Chapter 110 - Alone With the Devil

Alone With the Devil

The noise faded.

Slowly.

Screams turned into whispers.

Whispers into silence.

Until there was nothing left…

Except the aftermath.

The wedding hall was almost empty now.

Blood cleaned.

Body taken.

Evidence erased like it had never happened.

Because that was Damian's world—

Nothing stayed…

Unless he allowed it.

Elara stood alone in a quiet room, the white of her dress untouched—

But everything else about her…

Changed.

Her hands were cold.

Her thoughts louder than ever.

Her heart still trying to catch up with what she had just seen.

The Devil.

Not a name.

Not a rumor.

A reality.

The door opened.

Slow.

Deliberate.

She didn't turn.

She didn't need to.

She already knew who it was.

Damian stepped inside.

The door closed behind him with a soft click that echoed louder than it should have.

Because now—

There was no one else.

No distractions.

No witnesses.

Just them.

For a moment…

Neither of them spoke.

Elara finally turned.

Slowly.

Her eyes met his—

And for the first time…

There was something different in them.

Not weakness.

Not surrender.

But fear.

Real fear.

"You killed him."

Her voice was quiet.

Controlled.

But it carried everything she was feeling.

Damian didn't deny it.

Didn't soften it.

Didn't explain.

"Yes."

One word.

Simple.

Unapologetic.

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Tight.

Elara took a slow breath.

"You didn't hesitate."

A statement.

Not a question.

Damian's gaze didn't waver.

"No."

That answer…

It settled deep.

Because hesitation meant doubt.

And he had none.

Elara looked at him differently now.

Not as a man she could outthink easily.

Not as someone she could just challenge and walk away from.

But as something…

Far more dangerous.

"You're exactly what they say you are," she whispered.

The words weren't accusing.

They weren't shocked anymore.

They were… accepting.

Damian stepped closer.

Not fast.

Not aggressive.

But enough to close the distance between them.

"And what do they say?" he asked quietly.

Elara didn't step back this time.

Even though every instinct told her to.

"That you don't feel anything."

A pause.

"That you destroy people… and move on like it's nothing."

Their eyes locked.

Unmoving.

Unbreaking.

Damian studied her.

Longer this time.

Deeper.

Then—

"You're still here," he said.

Not answering.

Redirecting.

Elara's jaw tightened slightly.

"I made a deal."

A pause.

"I keep my word."

Something about that—

It held weight.

Because in his world…

That mattered.

Damian stepped even closer now.

Close enough that the space between them felt charged.

Dangerous.

Unavoidable.

"You're afraid of me," he said calmly.

Not mocking.

Not soft.

Just truth.

Elara didn't deny it.

Didn't pretend.

Because after what she saw—

That would be a lie.

"Yes."

The word came out steady.

Honest.

A pause.

Then—

"But I'm still here."

That changed everything.

Because fear usually made people run.

Break.

Disappear.

But she didn't.

She stayed.

And that…

That interested him.

Damian reached out slowly—

His fingers brushing lightly against her chin, lifting it just enough so she had no choice but to look directly at him.

Her breath hitched slightly—

But she didn't pull away.

"Good," he said quietly.

A pause.

"Fear keeps you alive."

Elara's eyes hardened slightly.

"And what keeps me from becoming like you?"

The question hung between them.

Sharp.

Dangerous.

For the first time—

A faint, almost invisible smile touched Damian's lips.

"That's the interesting part," he said softly.

A pause.

"You don't."

Silence.

Deep.

Unsettling.

Because in that moment—

Elara realized something terrifying.

This wasn't just about surviving him anymore.

It was about not losing herself…

While standing this close to the Devil.

Damian stepped back slightly, giving her space again.

But the tension didn't leave.

It stayed.

Heavy.

Lingering.

"Get some rest," he said calmly.

Like everything that had happened…

Was just another day.

He turned to leave.

But just before he reached the door—

He stopped.

Without looking back, he spoke.

"You chose to stand beside me."

A pause.

Then—

"Now you'll learn what that really means."

The door closed.

And Elara stood there alone.

Still.

Silent.

Uncertain.

Because deep down…

She knew.

This wasn't the end of her fear.

It was only the beginning.
