Chapter 53 - ''Crystals,Sisters and the Name Of Strength''{53}

**Chapter 53: Crystals, Sisters, and the Name of Strength**

The blood sky had been hanging over the world for thirty-six hours.

It still refused to rain.

**Guardians of Destiny Headquarters – Training Wing**

Steve Nikolaidis wiped sweat from his forehead and watched Kent Nagy (or whatever the hell his real name was) shatter another reinforced training dummy with a single punch. The impact left a crater in the reinforced floor.

Steve leaned on his knees, breathing hard. "Okay. New personal rule. Never spar with you when you're in a mood."

Kent rolled his shoulders. The bronze light of his power still flickered faintly around his fists. "You're getting faster."

"I'm getting bruises." Steve straightened. "Hey… I've known you for six years. Six. And only now I'm finding out 'Kent' isn't even your full first name?"

Kent went still for a second. Then he sighed like a man who had been putting this off for exactly six years.

"Ent is my middle name."

Steve stared. "What?"

"My full name is Kent Ent Nagy."

Steve's face did something complicated. "My friend is new for six years. Your real name is *what* then?"

Kent met his eyes, completely serious.

"Hercules. Kent Hercules Ent Nagy. Hercules means strength. My mother had a sense of humor and terrible timing."

Steve blinked once. Twice. Then he started laughing so hard he had to sit down on the cracked floor.

"You're telling me I've been calling the human embodiment of a wrecking ball 'Kent' this whole time when his government name is *Hercules*?"

Kent's mouth twitched. "Keep laughing and I'll demonstrate the strength part again."

From the doorway, Peter Shotstock's voice drifted in, dry as dust. "Please do. I need new material for the group chat."

**Roof of Headquarters – Bane's Workshop**

Bane Mugabe was nineteen now, and it showed in the way he moved: less reckless, more precise. Three holographic screens floated in front of him, each displaying a different orbital feed. The new satellites — *Watcher-1*, *Watcher-2*, and *Watcher-3* — had gone live at dawn.

Tiny green dots blinked across the global map. Every confirmed supernatural signature on the planet was being tracked in real time.

Loki leaned against the railing, watching. "Three satellites. You built three entire orbital platforms in under a year."

Bane didn't look up. "I had help. And a lot of stolen corporate funding. Don't ask."

Ofentse stood a little too close to Loki, as usual. Their shoulders almost touched. Neither moved away.

"Bloodnort's signature just spiked," Bane said. "Eastern Europe. Moving fast."

**Willowbrook High – Abandoned East Wing Roof**

Hikoru sat cross-legged under the red sky, six fox tails of living fire flickering behind her in uneven rhythm. She was still learning control. Some days the fire listened. Some days it tried to set the school on fire out of pure kitsune spite.

A soft *thud* landed behind her.

She turned, flames rising instinctively — then stopped.

A tall, broad-shouldered man in a security uniform stood there like he had grown out of the concrete. Pale, sharp-featured, with a thick Eastern European accent when he spoke.

"Easy, little fox. I am not here to fight."

Hikoru kept the flames ready. "Who are you?"

"Mieczysław Piezyrc. Security. Formerly of Kraków. Now of wherever the strange things gather." He tapped the badge on his chest. "I guard thresholds. Doors between the normal and the not-normal. There is a name for what I am."

Hikoru's ears (the fox ones) twitched. "What name?"

"The Guardsman. Creatures like me are born or made to watch the edges of supernatural places. Ley lines. Old gates. Schools that have seen too much blood." He looked at her tails with something like respect. "You are still young in your power. The fire listens to emotion more than command. That is normal. It will learn manners. Eventually."

Hikoru lowered the flames a fraction. "You're really here just to… guard?"

Mieczysław's smile was small and tired. "Someone must. The blood sky has woken many old things. Some of them should stay asleep."

**Crystal Corridor – Lower Levels of Headquarters**

Sebastian Crowe walked through the reinforced hallway with his cane tapping a steady rhythm. The moment the first Bloodnort-related energy surge hit the sensors, the walls around him answered.

Crystal Control.

Pale blue and violet crystals erupted from the floor and ceiling in perfect geometric spikes, forming a living barrier that sealed the corridor in under two seconds. The crystals hummed with contained force, sharp enough to cut through most supernatural defenses.

Sebastian adjusted his glasses.

"Dracula wants a war of blood," he murmured. "I prefer something harder to bleed."

**Kevin's Family Home – Backyard**

Kevin had gone home for the first time in weeks. The red sky made everything look like a crime scene, but the house still smelled like his stepmother's cooking and old wood.

He was sitting on the back steps when the air pressure changed.

A girl stepped out of the shadows near the fence.

She looked like him — same jawline, same dark hair — but older. Nineteen, maybe twenty. Her eyes glowed a deep, bruised violet. Across her collarbone, black geometric lines pulsed like a mirror image of Kevin's white-blue Matrix.

The Dark Matrix.

Keisha Leister, the second Rampager, the sister he had been told was dead.

She stopped a few meters away, hands in the pockets of a long coat.

"Hey, little brother."

Kevin stood slowly. The Mythical Matrix under his shirt flared in answer to hers, white-blue meeting violet-black in the air between them.

"You're supposed to be dead," he said.

Keisha's smile was sharp and tired and almost fond.

"I got better. The Dark Matrix doesn't let you stay buried. Same way yours doesn't let you stay scared." She tilted her head, studying him. "You've grown. You look like someone who actually survived the end of the world."

Kevin's voice came out quieter than he expected. "Why now?"

"Because the blood sky isn't just Bloodnort's doing." Keisha's violet eyes flicked upward. "The Amulet woke something that was sleeping under both our Matrices. Something that wants the two Rampagers in the same place." She took one step closer. "I'm not here to fight you, Kevin. Not yet. I'm here because the last time our powers were this close, the world almost cracked in half. And I think it's about to try again."

The red sky pulsed once, hard, like a heartbeat.

Somewhere far away, Dracula Bloodnort laughed without sound.

Kevin looked at the sister he thought he had lost, the Dark Matrix burning under her skin like a second heart, and understood that the almost-normal days were officially over for good.
