Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Zi Han returned to her seat.

The students who were by the window began to disperse and return to their seats; the drama was over after all. The classroom soon became filled with whispers.

Zi Han lowered her head and opened her textbook, but she could not focus. Her fingers were trembling.

She had not imagined it. In that brief moment at the window, when Ming Ye's gaze swept upward, their eyes had met. He had seen her watching him.

Take a deep breath, Zi Han. It is nothing. Our eyes just met, that's all.

She tried to calm herself down.

Zi Han exhaled slowly and forced her breathing to steady. Once she had calmed down, she picked up her pen. In addition to her previous plan, she was going to include another one.

Totally avoid Ming Ye!!!

In the novel, Ming Ye was a villain who would clash with the male lead again and again, and his methods were often violent and ruthless, causing the male lead to suffer many losses. But even before the plot had begun, he was already like this; violent, arrogant, and protected by his elite background.

This violent nature was something she did not want to experience. She had always been one to avoid trouble, and even now she would do the same.

At lunchtime, Zi Han avoided the cafeteria entirely and went to the small café near an old classroom instead. It was quieter there, which would enable her to gather her thoughts better. As she ate a piece of cookie, she mentally reorganized her plans.

Original plan:

-Graduate with good grades

-Study abroad

-Build a career

-Never return

The original Zi Han's grades were good. She had been the best at Shangde Public Middle School, so she got a scholarship into Mingde High School. She had basically been a scholarship student before her mother married Ming Chen a year ago. Currently, she was ranked second in her class, the first being the class representative.

Her grades were enough to enter a top university if she performed well during the college entrance exams.

This was good.

There were still four months left before the exams. After that would come university applications. If she aimed for a university overseas, she would need recommendation letters and proof of funds. Ming Chen could afford it. Whether he was willing to was another matter.

But even if he wasn't, she would apply for scholarships, and hopefully she would be granted one.

This plan seemed perfect enough, Zi Han thought to herself. However, there seemed to be a variable.

She frowned slightly. In the novel, Zi Han was an insignificant background character at first, a character who barely appeared until she fell in love with the male lead. She tormented the female lead for a short while, until Ming Ye broke her limbs and sent her overseas.

Zi Han shuddered. She definitely did not want her limbs to be broken.

She preferred to be irrelevant, and she had to make sure she remained irrelevant to the plot.

Zi Han began scribbling in her notebook.

Risk Avoidance Protocol:

-Do not draw attention

-Do not interfere with plot characters

-Do not get involved in conflicts

-Do not provoke any of the main characters under any circumstance

Especially Ming Ye.

Zi Han looked at her notes and nodded her head in satisfaction.

If she followed her Risk Avoidance Protocol, she would be able to sail through this world just fine.

Zi Han soon finished eating. She wiped her hands and stood, packing her notebook away.

At that moment, a group of students entered the café, laughing loudly. At their center was a familiar tall figure, his hands in his pockets. It was Ming Ye.

Zi Han's face scrunched up into a small frown.

If not because she knew Ming Ye hated her, she would have suspected that he was stalking her.

She had deliberately avoided the cafeteria to avoid him, and yet she still met him here.

Why?! Was the universe against her?!

Zi Han lowered her head and walked past them quietly.

Ming Ye's dark eyes followed her figure for a brief moment, and at that instant, Zi Han felt her stomach knot and a chill creep up her spine.

The blond-haired boy who had been with him on the field earlier slung his arm across Ming Ye's shoulders. "Hey… do you know her?"

Ming Ye looked away indifferently.

"Don't know," he said lightly.

"Wellllll…" the blond boy stretched out the word playfully. "She is from Class A. I heard she is really smart, which is understandable since she is a scholarship student." The boy paused and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I think I'm going to ask her to be my tutor. She is quite cute… If someone as cute as her taught me, I don't think I'm going to fail. Don't you think, Ming-ge?"

A slight sneer appeared on Ming Ye's lips. "Such a nuisance."

Not only was she a nuisance at home, she was also becoming a nuisance at school.

Tsk.
