Chapter 137 - The Call That Changes Everything

The Call That Changes Everything

Silence filled the warehouse.

Heavy.

Deadly.

Damian's gun remained aimed at Victor.

Steady.

Unshaking.

One pull—

And it would all end.

But then—

The phone kept ringing.

Loud.

Persistent.

Victor smiled.

Not wide.

But enough.

"Answer it."

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

And that alone…

Was wrong.

Damian didn't trust easily.

But he trusted his instincts.

And right now—

They were warning him.

Something wasn't right.

Slowly—

Without lowering the gun—

He reached forward.

Pulled the phone from Victor's pocket.

And answered.

"Speak."

A shaky voice came through.

"…Boss…"

Lucas.

That alone made Damian's chest tighten.

"They breached the outer gate," Lucas said quickly.

"They're trying to get in—"

A loud crash echoed through the line.

Gunfire.

Voices shouting.

"Elara—"

The line cut.

Something inside Damian snapped.

Not anger.

Not rage.

Something colder.

Something final.

Victor laughed.

Low.

"You really thought I'd come alone?"

Damian's head tilted slightly.

His eyes no longer human.

"You used yourself as bait," Damian said quietly.

Victor smirked.

"And you took it."

A pause.

"Right where I wanted you."

For a second—

The world felt still.

Like time paused.

Because now…

Everything was clear.

This was never about winning here.

It was about pulling Damian away.

From the only place that mattered.

The mansion.

Elara.

Their child.

Damian lowered the phone slowly.

But his gun didn't move.

Victor watched him carefully now.

Because this reaction—

This silence—

It wasn't normal.

"Go," Victor said suddenly.

Mocking.

"Run back to her."

A pause.

"If you're not too late."

That was it.

The final mistake.

A shot rang out.

Loud.

Sharp.

Victor's body jerked slightly.

His eyes widened.

Shock flashing across his face.

He looked down slowly.

Blood spreading.

Then back at Damian.

"…You…"

Damian stepped closer.

His voice low.

Deadly calm.

"You should have stayed away from my family."

Victor stumbled slightly.

But then—

He laughed.

Even as he bled.

"You're too late…"

A pause.

"They're already inside."

Damian didn't respond.

Didn't waste another second.

He turned.

And walked out.

Fast.

Because for the first time—

The Devil wasn't chasing revenge.

He was racing against time.

Back at the mansion—

Chaos.

Gunfire.

Broken walls.

Shattered glass.

Lucas moved through the hallway, taking down intruders one by one.

But there were too many.

And then—

A door burst open.

Elara stood frozen.

Her breathing uneven.

Fear written all over her face.

A man stepped inside slowly.

Gun raised.

A cruel smile forming.

"Well…"

His voice low.

"Found you."

Elara stepped back instinctively.

Her hand moving protectively to her stomach.

"No…" she whispered.

The man raised his gun.

Finger tightening on the trigger.

And far away—

Damian sped through the streets.

His grip tight on the wheel.

His eyes burning.

Because he felt it.

Something was wrong.

Very wrong.

And this time—

If he was late—

He wouldn't just lose a battle.

He would lose everything.
