The First Morning
For the first time in days...
Aurion Citadel woke without alarms.
No bombardment.
No enemy formations.
No crimson projectiles crossing the sky.
No evacuation orders.
No desperate cries from the walls.
Only sunlight.
The first rays of morning passed over the ruined city.
They touched broken towers.
Shattered gates.
Burned siege engines.
Collapsed districts.
Then the Restoration Pulse moved through the Citadel.
THOOM.
The ruins began to change.
Stone lifted.
Bronze reconnected.
Broken towers slowly rose.
The city began rebuilding itself.
But this time...
the people were not fighting while it happened.
They were watching.
The Celebration Continues
The central plaza had become a festival.
Food was being prepared everywhere.
Nordfrost warriors shared stories beside open fires.
Sunscorched Reveland warriors demonstrated the speed of their mechanical-cyborg crawlers to fascinated children.
The Ironhide Clan repaired damaged weapons while telling stories of battles from their youth.
The Iron Legion had turned one of its massive siege machines into a temporary cooking platform.
The Veilkeepers stood at the edge of the celebration.
Some were visible.
Some were not.
The Hunters of the Serpent Wastes watched from the rooftops.
No one knew exactly when they had joined the celebration.
They were simply there.
The Heroes of the Battle
One by one, the people of Aurion Citadel gathered around the heroes.
Dorion was surrounded by young soldiers asking about the Guardian's Shield.
Lirion was surrounded by engineers who wanted to know how he had connected the entire city to the defense network.
Sorion stood quietly near the Heart's access chamber.
Citizens approached him.
They did not ask about his powers.
They simply thanked him.
He remembered every face.
The First Defender
The First Defender stood in the Founder Plaza.
The people had built a temporary platform around it.
Children stared upward.
Elders bowed.
Warriors placed their weapons before it.
The ancient guardian looked uncomfortable.
"I am not a king."
An Ironhide elder laughed.
"Good."
"We have enough kings."
The First Defender looked toward the city.
For the first time in a thousand years...
it did not stand alone.
AZRAK-9
The remains of AZRAK-9 had been secured outside the city.
The colossal machine lay motionless across the battlefield.
The allied commanders gathered around it.
Some wanted to destroy every remaining component.
Others wanted to study it.
Lirion approached the broken core.
"There is still energy inside."
Dorion looked at him.
"Can it be dangerous?"
"Almost certainly."
Sorion studied the machine.
"But it may also contain the history of the Omnission Protocol."
Thomarion looked toward the remains.
"Then we don't destroy it."
He turned toward Lirion.
"We learn from it."
The Heart of Orinthal
Deep beneath the Citadel, the Heart remained active.
Sorion stood before it.
The millions of memories inside the ancient sphere were calm now.
The voices were no longer screaming.
The Heart had survived.
But something had changed.
A new section of the chamber had opened.
An ancient symbol appeared on the floor.
Lirion studied it.
"I've never seen this symbol in the Orinthal records."
Sorion looked at it.
"Neither have I."
Dorion raised his shield.
"Then we should probably find out what it means."
The three brothers stood before the symbol.
Above them...
the city celebrated.
Below them...
the ancient civilization of Orinthal had just revealed another secret.
Bardin's New Problem
Bardin finally finished his victory song.
The plaza erupted in applause.
He stood proudly.
Then his frog exo-suit collapsed.
The extra percussion arms fell limp.
His violin made one final broken sound.
Bardin stared at the instrument.
The crowd went silent.
Bardin sighed.
"That was my favorite violin."
A young Ironhide smith stepped forward.
"I can repair it."
A Sunscorched engineer raised a hand.
"I can improve the mechanical arms."
An Iron Legion technician shouted:
"I can add artillery!"
Bardin immediately pointed at him.
"No artillery."
The entire plaza erupted in laughter.
The war was over.
For the first time in days...
people laughed without fear.
The Cost of Victory
Not every district could be repaired immediately.
Some buildings were gone forever.
Some names had been carved into memorial walls.
The city had won.
But victory had a price.
The people of Aurion Citadel remembered those who had fallen.
The Nordfrost placed weapons beneath a memorial stone.
The Sunscorched warriors lit desert lamps.
The Ironhide Clan raised their hammers.
The Veilkeepers stood in silence.
The Hunters of the Serpent Wastes placed a single arrow before the names.
The Iron Legion fired one ceremonial cannon into the morning sky.
Bardin played a quiet melody.
No words.
Only remembrance.
The World Reunites
For generations, the nations had fought separate battles.
Now they stood together in Aurion Citadel.
The victory feast became something more important.
A council.
Nordfrost leaders sat beside Sunscorched commanders.
Ironhide elders spoke with Iron Legion engineers.
Veilkeeper representatives sat beside the Hunters of the Serpent Wastes.
For the first time...
the world had a reason to cooperate.
Not because of fear.
Because they had fought together.
And survived together.
The Heirs
That evening, Thomarion stood with his sons upon the restored wall.
Aurion Citadel glowed beneath them.
The Heart pulsed.
THOOM.
Dorion looked at the city.
"It will take years to rebuild."
Lirion smiled.
"I've already calculated the first twelve thousand problems."
Sorion looked toward the stars.
"And the ones we haven't discovered yet?"
Thomarion looked at his sons.
"Those are the ones that become legends."
Below them, Bardin's music began again.
The city laughed.
The warriors celebrated.
The fires burned.
The stars remained.
For one night...
there was peace.
Final Scene
Far beyond the mountains...
the darkness of Oblivion had retreated.
It had not been defeated.
It had not been destroyed.
But it had witnessed something it had not expected.
A civilization that had nearly been erased...
had united.
And the memory of that victory would spread.
From city to city.
From kingdom to kingdom.
From generation to generation.
The darkness could wait.
For now...
Aurion Citadel lived.
