He just scoffed and turned to the window.
"Your efforts are wasted on a man like me. Tempt my brother instead."
She bit her lower lip.
The playful air that had been encouraging her vanished.
They would have to see about that.
Eve fell silent after that.
Then after a while, she decided to break the silence.
"Are you going to attend the ball or will you choose to hide out in your room?"
His eyes remain closed, but she knew he wasn't sleeping.
"I don't see why that concerns you." He said after a very long pause.
Everetta nearly gave up all hope of him answering.
"I only asked because you are meticulously planning the party…"
"It's the least a useless son like me can do, is it not? Why would I feel entitled because of a single task?"
She blinked.
Was he baiting her or did he really think that he was useless?
She did remember how his father never hesitated to remind him of his 'state with snide remarks every now and then.
