Chapter 16 - "Sports Day"

One morning, our teacher entered the classroom with the gentle smile on his face. The room slowly to became quiet because everyone felt that he had something important to say. He placed his books on the table and looked around the class for a moment.

"Next week will be Sports Day", he announced.

As soon as we heard those coords, the whole classroom suddenly became full of excitement. Many students started talking loudly with their friends. Some students began guessing which games they would join. Other were already dreaming about winning medals and trophies.

Purmodo leaned back in his chair and smiled happily.

"Finally, something fun", he said.

Aarihito slowly closed his book and looked toward the teacher.

"I hope our team wins. " he said calmly. From that day, the mood of the school changed. During the next few days, everyone stayed after school to practice. The playground was always full of running and preparing for different events.

Some students practiced running around the track again and again. They tried to improve their speed everyday. Others practiced relary races, basketball, long jump, and other games. Teachers stood many nearby, watchig the students and giving helpful advice.

Our class also practiced together. Sometimes we felt tired after running for a long time, but we still continued. Everyone wanted to perform well on sports day.

Purmodo was one of the fastest runners in our class. Everyon aftermoon, he practiced the relay seriously. When he ran, his steps quickly and strong. Many students belived he would win the race for our class.

Aarihito wasn't very interested in sports, but he still helped the team. He organized the practice times and encouraged everyone to keep trying.

"You shouldn't give up", he said.

"Winning isn't the only important thing. Doing your best is also important."

His words gave us motivation.

Days passed quickly, and soon the big day arrived.

Sports Day finally came.

That morning, the sky was bright and clear. The air felt fresh and cool. When we reached school, we saw colorful flags hanging all around the playground. The school looked very lively and beautiful.

Students from every class gathered on the big field. Everyone wore their sports uniforms. Some students looked nervous, while other looked confident and ready.

Teachers were busy preparing the events. Some teachers chacked the running tracks. Others arranged the Equipment and organized the teams.

A few teachers held clipbcards to write down the results.

Soon, the first race began.

Several students stood at the starting line. They bent slightly forward and waited for the signal.

The teacher raised whistle.

"Ready.... set....go!"

The whistle blew, and the students started as fast as they could. Their feet moved quickly across the ground.

Around the field, students shouted loudly to cheer for their friends.

"Run faster!"

"You can do it!"

The whole playground was full of energy and excitement.

After a few events, it was time for the relay race.

Purmodo was one of the runners for our class. He stood near the track, waiting for the baton from his teammate our entire class watched him carefully.

When the baton finally reached him, he grabbed it quickly and started running.

His legs moved very fast. His arms swung strongly as he ran forward. The wind blew against his face, but he didn't slow down.

"Go, Purmodo! Run!"

Purmodo focused only on the finish line He didn't look back. In only a few seconds, he crossed the finish line first.

Our whole team jumped with joy.

"We won! we won!" someone shouted.

Everyone clapped and cheered for him. Purmodo was breathing heavily, but he looked very happy and proud.

Lader, it was my turn to join the running race.

As I walked toward the starting line, my heart began beading very fast. I felt both excited and nervous at the same time.

Many students stood beside me, ready to run. some stretched their legs while waiting.

The teacher blew the whistle again.

"Ready.... set... go!"

We all started running at the same moment. I ran as faster as I could. My legs felt heavy, but I continued moving forward.

I could hear students shouting and cheering from the side of the field. Their voice gave me courage.

I kept running until I finally crossed the finish line.

When I stopped, I was very tired and breathing hard. My chest moved up and down quickly.

At the moment, Ritou walked toward me with a bottle of water in her hand.

"You did well," she said with a warm smile.

"Thanks", I replied while trying to catch my breath.

I drank some water, and soon I began to feel better.

The day continued with many other games and competitions. Some students basketball. Others joined tug-of-war and long jump. Every corner of the field was full of laughter and cheering.

Teachers also looked happy as they watched the students enjoying themselves.

Many students took photos with their friends. Some students rested under the free while waiting for their next events.

It was one of the happiest and mast exciting days of the whole school year.

By the evening, the final results were ready. All the students gathered near the stage to hear the announcements.

A teacher stepped forward with a microphone.

"Now we'll announce the results", he said.

Everyone waited quietly.

"3-2 has won second place."

For a moment, there was silence. Then everyonie started clapping loudly.

Even though we didn't win first place, we still felt proud of our effort we congratulated each other and shared our happiness.

As the sun slowly began to set, the sky turned orange, and peaceful cool evening wind moved gently across the playground.

Many students sat on the grass and talked about the events of the day. Some laughed while remembering funny moments from the races.

We stayed there for a while, enjoying the calm evening together.

Sports Day finally came to the end, but the memories of that day stayed in our hearts.
