Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The First Trial of Humanity

The golden plains of Proxima-B looked peaceful from the surface.

But deep beneath that shining soil… something ancient had begun to wake.

Inside the temporary human base, the atmosphere was tense.

Multiple holographic screens floated in the air as scientists monitored the strange signal detected underground.

Zara stared at the glowing scanner with intense focus.

The signal was getting stronger.

Every minute.

Aryan walked into the control room, still wearing his exploration suit.

"What's the update?" he asked.

Zara didn't look away from the screen.

"It's definitely artificial."

Aryan crossed his arms.

"So we're not the first intelligent beings here."

"Not exactly," Zara replied quietly.

She enlarged the holographic map of the underground structure.

The projection expanded above the table.

What appeared shocked everyone in the room.

An enormous city.

Miles wide.

Perfectly structured.

Gigantic metallic towers connected by symmetrical roads and chambers.

It looked like a machine… and a city at the same time.

Aryan leaned closer to the hologram.

"How old do you think it is?"

Zara hesitated before answering.

"Older than recorded human history."

The room fell silent.

If that was true… then someone — or something — had built a civilization here thousands of years before humans ever reached the stars.

The Descent:

Six hours later, the exploration team prepared for their first descent mission.

A massive drilling platform had been placed directly above the signal source.

Heavy machines roared as they slowly penetrated the golden ground of Proxima-B.

Inside the drilling chamber, Aryan checked his equipment.

"Communication check," he said.

"Clear," Zara replied through the headset.

"Life support stable," another crew member added.

The drill finally stopped.

A deep hollow space had been reached.

Aryan looked at Zara.

"Looks like we found the entrance."

Metal stairs slowly descended into darkness.

Aryan switched on his helmet light.

"Let's see what's been waiting for us down there."

One by one, the team moved into the underground tunnel.

The deeper they went, the colder the air became.

Then suddenly—

The tunnel opened into something enormous.

Everyone froze.

Before them stood a massive metallic gate.

The structure was unlike anything humans had ever seen.

Smooth silver metal covered the walls.

Strange glowing symbols ran across the surface like flowing energy.

Zara slowly approached the gate.

Her mechanical decoding glove activated automatically.

Soft blue light scanned the ancient symbols.

"It's a language," she whispered.

"Can you read it?" Aryan asked.

"Not exactly… but it's reacting to our presence."

Suddenly the symbols began to glow brighter.

A low mechanical vibration echoed through the chamber.

Then—

The giant gate slowly began to open.

The Forgotten City:

The door revealed a massive underground world.

Lights slowly turned on across the ancient city.

Thousands of blue energy lines illuminated the structures.

The exploration team stared in awe.

It was a city.

An entire civilization buried beneath the planet.

Massive towers stretched high into the cavern ceiling.

Metallic bridges connected different structures.

Strange floating machines hovered silently in the air.

Aryan whispered quietly.

"This place shouldn't exist."

Zara scanned the surroundings.

"Energy readings are still active."

"How is that possible?" another explorer asked.

"This place could be thousands of years old."

Zara looked at the glowing energy lines.

"Whatever powered this city… it's still alive."

Suddenly a deep vibration shook the ground.

The lights across the city flickered.

Then the entire place seemed to awaken.

Machines began activating one by one.

Mechanical sounds echoed through the empty streets.

Aryan looked around cautiously.

"I don't think we woke it up…"

Zara slowly turned toward the central tower of the city.

"I think it woke up when we arrived."

The Watcher Awakens:

Deep inside the central structure of the ancient city…

A chamber filled with silent machines slowly activated.

Dust that had rested for centuries drifted through the air.

A single blue light turned on.

Then another.

And another.

In the center of the chamber stood a tall figure.

Still.

Silent.

Waiting.

Slowly… the figure moved.

Elder Kai opened his eyes.

A soft silver glow filled the room.

For thousands of years he had remained in stasis.

Guarding the ancient city.

Watching the stars above.

Waiting for the return of travelers.

Now… the wait was over.

Kai walked toward a transparent wall that displayed the surface of the planet.

Through the projection he saw them.

Humans.

Exploring the city.

Touching the machines.

Searching for answers.

Kai whispered quietly to himself.

"So… humanity finally reached the stars."

Behind him, thousands of ancient systems began reactivating.

Scanning.

Analyzing.

Learning.

The city was studying its new visitors.

And deciding what to do with them.

A Warning:

Back inside the city streets, the human team continued exploring.

Suddenly Zara's scanner started flashing rapidly.

"Something's wrong."

Aryan looked at her.

"What happened?"

"The system here… it's analyzing us."

"How?"

"Biometric scans… neural scans… everything."

Suddenly a giant holographic symbol appeared in the sky above the city.

A deep mechanical voice echoed through the cavern.

The language was unfamiliar.

But somehow… their translation devices slowly decoded the message.

The voice spoke.

"Unauthorized species detected."

The team froze.

Then the voice continued.

"Identity: Human."

Aryan whispered slowly.

"It knows who we are."

The voice spoke again.

"Purpose of arrival: Unknown."

The entire city seemed to vibrate with power.

Then the final message appeared.

"Evaluation process initiated."

Zara looked terrified.

"Aryan…"

"What?"

"I think the city is judging us."

Suddenly the ground beneath them began to move.

Massive mechanical structures started shifting around them.

Bridges rearranged.

Walls opened.

Hidden machines emerged from the shadows.

The city was no longer silent.

It was alive.

And humanity had just triggered something far bigger than they understood.

The Beginning of the Test:

High above the city, inside the central tower…

Elder Kai watched everything silently.

He knew the ancient system had begun its evaluation.

The same test that every intelligent species had faced before.

Some had passed.

Many had failed.

Kai looked at the humans exploring the city.

Curious.

Brave.

But unprepared.

He spoke quietly to the ancient system.

"Begin observation phase."

The lights of the city intensified.

Machines activated across thousands of chambers.

The ancient civilization of Proxima-B had awakened.

And humanity had just entered its first trial.

Far above the surface of the planet, the purple sky glowed softly.

The golden forests shifted colors again.

Almost as if the planet itself was reacting to the events below.

Because deep under the surface…

The fate of humanity had already begun to be decided.
