Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Ever since becoming a hunter Wincent was always a light sleeper. Because being a hunter you would rarely but sometimes would sleep outside. That was what his teacher taught him.

So the fact that what he thought was a safe place to rest but still woke up to a growling, at first it didn't make that much sense to him. The other hunter would definitely would've woken him up if a monster got in.

But when he woke up he didn't see that hunter anywhere at all not even blood on the ground. No he only seen are the two monsters already inside the cave.

Not thinking about the why right now he grabbed his great sword and hid behind the moss covered boulder to try and hide somewhat or at least try to make it harder for the monsters to get to him.

Finally in hiding he dares to take a better look at the two of them.

One small wolf-like Fanged Wyvern a Lunagaron. It's a monster that can use ice to attack.

The other much larger, it's scales black with a purple tint to it. At first glance he didn't know what that monster was.

He didn't see anything like it in the books he read over the years. But there was only one crude drawing that kinda resembles it inside the notebook his teacher gave him before.

It was a drawing of a Gore magala, the drawing was a little crude but the resemblance is there. But there was only one thing that he couldn't understand.

Written under the drawing was it's description. Everything matched other than that fact that this ones eyes are open. But not just that but the book had a description of it's temper.

It describes it as a monster with higher intelligence than other monsters. But with the frenzied nature that would kill anything around itself.

But this one seemed to calm for that description. Since it didn't charge at the other monster immediately. But Wincent couldn't think about this any longer.

Right now he was inside a cave with two monsters one of them more dangerous than the other. He needed to leave, and fast.

Thankfully he had all of his gear nearby, after making sure he had everything he looked around the cave for an exit that didn't involve getting near the monsters.

He was confident in himself that he could fight other monsters with relatable ease but not the Gore magala. He knows too little about it and this one is far different from what he does know.

Leaving is the only option. While looking his eyes landed on an opening in the cave wall. It wasn't that big where the monster could follow him in only big enough for him to squeeze into.

Hoping that it wasn't just a hole leading to nowhere he glanced back at the monsters still having a stand off and bolted to it. Getting inside he saw that it was longer than he initially thought at first.

Thinking that maybe he at least could hide inside if it's not leading anywhere. While walking and making sure he don't hit his head on the ceiling he heard the monster roaring from behind him.

They started the fight. But after the roaring he only heard a sickening crunch and a quiet thud but nothing after that. The fight ended just as quick as it started.

Wincent had to force his legs to move and not buckle at the thought that if he didn't move when he did than maybe he wouldn't have gotten away and be the next one killed.

Whith cold sweat on his back he moved further into the crevas going further away. After a few agonisingly slow minutes he finally saw some light at the end.

After picking up the pace he finally reached it. It was the exit. But before going out he decided to give a rest for his legs. Sliding down the wall of the cave he finally breath a sigh of relief.

Looking down on his legs he saw them shaking not much but it was noticeable. The fact that he was so close in proximity to the Gore magala and the fact that he probably just escaped with his life did took a toll on him.

Deciding that only getting out from there when he can actually walk normally was the best idea, he closed his eyes to rest until then.

Inside the forest his friends were looking for him everywhere. The only good thing was that they asked where he was going to go before he left.

So that place being the bottom of the mountain was the first place they need to look for him first. But unluckily it was to big of a area to search.

But Peet was with them and with his help they found Wincents tracks. Following it it led them up the mountain.

"Mroww" (There's a nother person as well.)

Having Peet say that all of them got confused. Why was a nother person near the mountain, is it another hunter? That they didn't know.

Putting that aside they main prioriti is founding their friend. And since Peet said that his trail was going up the mountain that's the way they needed to go.

The only reason they managed to get here so fast was partly because most of the monsters are sleeping at night. And they just needed to avoid their nests.

While they were climbing they saw a nother person going down. Before any of them could ask who it was Peet ran happily towards the person. That's when they recognised the armour, it was Wincent.

All of them were happy that nothing bad has happened to him. But they didn't question him about why he looked so scared.

They decided that those questions could wait until they are in a safer place than a mountain slope. While heading down they saw the sun peaking out at the horizon.

And since all of them were pretty tired they changed their direction towards a small hunter campsite to rest. Even if they were to try to go back to the outpost they were to tired.

Fighting monsters while you can't keep your eyes open wasn't the best idea.

While going down Wincent thought back about how lucky he was that the Gore magala haven't saw him.

But contrary to what Wincent thought it was the exact opposite. Because he was seen by it.
