Chapter 98 - Chapter 97: Dragons Descend from the Sky, the King Bows

Chapter 97: Dragons Descend from the Sky, the King Bows

King's Landing had fallen into chaos. Ever since King Aegon II's Sunfyre and Prince Aemond's Vhagar took flight from the Dragonpit and never returned to King's Landing, the entire city had been plunged into panic and disorder. Especially after Queen Helaena's Dreamfyre also flew away from King's Landing, an uneasy atmosphere permeated everywhere, from the Red Keep to Flea Bottom.

Littlefinger's brothel. This was one of the best brothels in all of King's Landing, with extremely luxurious interior decorations. Many years ago, it was a place where Prince Daemon Targaryen lingered, and later, King Aegon II often frequented it. Prince Aemond also occasionally came here to relax. The owner, Mysaria, also known as the "White Worm," was a stunning beauty with skin like congealed cream in her youth. She started as a dancer from Lys, skillfully navigating between high-ranking officials and the underworld of King's Landing, eventually becoming a pivotal figure in the city's underground world. No one knew who this now obese old woman truly served, only that she never lacked money or customers. Every day, her brothel, with its enormous bathhouse, was bustling with people.

Ross Laget, the newly appointed captain of the City Watch of King's Landing, sat up naked, startled from the arms of a dancer. He had dreamt again of dragons descending from the sky, burning King's Landing. The captain gasped for breath, and after a long while, remembered to pull the expensive silk velvet quilt over his bare body.

"Sir, what's wrong?" The dancer was also startled by the captain.

Ross Laget irritably scratched his hair and pulled open the silk curtain by his bed. "Mysaria! Mysaria! Change her! I'll pay more!"

Mysaria soon emerged from behind a luxurious marble pillar. Although her body was now obese, her pale, smooth skin was still the same as when she was young. "Captain, did my girl not satisfy you again?" The White Worm gestured with her eyes for the dancer to leave quickly, then sat on the large bed and drew the curtains.

"Lady Mysaria, tell me, whose woman are you really?" Ross leaned against the curtain, glanced outside, then lowered his voice and whispered into Mysaria's ear. "Now Queen Rhaenyra's fleet has blockaded the Gullet, and the southern roads are also blocked. The smallfolk of King's Landing can barely afford bread, so how do you still have perfumes from the Free Cities and luxury goods from Essos?"

"And who are you loyal to?" Mysaria retorted. "Captain, as far as I know, you were among the men personally cloaked in gold by Prince Daemon Targaryen."

"You know?" Ross was so startled that he pushed Mysaria onto the bed, then immediately pulled his hand back in a panic. "My lady Mysaria, I'm sorry, I..."

Before he could finish, Mysaria pressed a finger to his lips. "Captain, from the day he sent me away, I swore never to love anyone again." There was a hint of sadness in Mysaria's voice, but only a hint, which she quickly masked well. "Sir, there are only a few places in King's Landing where I do not have eyes. But there are no secrets I do not know."

Mysaria smiled faintly. "Do you want to hear? That fellow in Flea Bottom who calls himself a knight, whose sword you confiscated last month, his little squire is rumored to be the king's bastard—but he is not." Mysaria pointed upward, then outward. "That little bald man from the Street of Silk, his whore mother always said he was the king's bastard, but he is not."

"I'm not interested in these rumors." Ross clearly didn't want to hear them.

"Alright, alright, what's the hurry? I will tell you." Mysaria finally leaned into Ross's ear and whispered, "Queen Rhaenyra is coming back. Dragons will descend upon King's Landing tomorrow at sunrise."

Ross shuddered. "But the king, the queen, the prince, and almost all the members of the Small Council have left..."

"The Dowager Queen Alicent is still here, and a few of House Hightower remain." Mysaria wrapped her arms around the Gold Cloaks captain's neck. "Prince Daemon will land at the Red Keep. You know what to do, right?"

Ross immediately sat up straight, cold sweat pouring down his back. "I know, I know."of King's Landing. Only the House Hightower soldiers still tried to resist, but they unfortunately ran into Vermax and Tyraxes and were drenched head-on by the Dragonflame of the two young Dragons. All 13 House Hightower Knights were burned to ashes by the Dragonflame.

"She's here." Looking at the Dragons outside the window, Dowager Queen Alicent realized this day had finally come. She sighed deeply, preparing to leave her room, but ran directly into her brother, Ser Garmon Hightower. "Sister, run."

Dowager Queen Alicent shook her head: "I can't run away." She said, "Only if I stay will that bitch temporarily shift her gaze away from my children."

"No." Garmon grabbed Alicent, intending to leave: "You are my Sister. I cannot abandon you."

"Garmon, listen to me." Alicent pulled away from Garmon's hand. "Run quickly. Once you're out, send a raven to Father and Lord Manderly, tell them that the bitch Queen has been lured into King's Landing by us. Remember, this is your mission."

"But—"

"I command you in the name of the Dowager."

Only then did Garmon turn and run out. As soon as he rushed to the Red Keep's stables, he ran into someone.

Ross Laget shoved Garmon to the ground. Garmon looked at the captain in disbelief: "You traitor, the skin on your back was given to you by my Sister and the King."

"Bullshit." Ross cleanly stabbed a sword into the Dowager's brother's stomach: "My skin was given by Daemon." He tugged at his Gold Cloaks: "It's Gold inside and out."

In just a few hours, the bells of King's Landing rang.

The Dragons landed one after another, roaring at the sky, accompanied by the melodious bell tolls, telling all the people of King's Landing.

Their Queen had returned.

Queen Rhaenyra slowly approached the Iron Throne, gently caressed its sharp points, and slowly sat down. She had finally achieved her wish of sitting on this seat. The Serpent's soldiers searched the entire Red Keep but did not find Queen Helena and her children. They released the Black Party supporters who had been imprisoned by the Green Party from the dungeons. These emaciated people changed into new clothes and flocked into the Throne Room to pledge loyalty to their Queen, who had rescued them.

Dowager Queen Alicent was escorted by Captain Ross. The Dowager was not shackled; this was the Queen's request. "She is my stepmother after all, and she deeply loved my Father." These were the Queen's original words.

"Rhaenyra." Alicent looked at Rhaenyra, armored on the throne, and at the Dragon Knights below the Iron Throne, especially Dragonzel and Valarr, who were leaning on Valyrian steel swords, standing out distinctly.

Let's negotiate." The Dowager still tried to negotiate: "Let's convene a Great Council, let the lords decide the succession to the throne. Rhaenyra, my son is still outside; there could be no better terms."

"Alicent, do you take me for a fool?" Rhaenyra laughed: "Your son's Dragon is dead. Do you think your son can still be alive?"

Alicent's face instantly changed color. "That's impossible!"

Dragonzel sighed, looking helplessly at the Queen on the Iron Throne, and shook his head.

"Sunfyre has been killed by Princess Rhaenys and Prince Dragonzel. Its body is outside Rook's Rest, with broken wings and its head crushed by Vermithor." Rhaenyra laughed: "Vhagar has fled in disarray, Alicent. You have only two choices: either surrender."

She spread her arms: "Or be burned to death. Come, choose one."
