Chapter 7 - Chapter 6

Chapter 6: The Glass Empire and the Navigator's TearsThe Going Merry sliced through the choppy waters of the Conomi Islands like a silver-violet ghost. To any observer on the shore, we were just a small caravel, but to the sea itself, we were a vibrating anomaly. Thanks to the Vibranium Concept I had infused into her molecular structure, the Merry didn't just hit the waves; she absorbed their kinetic energy, storing the rhythmic pulse of the ocean in her hull. The faster we went, the more stable she became, her sheep figurehead's blue gem eyes glowing with a faint, predatory light.I stood at the prow, my white hair catching the unfiltered radiation of the midday sun. My circular sunglasses were dark, but the Rikugan-like clarity of my vision saw through the horizon, tracing the jagged, arrogant mana of Arlong Park.Beside me, Luffy was uncharacteristically quiet. He sat on the railing, his straw hat pulled low, his eyes fixed on the distant island where Nami had fled. Behind us, Zoro was leaned against the mast, his chest heavily bandaged from Mihawk's slash, but his hand was firm on his sword. Usopp was checking his slingshot, his usual cowardice replaced by a grim, protective silence."She's crying," I said, my voice a low, resonant hum."How do you know?" Luffy asked, not looking up."I can hear the frequency of her heart, Luffy," I replied. "It's out of tune. It sounds like a bird trapped in a cage of rusted iron. Eight years of salt and betrayal. She thinks she's alone.""She's not," Luffy growled, his fist tightening."I know," I said. I knelt and pressed my palm against the deck. "Merry, give us everything you've stored."The ship let out a deep, violet vibration. The kinetic energy we had absorbed from the waves and the impact of Mihawk's shockwave earlier flowed into the sails. The Merry lunged forward, doubling her speed in a millisecond, a wake of purple foam trailing behind us.We arrived at Cocoyasi Village to find a scene of absolute despair. The Marines, led by the corrupt Captain Nezumi, were currently digging up Nami's orange grove, confiscating the 100 million berries she had spent eight years stealing, lying, and bleeding for."Ninety-three million... ninety-four..." Nezumi snickered, his rat-like face twitching with greed. "Hard luck, thief-girl. This money is now 'evidence' of your crimes. Your contract with Arlong is your own business."Nami stood in the center of the grove, her orange hair matted with dirt. She looked at the empty holes in the ground—the graves of her hope. She looked at the villagers, who were ready to die for her, and she realized that all her sacrifice had been for nothing."Arlong..." she whispered, her voice breaking. "He lied to me from the start."I stepped off the Merry before she even touched the dock. I didn't walk; I used a Space-Fold, appearing in the center of the orange grove between Nami and the Marines. My black jujutsu-style suit was spotless, a sharp contrast to the mud and misery of the village."Who are you?!" Nezumi shrieked, pointing his sword at me. "This is Marine business! Interfere and you'll be executed!"I didn't answer him. I looked at Nami. She looked up at me, her eyes red-rimmed and hollow. "Silver... why are you here? I told you to stay away. I'm not your navigator! I'm a member of the Arlong Pirates!""You're a bad liar, Nami," I said, my voice as calm as the eye of a hurricane. "And you have a smudge of dirt on your forehead."I reached out and gently wiped the dust from her brow. She flinched, then suddenly, the dam broke. She grabbed the sleeve of my jacket, her fingers digging into the fabric."He took it... he took everything..." she sobbed, her forehead pressing against my chest. "Eight years... Bellemere... everything is gone...""It's not gone," I said. I looked at Nezumi. My sunglasses slid down an inch, revealing the cold, celestial blue of the Six Eyes."Concept: The Weight of Guilt."I didn't touch Nezumi. I simply looked at him.In an instant, the gravity around the Marine Captain and his men multiplied by a hundred. They were slammed into the mud, their bones groaning under the weight of their own corruption. Nezumi tried to scream, but the air was crushed from his lungs. The 100 million berries—the bags of gold and treasure—lifted into the air, caught in a silver vortex."Luffy! Zoro! Usopp!" I shouted. The three of them appeared at the edge of the grove. Luffy looked at Nami, who was still clutching my jacket. He took off his straw hat and placed it firmly on her head."HELP ME..." Nami whispered."OF COURSE I WILL!" Luffy roared, his voice shaking the trees."Zoro, Usopp, take the Marines to the boat," I said, my gaze fixed on the towering pagoda of Arlong Park in the distance. "I'm going to go talk to the fish."Arlong Park was a monument to shark-man arrogance. A massive pool, a high-rise tower, and hundreds of fishmen feasting on the misery of the islands. Arlong sat on his throne, his serrated saw-blade nose gleaming in the sun."Hah! The girl is late with the money!" Arlong laughed. "Maybe I'll kill another villager to remind her of the deadline—"The massive steel gates of Arlong Park didn't just open; they evaporated.I walked into the courtyard, my hands in my pockets. Behind me, the Going Merry hovered just offshore, her hull vibrating with stored kinetic energy."So, you're the one," I said, looking at Arlong. "The shark who thinks he's an apex predator because he can bully a village of farmers.""A human?" Arlong sneered, standing up. He was a mountain of blue muscle and teeth. "You dare enter my empire?! I am a Fishman! I am ten times stronger than any human! My teeth can crush diamonds!""Your teeth are calcium, Arlong," I said. "And I am the sun."I removed my sunglasses, tucking them into my pocket. My white hair began to glow with a faint, silver radiance as I drew deep from the solar energy above."You like the water, don't you?" I asked. "You think it's your shield? Your home?"I raised my hand, pointing a single finger at the massive pool in the center of the park.[Primordial Art: Heat Vision—Molecular Agitation.]Two beams of concentrated, solar-blue fire erupted from my eyes. I didn't fire them at Arlong. I fired them into the water. In a millisecond, the entire pool began to boil. But I didn't stop there. I increased the intensity, the temperature rising to levels that defied the laws of physics. The water didn't just turn to steam; the minerals within the water, the sand at the bottom of the pool, and the stone walls of the park began to melt and fuse.Fisssssss.The sound was deafening. A blinding white light filled the park. When the glow faded, the entire central area of Arlong Park—the pool, the courtyard, the foundations—had been turned into a single, solid sheet of molten glass. The fishmen who had been in the water were gone, vaporized instantly. Arlong stood on a small island of stone, surrounded by a sea of glowing, white-hot glass. He was shaking, the heat blistering his blue skin."What... what are you?!" Arlong shrieked, his saw-blade sword melting in his hand."I'm the concept of your extinction," I said.I moved. I didn't use speed; I used a Kinetic Discharge. I tapped into the energy the Merry had stored from the ocean. I appeared in front of Arlong and delivered a single, open-palmed strike to his chest.[Sacred Art: Rebound Impact—Vibranium Pulse.]The kinetic energy of a thousand waves, stored and amplified by my thought-creation, hit Arlong all at once. He didn't just fly back. His internal organs, his bones, and his very cells were hit by a vibration that shattered them. He was launched through the main tower of Arlong Park, the building collapsing into the glass floor like a house of cards.Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp arrived just in time to see the tower fall. Luffy looked at the glass floor, then at me. "Silver! That was awesome! But I wanted to kick his butt!""The boss is still alive, Luffy," I said, pointing to the rubble. "He's just... fragile. He's all yours."Luffy grinned, cracking his knuckles. He jumped into the ruins, and for the next ten minutes, the sounds of Gomu Gomu no Battle Axe echoed through the air as Luffy literally brought the rest of the empire down on Arlong's head.As the sun began to set, the Conomi Islands were free. The villagers of Cocoyasi stood at the edge of the glass floor, staring in silence at the man with white hair who had turned a nightmare into a field of shimmering crystals.Nami walked up to me. She was wearing the straw hat, her face clean of tears. She looked at the glass, then at the Silver Ring on my finger."You turned the park into glass," she whispered. "Why?""Because glass is beautiful, but it's easily broken," I said. "Just like Arlong's lies. And now, the sun can shine through to the bottom of the ocean."I reached into the air and pulled out a small, leather-bound book."Concept: The Eternal Chart."I handed it to her. "It's a map that updates itself based on your intent. You still have to draw the world, Nami. But this will make sure you never lose your way again."Nami took the book, her fingers trembling. She looked at Luffy, who was cheering with the villagers, then at Zoro and Usopp, and finally back at me."Silver," she said, her voice small. "I don't have the 100 million berries anymore. Nezumi took it... and even though you got it back, it belongs to the village.""I told you before, Nami," I smiled, the blue of my eyes softening. "Your dream isn't for sale. You're our navigator. That's worth more than all the gold in the East Blue.""I... I suppose I have no choice then," Nami huffed, wiping a stray tear. "But I'm still in charge of the money! And don't think this means I like you!""Of course not," I laughed. "You just like my gold bars."
