The road to the Diamond Kingdom was nothing like the one leading to the Royal Capital. There were no cheers or celebration, only biting winds and a harsh, frozen landscape.
The Diamond Kingdom stood like a massive fortress of ice, its towering walls resembling a prison more than a nation. It felt as if they were built not to keep enemies out, but to contain something beneath the ground.
"So damn cold! Is this how they greet people here?" Asta complained, shivering as the wind cut straight through his clothes.
"Quit whining," Cedric said as he walked ahead, completely unaffected.
In fact, he sensed something far more troubling than the cold.
A familiar presence lingered in the air.
Dark, heavy, and suffocating.
Yin Chakra.
Cedric stopped walking.
Closing his eyes, he expanded his Sage Mode perception.
Beneath the surface, the ground was no longer solid in his vision. It churned like a black ocean, constantly shifting and pressing upward, as if something below was trying to break free.
Noelle stepped closer, her voice quieter than usual.
"Cedric, what is it?"
"We're late," Cedric said as he opened his eyes, his gaze sharp, "Whatever's happening here has already started."
The ground suddenly shook violently.
"What the hell? An earthquake?" Luck shouted as he braced himself.
Cracks split open across the frozen earth.
From those cracks, thick black liquid surged upward.
The moment it touched the air, it hardened and took shape.
Monsters.
Featureless, dripping, and holding black spears, their bodies pulsing with cursed energy.
Asta drew his swords immediately.
"These things again? More shadow monsters?"
Cedric shook his head.
"Not the same. These are pure Yin Chakra constructs. They're worse."
He quickly formed hand seals.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique."
A massive fireball surged forward, infused with life energy. It slammed into the monsters, forcing them back with a violent reaction.
"Use attacks with life force," Cedric called out, "Asta, target the core inside them with your Anti-Magic."
"Got it!"
Asta stepped forward and crossed his swords.
"Anti-Magic: Devour!"
A powerful pull erupted, dragging the black energy out of the monsters and into his blades.
"It's working!" Noelle said as she raised her hand, her magic surging, "Water Magic: Sea Dragon's Roar!"
A massive water dragon crashed into the enemies, scattering them and giving Asta more room to absorb their cores.
But the ground kept breaking.
More and more monsters emerged, quickly surrounding them.
"There's too many!" Luck shouted as he smashed several apart, only for more to replace them instantly.
Cedric remained calm.
"If they won't stop coming, then we end this in one move."
He pressed his palms together.
The ground trembled.
"Sage Art: True Several Thousand Hands."
A massive wooden statue rose behind him, towering into the sky with countless arms spread wide.
Even from the distant walls of the Diamond Kingdom, soldiers stared in shock.
"What is that thing?"
Before anyone could react, the statue moved.
Thousands of massive fists slammed down at once.
The impact shook the land.
Every monster in the area was crushed instantly.
When the dust settled, nothing remained.
Only a massive crater.
"That's insane..." Asta muttered.
Cedric looked down into the pit, his expression serious.
"That was just the beginning."
"What do you mean?" Asta asked.
Cedric pointed downward.
At the bottom of the crater was not rock, but darkness.
A deep void that seemed to swallow light itself.
Far below, a massive red magic circle faintly glowed.
Noelle's voice trembled slightly.
"What is that?"
"The entrance," Cedric replied, "To the Underground Sanctuary."
A black crow suddenly flew up from the depths and landed on Cedric's shoulder.
Its eyes were pitch black.
"A storm is waiting below," it rasped, "Those who seek the truth should follow."
Then it took flight again, diving back into the darkness.
Cedric watched it go, then stepped forward.
"Let's move."
Asta grinned, excitement returning instantly.
"Now this is what I'm talking about!"
One by one, the Black Bulls followed.
Without hesitation, they descended into the darkness.
A new battle awaited them below.
