Chapter 1 -  In Teyvat — Obtaining a Super Cheat?

"Ahhhhhhh—!"

Above the storm-shrouded sea of Inazuma, space was suddenly torn apart. From a pitch-black rift, a screaming figure tumbled out.

Akira Shindo stared in horror as he plummeted downward from several thousand meters in the air, falling at full free-fall speed. Even though the surface below was the ocean, he was still terrified.

Falling from several thousand meters—even if it was into water—how was that any different from smashing straight into concrete?

Speaking of which, his situation was truly unfair.

Akira Shindo was just an ordinary male college student who had finished one year of university. Summer vacation had just started, and like the typical lazy college student of the modern era, he had gone home.

He had just climbed out of bed and was about to launch Genshin Impact.

The game had just reached the gate of Celestia on the loading screen when he got hit by a runaway car.

Yes. You heard that right.

Akira Shindo had been at home—on the second floor, no less—when a crazy female driver lost control of her car and somehow sent the vehicle barreling straight into him.

One moment his vision went black.

The next moment, he was in free fall from several thousand meters in the sky.

"My life is over!" Akira Shindo stopped screaming, despair filling his voice.

He had never imagined such a ridiculous disaster could happen to him. Getting hit by a car while staying at home? Among transmigrators, he might be the most bizarre one ever.

A transmigrator who dies immediately upon arrival.

Ding.

Detected that the host is currently in free fall. Unlocking the Omnipotent Template Cheat.

A voice suddenly rang out in Akira Shindo's mind, instantly filling him with joy.

As expected—he had a cheat!

Detected that the host is currently located on the continent of Teyvat. Loading full Teyvat world data. Recording all native lifeform templates.

Detected that the host is currently in a high-level crisis. Omnipotent Template Cheat activated. Unlocking S-Rank Template: Herrscher of the Void (Honkai Impact 3rd).

Forcefully linking host to the Imaginary Space. Loading the Herrscher of the Void ability manual outline.

The moment the system finished speaking, a complete analysis of the Herrscher of the Void's abilities flooded Akira Shindo's mind. In an instant, he fully adapted to the power.

The next second, golden light flashed.

Akira Shindo vanished from midair and reappeared on land not far above sea level.

"…Holy shit."

Akira Shindo steadied his breathing, trying to calm the emotional roller coaster he had just experienced. Honestly, he was impressed that he could accept so many shocking events in such a short time.

After all, college students specialized in one thing:

Going with the flow.

"Wait… I'm in Teyvat?"

Recalling the system's earlier announcement, Akira Shindo quickly looked around.

His expression immediately collapsed.

A sky wrapped in violent thunderstorms, an oppressive atmosphere, and wandering samurai and Kairagi visible here and there.

Wasn't this the purest form of beginner hell—

Inazuma?

And not just any Inazuma—this looked like the Inazuma where the Vision Hunt Decree and Sakoku Decree were still in effect.

Sure, in the game the locked-down Inazuma only felt a bit gloomy.

But anyone with half a brain could imagine what it was really like.

At a time like this, even if corpses weren't literally littering the streets, the people were certainly living in misery.

Especially someone like him—a complete undocumented outsider.

In a place like Inazuma, he'd probably be devoured whole without even leaving bones behind.

Finding a random rock to sit on, Akira Shindo began questioning his cheat.

"System, you there?"

"Yes, Master," the system replied in a cool, emotionless voice.

"Give me an introduction. What functions do you have?" Akira Shindo asked.

After all, it had just granted him the Herrscher of the Void's power. Surely it couldn't be some low-tier system.

"Answering the Master: this system's full name is the Omnipotent Template Cheat. It contains, but is not limited to, the abilities and items of all characters from every world known to you."

"All templates and items from the myriad worlds can potentially be obtained by you."

"Hmm… so will there be super difficult missions?" Akira Shindo asked.

"Not at all," the system replied.

"All skill and item unlocks are purely random. Any event that happens around you may unlock a template or item."

"This system does not have the authority to issue mission commands. You possess absolute freedom."

"Of course, template unlocking depends on luck and cannot be specified in advance. Please understand," the system added apologetically.

"Oh~ so what you mean is that neither you nor I can choose specific items," Akira Shindo said while stroking his chin.

"Things I do or experience in life will randomly trigger template or skill unlocks, right?"

This system was pretty chill.

But random?

With his terrible luck, what if he never unlocked another template for the rest of his life?

Still…

With the Herrscher of the Void's power, he should be able to walk sideways across Teyvat now, right?

"Master, please refrain from becoming overly arrogant for the moment," the system quickly warned.

"Although you have obtained the Herrscher of the Void template, it is currently only an S-Rank template. At best, your strength is comparable to an ordinary god native to Teyvat."

"Your current power is still inferior to top-tier gods such as the Raiden Shogun. Please be mindful of your actions to avoid being beaten—or risking your life."

"???"

Akira Shindo froze.

"But the power level of a Herrscher should be far above that of gods, right? And you're telling me the Herrscher of the Void template can't beat the Electro Archon?"

"You have only obtained the S-Rank template," the system explained.

"When you unlock the SS-Rank template, the Herrscher of the Void alone will allow you to easily defeat Teyvat's top gods."

"If you unlock the SSS-Rank complete Herrscher of the Void template, you will surpass even the Primordial One and truly dominate all of Teyvat."

"I see."

Akira Shindo immediately suppressed the slight arrogance that had begun to swell in his chest.

Heh. His greatest strength as a person was that he listened to advice.

Definitely not cowardice.

There were plenty of powerful gods in Teyvat.

Just the ones he knew of included the Geo Archon Morax and the Electro Archon Baal.

And then there was that slacker Anemo Archon who spent all day loafing around and pretending to be weak.

Who knew how strong that "Ehe" guy actually was?

Mondstadt's giant baby mentality basically revolved around the phrase "May the Anemo Archon protect you."

With that level of faith, you're telling him Barbatos had no power?

Akira Shindo certainly didn't believe it.

"But System," Akira Shindo suddenly said, "you can't just give me the template without the weapon, right? What kind of Herrscher of the Void is that?"

"I'm not asking for much. Just give me Domain of the Void: Eternal Calamity."

"..."

The system seemed to fall silent.

It truly didn't understand how its master could be this shameless.

Detected the host's extremely high interest in the Herrscher of the Void's weapon. Since the host currently lacks a suitable weapon, unlocking item: Key of the Void.

"Key of the Void? That works too."

Looking at the pair of uniquely shaped pistols that appeared in his hands, Akira Shindo smacked his lips.

Not bad.

At least it was the signature weapon before its upgrade limit break.

After all, the Herrscher of the Void with the Key of the Void and without it were completely different.

Grrr…

Just as Akira Shindo was pondering how to make a name for himself in Inazuma, a wave of hunger suddenly struck him.

"So hungry…"

He spotted a nearby Sunsettia berry bush and instantly teleported over. He had long wanted to know what berries in Teyvat actually tasted like.

The berries were large—exactly like in the game.

Each branch held only three fruits, but that was more than enough to fill an adult's stomach.
