Chapter 1 - Blue Eye

Prologue – The Girl With the Blue Eye

The rain had been falling over the old town of Ravenshade for hours.

Streetlights flickered through the mist, casting pale yellow halos onto the empty pavement. The town was quiet—too quiet. Only the whisper of wind through crooked trees and the distant rumble of thunder broke the silence.

A girl ran through the narrow alleyways.

Her breath came in ragged gasps as her boots splashed through puddles. She clutched something small and metallic in her hand—a silver pendant shaped like an eye.

Her eye.

One blue eye.

One brown.

The blue one glowed faintly in the dark.

Behind her, footsteps echoed.

Slow.

Patient.

Hunting.

She turned a corner sharply and pressed herself against a brick wall. Her heart pounded so loudly she feared the entire town could hear it.

The footsteps stopped.

For a moment, there was silence.

Then a voice.

Low.

Cold.

"You can't run forever, Aria."

Aria Vale squeezed the pendant tighter.

"No," she whispered. "But I can hide."

Lightning tore across the sky.

For a split second, the alley lit up.

And the man hunting her saw the glow of her blue eye.

He smiled.

Because that eye…

…was worth killing for.

Chapter 1 – The Photographer

The train screeched into Ravenshade Station at exactly 6:14 PM.

Liam Carter stepped onto the platform with his camera bag slung over one shoulder. Cold wind brushed past him, carrying the smell of wet leaves and distant rain.

He adjusted his jacket and looked around.

Ravenshade looked exactly like the kind of town people forgot.

Old buildings.

Dim lights.

Too many secrets hiding behind too many windows.

Perfect for photography.

And maybe perfect for forgetting his past.

Liam was a travel photographer. At least, that's what he told people.

The truth was simpler.

He ran.

From cities.

From memories.

From people.

And now he had ended up here.

Ravenshade.

He walked down the empty platform and pulled out his camera.

Click.

He photographed the rusted station sign.

Click.

The fog curling along the tracks.

Click.

A figure standing at the end of the platform.

Liam lowered the camera.

The girl stood perfectly still beneath a broken streetlamp.

Dark hair.

Pale skin.

A long black coat.

And one strange detail.

Her left eye glowed faintly blue.

Not bright.

Just enough to catch the light.

Liam frowned.

Maybe it was a trick of the lighting.

The girl suddenly looked straight at him.

Their eyes met.

For a moment, time stopped.

Then she turned and walked away into the fog.

Liam didn't know why…

…but he followed.

Chapter 2 – The Girl With the Blue Eye

Aria knew someone was following her.

She could feel it.

The quiet footsteps.

Not heavy.

Not threatening.

Curious.

She turned down a narrow street lined with closed shops.

Rain began to fall.

Perfect.

Rain blurred footsteps.

Aria stopped beneath an awning and turned slowly.

The man caught up a moment later.

He was tall.

Late twenties maybe.

Messy dark hair.

Camera bag.

He looked more confused than dangerous.

"Sorry," he said quickly. "I didn't mean to follow you."

Aria studied him carefully.

His heartbeat was steady.

His eyes honest.

Not a hunter.

Not one of them.

"Then why did you?" she asked.

Liam scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Your eye."

She froze.

Of course.

Everyone noticed it eventually.

"My eye?" she said carefully.

"The blue one," he said. "It looked like it was glowing."

Aria almost laughed.

"Just a reflection," she replied.

But Liam shook his head.

"No."

His voice was quiet now.

"It wasn't."

For a moment neither of them spoke.

Rain tapped softly against the metal roof above them.

Then Liam held out his hand.

"I'm Liam."

Aria hesitated.

She hadn't trusted anyone in years.

Trust got people killed.

But something about him felt different.

She slowly shook his hand.

"Aria."

The moment their hands touched—

Her blue eye flashed.

Bright.

Blinding.

And Liam saw something impossible.

A memory.

A dark forest.

Blood on snow.

A silver pendant shaped like an eye.

And Aria standing over a body.

Liam jerked his hand away.

"What the—"

Aria's face had gone pale.

"You saw it," she whispered.

"...Saw what?"

Her blue eye glowed again.

Brighter this time.

And somewhere in the darkness of Ravenshade…

Someone else felt it awaken.

Chapter 3 – The Vision

Liam stumbled backward, nearly slipping on the rain-soaked pavement.

"What… what was that?" he demanded, his voice trembling.

Aria stepped away from him, her expression filled with panic.

"I told you," she said quietly. "You shouldn't have followed me."

The blue glow in her left eye slowly faded until it looked almost normal again.

But Liam couldn't forget what he had just seen.

The forest.

The blood.

The body.

And Aria standing over it.

"That was a memory," he said slowly. "Wasn't it?"

Aria didn't answer.

She turned to leave.

Liam grabbed her wrist.

"Wait."

Her body tensed instantly.

"You shouldn't touch me," she warned.

"Why?" Liam asked.

"Because," she whispered, "the more you touch me… the more you'll see."

A cold chill ran through Liam's spine.

"See what?"

Aria finally looked him in the eyes.

"My past."

Thunder rolled across the sky.

Liam hesitated for a long moment.

Then he said something that surprised even himself.

"I'm not afraid."

Aria gave a bitter smile.

"You should be."

Before Liam could respond, a black car slowly turned onto the street.

Its headlights swept across them.

Aria's expression changed instantly.

Fear.

Real fear.

"They found me," she whispered.

"Who?" Liam asked.

"Run."

But it was already too late.

The car stopped.

Two men stepped out.

Tall.

Dressed in black coats.

Watching Aria like predators.

One of them spoke calmly.

"Miss Vale."

Aria's hand moved instinctively toward the silver pendant around her neck.

"You shouldn't have come here," she said.

The man smiled.

"You belong to us."

Chapter 4 – The Hunters

Liam's heart pounded.

"Okay," he muttered. "What exactly is happening right now?"

Neither Aria nor the men answered him.

One of the men stepped forward slowly.

"Aria Vale," he said calmly. "You've been avoiding us for three years."

Aria's jaw tightened.

"And I plan to keep avoiding you."

The second man chuckled.

"You misunderstand," he said. "This isn't a request."

Liam stepped slightly in front of Aria.

"Hey," he said. "Maybe you guys should leave."

The two men looked at him as if noticing him for the first time.

"And who are you?" the first man asked.

"Just someone who doesn't like creepy guys threatening women."

For a moment there was silence.

Then the second man laughed.

"Brave," he said. "But stupid."

He reached into his coat.

Aria grabbed Liam's arm.

"Run," she whispered again.

But Liam stood his ground.

The man pulled out a small metallic device.

Not a gun.

Something stranger.

A needle filled with glowing blue liquid.

Liam frowned.

"What the hell is that?"

Aria's voice shook.

"A tranquilizer."

"Okay that's not—"

"For me."

Liam froze.

The man raised the device.

"You know the procedure, Aria."

Her blue eye began to glow again.

Stronger.

More intense.

The streetlights flickered.

Wind whipped through the empty street.

The men's expressions darkened.

"Don't do that," one of them warned.

Aria whispered something under her breath.

The pendant in her hand shimmered.

And suddenly—

The man holding the tranquilizer screamed.

He dropped to his knees, clutching his head.

"What did you do?" Liam shouted.

Aria grabbed his hand.

"Now we run."

Chapter 5 – The Escape

They ran through narrow streets and dark alleyways.

Rain poured harder now, soaking their clothes.

Liam struggled to keep up.

"Aria!" he gasped. "Slow down!"

"We can't!"

Behind them, car doors slammed.

Footsteps followed.

"They're coming!" Liam shouted.

"I know!"

They turned another corner.

Aria suddenly stopped.

Dead end.

A tall brick wall blocked their path.

Liam groaned.

"Great."

Footsteps approached from the alley entrance.

The men appeared again.

This time there were three of them.

One of them held the glowing tranquilizer again.

"You're making this difficult," he said calmly.

Aria stepped in front of Liam.

"Stay behind me."

"Wait," Liam said. "I'm not hiding behind you."

"You will if you want to live."

The men began walking closer.

"Enough games," the first one said.

Aria's blue eye flared like a star.

Suddenly Liam felt something strange.

Like invisible electricity in the air.

The world seemed to distort.

Aria grabbed his hand again.

"Hold on."

"What are you—"

The ground beneath them shimmered.

The air twisted.

And suddenly—

They weren't in the alley anymore.

They stood in the middle of a forest.

Liam stared in shock.

"What… what just happened?"

Aria collapsed to her knees.

Teleportation had drained her strength.

"I moved us," she whispered.

Liam looked around.

Dark trees.

Cold wind.

Snow on the ground.

"Wait," he said slowly.

"This is the place I saw in the vision."

Aria looked up sharply.

"What?"

"The forest," Liam said. "From your memory."

Her face went pale.

"That's impossible."

But deep down…

She knew it wasn't.
