Chapter 21 - Between Silence and Effort

The door closed softly behind him.

Armaan stood outside for a moment—

then signaled a servant.

"Make sure she's okay… help her if she needs anything."

The servant nodded quietly.

Inside the room—

Zoya hadn't moved.

Only her tears had.

That night passed—

in silence.

The next morning—

the house felt unfamiliar.

Too quiet.

Too distant.

Zoya came out slowly.

Everything looked perfect.

But nothing felt right.

Armaan had already left for the office.

Work—

was the only place where he could escape himself.

But even there—

peace didn't stay.

The loss hit him hard.

The project—

gone.

Months of effort—

destroyed in a moment.

His jaw tightened.

Stress built inside him.

But he didn't stop.

Instead—

he made a decision.

"If it's gone… I'll build something better."

New ideas.

New plans.

New energy.

He threw himself into work.

But no matter how busy he stayed—

his thoughts returned to her.

Zoya.

Back at home—

days passed quietly.

Armaan tried.

Small things.

Simple efforts.

One evening—

he cooked dinner himself.

Carefully.

Nervously.

Zoya barely reacted.

Another day—

he tried watching something she used to like.

She sat—

but her eyes stayed distant.

Sometimes—

he did the most random, silly things.

Just to see her smile.

But nothing worked.

Not even a little.

And still—

he didn't stop trying.

Because for the first time—

he wasn't trying to impress her.

He was trying to earn her back.

Then—

one day—

everything shifted again.

Armaan was at the office.

Focused.

Working.

When suddenly—

a thought crossed his mind.

That warning.

"She has to die."

His expression changed.

He immediately checked the security feed.

And froze.

Someone—

had entered the house.

A stranger.

His heartbeat spiked.

Without wasting a second—

he called the police.

And rushed out.

At the house—

Zoya was unaware.

Lost in her thoughts.

Only two servants around.

The danger—

was closer than she knew.

But before anything could happen—

the police arrived.

And moments later—

Armaan too.

The man was caught.

Everything happened quickly.

Too quickly.

Zoya stood there—

shocked.

Not fully understanding—

how close she had been to losing everything again.

Armaan looked at her—

fear still visible in his eyes.

But he didn't say anything.

Because sometimes—

fear speaks louder in silence.

The next day—

the house felt different.

Not empty—

but… aware.

Soon—

their parents arrived.

His father.

Her mother.

Warm smiles.

Concerned eyes.

They looked at both of them—

standing together.

But something was missing.

The connection.

It felt fragile.

Like a thread—

that could break anytime.

Later—

they spoke to Zoya.

Gently.

Patiently.

"Beta," her mother said softly,

"not every decision in life feels right immediately…"

His father added—

"But some people… deserve a second chance."

Zoya listened.

Silent.

But this time—

not closed.

Something shifted.

Not fully.

But slightly.

The anger softened—

just a little.

The pain remained.

But the hatred—

began to fade.

Days passed.

Two days later—

Zoya made a decision.

"I want to join the hospital again."

For the first time—

Armaan smiled.

A real one.

"Good," he said softly.

He didn't ask anything more.

Because this—

was progress.

Slow.

Small.

But real.

And as days went on—

Zoya changed.

Not completely.

But enough—

to take a step forward.

And sometimes—

that's all healing needs.
