"Black Mist, go!"
Viego's target was not the powerful, nor was it the occupation of any city.
He was only a spoiled prince from a thousand years ago, searching for his beloved across a vast stretch of scorched earth.
Salo was almost about to cry. That lunatic Caleb had killed someone right in front of him before.
The moment that false body drew its blade, Salo had almost been scared into shock, but in the end, that clear, bright blade had not swung toward him.
Yet now another lunatic had appeared, wearing a crown glowing with ghostly green light, and was coldly kicking open the door to his family vault.
Still, Salo did manage to understand one thing from all of this, no amount of money was more important than his life.
So Salo simply curled up in his bedroom and loudly ordered the soldiers he had hired to protect him and his family.
Viego picked up an exquisite piece of fabric from the vault.
Even after so many years, he still remembered that this was Isolde's work.
A faint fragment of soul emerged from it, little by little, then melted into the music box in Viego's hand.
On top of the music box was the figure of a man and a woman dancing, while petal-like pieces slowly opened all around them.
The fragment of soul merged into the cluster of souls above the music box. In this ruined world, it instead gave off a feeling of purity and flawlessness.
"I'll be taking this."
Viego's words were not a request. As a king accustomed to luxury and arrogance, he had never been used to asking anyone's opinion.
As for Salo, he had not listened to a single word the man said. He was merely hiding in his room, trembling.
"That Sentinel of Light? She seems to carry Isolde's aura as well."
"I'll take the objects first."
In Viego's eyes, whether that person lived or died did not matter much to him.
What mattered was that if the objects were accidentally damaged during the battle between the Black Mist and the people...
That would truly make Viego collapse.
So the current priority was to search for Isolde's soul fragments scattered across the world. Most of them were attached to objects she had touched while she was alive.
As for the woman protected by Isolde's blessing?
Viego only wished he could kill her with his own hands.
However, according to Thresh's account, she did not seem that weak either.
...
"Vengeance!"
Viego turned around and looked back. Kalista, his former general, was staring at him with eyes full of fury.
She remembered. She remembered many things.
All the years she had spent muddled and lost as an undead on the Shadow Isles suddenly became vivid before her eyes.
Unlike Hecarim, who had been the one to act, this monarch who had ignored both nation and army made her feel even greater hatred.
"Your vengeance will never be fulfilled. Never!"
"I will take, and take, and take again! Until nothing remains in this world but her!"
The Black Mist drilled into Kalista's mind. As a being who lived on the Shadow Isles, Kalista's body was even more easily eroded by the Black Mist.
"No! You are the one who will die!"
Kalista gripped the spear on her back. Behind her, a figure appeared, wielding a greatsword.
"Ledros, will you defy your king's command as well?"
Viego's voice was very cold, causing Kalista, in the middle of her pain, to turn back.
But in that instant, a hook shot out without stopping and caught around her waist.
Ledros raised his greatsword, wanting to cut the chain.
Yet a mark suddenly appeared beneath his feet.
Amid the howls of corpses and wails of ghosts, beneath the Black Mist filling the sky, Viego looked at the two of them with complete indifference.
"Ledros, I heard Thresh speak of your devotion."
When Viego reached this point, his voice actually choked slightly.
"And Isolde is already gone, leaving me alone to wander."
"If you leave now, I will not require your loyalty."
"I will be reunited with her!"
Ledros had also died thousands of times on the Shadow Isles, all to awaken Kalista, who had been swallowed by vengeance.
And now, he stood beside Kalista without taking a single step back.
"If it means betraying her true vengeance, then I would rather never find my beloved again!"
Ledros had once been a top-class swordsman. He believed that if the two of them joined forces, they would at least have the power to fight.
"Very well. To defy my will, this is your fate."
But a wall glowing green rose around them. They had both forgotten that behind this king stood an army of thousands.
"Sing, Karthus! Sing for all things destined to fade! Sing for her destined return!"
"Feel the fragility of life!"
Gray pillars of light shone down above the two of them. This meant that Karthus of the Shadow Isles had now joined the battle as well.
Under the cover of the Black Mist, Viego's figure moved at high speed, charging straight into Zaun with tremendous speed.
"What the hell?"
When Caleb heard the news from the upper city, he almost could not believe it.
"Then again, if champions can die, the champions who can be corrupted during the Ruination event wouldn't be limited to only the ones who got skins."
"Sarah has probably taken control of Bilgewater by now. After the Twin Cities, the next targets should be Noxus and Shurima."
"Then Mount Targon, the Freljord, and Demacia."
Caleb's thoughts moved quickly, and he immediately considered the Black Mist's speed of expansion.
"But unlike in the cinematic, it doesn't seem to be coming from every direction. Instead, all of it is rushing out from the Shadow Isles."
Although he said that, Caleb also knew that if this mess was not resolved quickly, he did not know what would happen to the rest of the world, but the Twin Cities might be thrown back three hundred years.
"Cast yourselves into the Black Mist!"
A figure fell from the upper city. Without the slightest hesitation, he charged straight in one direction.
"Where is he going?"
Caleb's thoughts moved quickly, and he immediately confirmed that the figure was not heading toward the shelter where the elderly, women, and children had gone, but toward...
The area near The Last Drop?
Caleb remembered that Jinx was fighting over there.
"I'm leaving for a moment!"
Caleb only said that much, leaving the scene to Kai'Sa and the cat.
"These things really are troublesome..."
The monsters in the Black Mist were not immortal and undying like they had been last time.
In essence, immortality did not follow science, nor did it follow the magic Caleb had learned.
Even when using Rune Magic, it was only using runes as a pathway to draw out the "energy" that existed everywhere in the world.
And the Black Mist itself was an extremely vast mass of energy. Under Viego's leadership, its purpose had changed from resurrecting the undead to corroding others.
Although its defensive power had weakened somewhat, with all the reserves the Shadow Isles had accumulated over so many years pouring out at once, there was no need to consider reviving the undead at all.
Now that there were targets who could truly die, the undead became even more excited.
And after dying, those undead could turn into Black Mist, becoming power that corroded the living.
For the mortal world, unless they had Sentinel weapons capable of completely destroying the Black Mist, other weapons could solve the immediate trouble, but in the long run, the more living beings Viego corrupted, the harder the battles afterward would become.
"Bring it on!"
Caleb heard the sound of hooves behind him. He did not need to think to know that it was the sound of Hecarim chasing after him.
As he drew closer and closer to The Last Drop, Caleb could not help roaring.
"Everyone, get out of the way!"
