texts, and even remember most of them. They defined this incredible behavior as the pattern of a genius.

As for Aurora, she didn't care about the outside world's opinion of her. She simply considered herself a fan who had gotten her wish and was just enjoying her own fun.

During the time Aurora was growing up, she learned a piece of news that finally allowed her to determine the timeline she was currently in.

That was the news of the birth of Twilight Sparkle, the daughter of Mr. Night Light and Ms. Twilight Twinkle.

Along with the fact that her mother and Twilight Twinkle were friends in the same club, Aurora learned both of these things at the same time.

"Twilight Sparkle..."

She had originally learned about my little pony mainly through the dubbed animation, and had always used the name "T.S" to refer to the protagonist of the story.

Although it was just a different translation of the same name, based on Aurora's current understanding, it was more appropriate to call her Twilight Sparkle.

After learning this news, Aurora just breathed a sigh of relief and didn't pay any more attention to the situation of this future Princess of Friendship.

The current Twilight Sparkle was just a rowdy, troublesome kid, and it would be a few years before she grew into the bookworm in her memories.

However, knowing that Twilight Sparkle was even younger than her gave Aurora more time to develop.

Recently, she had been researching more complex magic, wanting to learn a few more powerful spells to cope with the entrance exam for the School for Gifted Unicorns.

In her memory, both Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle's exam results had blown the roof off the school building, so following this standard, she also planned to make a big splash during the exam.

At the very least, such a score would definitely guarantee a pass!

It was strange to say, but Aurora had been exploring her own magic for some years now, yet she had never truly discovered where her limits were. Now that she already knew her raw magical power far exceeded that of her peers, she didn't dare to truly exert her magic at full strength.

I'm afraid that before she had enough knowledge to master them, she probably wouldn't have the chance to use her full strength, because losing control was unacceptable to Aurora; she still felt that staying grounded was safer.

The magic in my little pony was more like a form of idealistic power; as long as your imagination was rich enough and your magical power supported the spellcasting, theoretically, you could achieve anything through magic.

But in practice, magic still needed to be paired with certain theoretical formulas.

In layman's terms, idealism determined the upper limit of magic, while formulas determined its lower limit.

You could use idealistic power to "burst" and defeat Discord, or have a sudden inspiration to swap the cutie marks of two Alicorns, but without theoretical logic to support it, it would be difficult to replicate this effect again.

However, there were too many things in this world that contradicted Aurora's understanding, and it was hard for her to understand the logic behind them using her own concepts. Therefore, despite having endless magical power, her path to learning magic was not all smooth sailing.

Sometimes Aurora really envied the "I think it works" power of those hot-blooded protagonists. If she had that kind of wisdom, "bursting" might become a standard skill.

But she was just thinking about it casually. She was very satisfied with her current pace, and as a pony, she had plenty of time to study magic, so she was not in a hurry.

Today was this year's Summer Sun Celebration, commemorating the day a thousand years ago when Celestia defeated Nightmare Moon and sealed her on the moon, while all of Equestria would welcome the longest day of the year.

This year's Summer Sun Celebration was being held in Canterlot, and Princess Celestia would raise the sun in the presence of the ponies.

In order to observe the process of Celestia raising the sun up close, Aurora had arrived early and secured a good spot in the front row in advance.

She really wanted to know how the sun was raised. In the pony world, many natural phenomena that existed in the Human World required magic to complete, and even the sun and moon required living beings to manually switch them, which couldn't help but make one feel that this world was a bit too ridiculous.

However, my little pony was, after all, a children's show, so it was understandable that magic was omnipotent to this extent.

Precisely because of this, theoretically speaking, as long as one had enough magical power and understood the logic of magical operation, then Aurora could also achieve control over the rising and setting of the sun and moon.

Of course, she had no interest in public positions like controlling celestial bodies and weather; she mostly wanted to understand the principles behind it, and perhaps after learning it, it could extend to other unexpected uses.

"Sorry, excuse me..."

The crowd of ponies behind her stirred, and a purple little Unicorn squeezed into the spot next to Aurora. Because they were both still just Foals, by squeezing together a little, there was plenty of room for one spot.

Aurora moved aside to help the Foal stand steady.

"Oh, thank you!"

Feeling Aurora's kindness, the purple Foal smiled at her to express her gratitude.

"Huh? This color scheme, could it be Twilight Sparkle?"

Come to think of it, it seemed that Twilight Sparkle's childhood interest in magic was sparked after she saw Celestia raise the sun, which filled her with admiration.

Aurora took a nonchalant glance at the purple Foal's flank; it was still bare, without a cutie mark.

That made sense; if it was Twilight Sparkle, she would only obtain her cutie mark on the day she became the princess's student.
