"So, we're here to audit a history class?"
Banner whispered.
"I wish I'd brought a notebook. Honestly, I'm quite interested in cuneiform."
Leon looked at them and smiled slightly.
Look at them, so engrossed.
One was immersed in the joy of teaching, while the other was experiencing the troubles of human adolescence.
They seemed to have truly forgotten who they were, forgotten their predetermined destinies.
More importantly, they seemed to have forgotten him.
Everything looked fine.
Unfortunately, it was time for it to end.
And he was the one to end it.
As soon as the students dispersed, Dane immediately went up to her, holding a cup of coffee.
"Sersi, you taught really well." A smile appeared on Dane's face.
"I was thinking, tonight perhaps we could..."
Sersi smiled as she took the coffee, a flicker of hesitation in her eyes.
She had feelings for Dane, but her long life and past experiences made her wary of easily accepting love again.
Crystal, standing nearby, rolled her eyes dramatically and let out a scoff.
It was always like this; for thousands of years, she had seen Sersi's comings and goings with humans too many times.
Every beginning was sweet, every end left only sadness.
How boring.
She would rather watch a several-hour Bollywood movie.
Just then, a gentle voice sounded behind them.
It was familiar, and also like a devil's whisper.
"Thousands of years later, you've certainly learned to enjoy life. Sersi, Crystal."
The voice held no hostility; it was calm.
However, upon hearing this voice, Sersi and Crystal froze.
Sersi frowned; she didn't understand why Leon would come looking for them.
Crystal put her hands behind her back, secretly channeling energy.
It was this guy again!
After all this time, did he still want to fight them?
Dane was startled by the sudden change, and he protectively held Sersi.
"Sersi? What's wrong? And who is this gentleman?"
He turned his head to look at Leon and Banner, who had appeared behind them at some point.
Banner tried to make himself look less like a kidnapped scholar, and he nodded amicably at Dane.
But he was puzzled. Judging by the expressions of these two ladies, had Leon done something utterly outrageous in the past?
Did he steal their lollipops or demolish their temple?
Their reaction was like seeing a boss who had just crawled out of hell.
Leon's smile remained unchanged, his expression calm.
Sersi's thoughts began to drift.
It was thousands of years ago, on a similarly warm and sunny afternoon.
The ten Eternals had teamed up to challenge this guy.
Simply because he said their mission was meaningless.
The result... Ikaris's cosmic energy was extinguished like a candle flame before him.
Makkari's superspeed was as slow as a crawling turtle in his eyes.
The weapons Tina conjured couldn't even leave a mark on his armor.
And even though she and Crystal could transform matter and create illusions respectively, they were still no match for his Sun god power, which could incinerate everything.
Leon hadn't even truly made a move; he had merely released his divine pressure.
The ten of them were pinned to the ground, unable to move.
Finally, he stood before them, just as he was now, with a gentle smile on his face, and spoke words that they remembered for thousands of years.
"A group of tools with blinded eyes, enjoy your false mission. Next time we meet, I hope you can bring me a surprise."
Then, he turned and left.
From that day on, no one ever mentioned Leon's name again.
Leon Odinson.
The Sun god of Asgard.
This was a true God, just like their leader.
"It seems you haven't forgotten me." Leon's smile was meaningful.
"That's good. It saves me the trouble of introducing myself."
"Why are you here?" Sersi asked with a frown.
"I came to remind you of something." Leon's gaze swept over her and Crystal, who was too scared to speak beside her.
"Your game of playing human here, it's time for it to end."
Dane was a bit confused by what he heard.
Seeing the man who appeared out of nowhere, and the Goddess whose expression was as ugly as if she'd remembered an ex.
Dane's mind was a mess.
What 'thousands of years later'? What 'game of playing mortal'? What was going on?
"Don't be nervous, little girl." Leon's gaze fell on Crystal.
"Just because you don't want to grow up doesn't mean others want to keep playing house with you forever."
At this moment, this sentence no longer sounded like simple mockery.
Crystal's face turned ugly, but she didn't dare utter a word of rebuttal.
Just then, a sudden change occurred!
"Roar!!!"
A roar came from outside the museum!
Boom!!!
The hall's walls and French windows were shattered by a brutal force!
Debris and glass shards flew everywhere, and tourists screamed in terror, scattering and fleeing.
A huge and hideous monster rushed in!
Its body was covered in muscle-fiber-like tentacles, it moved on all fours, had a pair of ragged wings on its back, and its eyes glowed with bloodthirsty red light.
It was a Deviants!
Banner's brow immediately furrowed.
"Alright, this thing looks like the ugly child of a facehugger from 'Alien' and a monster from 'The Thing'."
Dane was completely terrified; he was just an ordinary person and had never seen anything like this, so he instinctively shielded Sersi behind him.
Sersi and Crystal's expressions also became solemn.
A Deviants!
Weren't they supposed to have been eliminated by them hundreds of years ago?
Why were they here?!
The monster's gaze swept through the chaotic crowd, finally locking onto Sersi and Crystal.
It could sense the cosmic energy it craved within them.
"Roar!"
The Deviants roared, its hind legs pushed off forcefully, and its massive body lunged towards Dane and Sersi, who were closest to it!
"Watch out!"
Sersi exclaimed, no longer caring about hiding her identity.
She forcefully pushed Dane away and extended her right hand to touch a nearby overturned display cart.
Buzz!
Invisible energy instantly enveloped the cart.
The next second, the cart rapidly melted and deformed, then transformed into numerous tentacles that wrapped around the Deviants.
Crystal also acted simultaneously; she waved her hands, and an illusion identical to her appeared on the other side, attempting to distract the Deviants.
However, this Deviants was far more powerful than any they had encountered in the past!
It ignored Crystal's illusion, violently shook off its tentacles, instantly breaking all the wrapping tentacles!
Then, it continued its charge towards Sersi without slowing down!
Sersi quickly thought of a countermeasure.
She could transform matter, but she wasn't good at direct combat!
Tsk tsk.
Leon chuckled softly, then turned to Bruce beside him.
"Dr., it seems we've run into a little trouble."
Banner's mouth twitched.
"A little trouble? This guy can throw trucks around like toys. I think our definition of 'little' might be a bit off."
"Don't be modest, Dr." There was more playfulness in Leon's smile.
"I think Hulk might really want to come out and play."
