Before long, Peter arrived at the headquarters of Parker Tech.
The location was actually a prime piece of real estate belonging to the Osborn family; to support Peter and his own son, Norman had simply handed over the entire office building to Peter and Harry with a casual wave of his hand.
Herman (Shocker) and Dr. Connors were currently there, engrossed in their respective research. The former was now in charge of optimizing the mobile operating system.
It had to be said—Herman was a buried genius. Once he joined Parker Tech, provided with ample time and funding, and no longer crushed by the desperation of daily survival, Herman began to soak up knowledge like a parched sponge.
In less than a week, he had taught himself programming, software engineering, and system architecture.
Looking at Herman, who was sporting two massive dark circles under his eyes, Peter worried the man might actually drop dead from overwork.
He quickly used the Horse Talisman to give Herman a deep physical "tune-up." Touched by the gesture, Herman's respect for his boss reached new heights. Where else on earth could he find a boss who cared this much?
After reminding Herman to take care of himself, Peter took the elevator to the top floor. This entire level had been allocated to Dr. Connors for the development of the "Healing Serum."
Peter and Norman's plan was simple: have Connors refine the serum, then dilute the potency into specific tiers—1%, 5%, 20%, and 30%.
The lower concentrations would tackle daily illnesses and age-related cardiovascular issues, while the higher ones would handle incurable diseases and limb regeneration.
Once a universal healing serum hit the market, Parker Tech and Oscorp would surpass Stark Industries as the world's leading commercial titans in minutes.
After a brief chat with Connors to confirm the animal trials were stabilizing, Peter moved to his private lab to begin his study of Electro's genetics.
Having assisted Connors with the Decay Rate Algorithm and the baseline Lizard Serum, Peter was quite adept at handling gene sequencing.
Results came quickly. He confirmed that the segments of Max Dillon's DNA responsible for absorbing and discharging electrical energy were indeed replicable and transferable.
In theory, Peter only needed to extract those specific fragments and splice them into his own genetic code. Normally, this would be a death sentence.
Having already undergone the Lizard Serum integration, a second major gene transplant would trigger a catastrophic conflict. His DNA would collapse, turning him into a deformed monster or killing him instantly.
But!
Peter, protected by the Horse Talisman, was an exception to the rule. Genetic collapse? Mutations? Take it up with my noble Horse, he thought.
Spending the entire night using Connors' custom gene extractor, Peter successfully isolated the relevant sequences and synthesized a vibrant "Electro-Serum."
Without animal testing or safety protocols, Peter jammed the syringe directly into his neck. The crude, violent method made Dr. Connors' brow twitch in horror. Magic really does make one reckless...
As the serum entered his system, Peter felt a violent shift. However, thanks to his existing superhuman constitution, the pain wasn't enough to make him lose his composure as it had during the first injection.
He watched as reptilian features flickered across his skin—but this time, they were wreathed in crackling, blinding arcs of electricity.
The normally dark green scales turned a brilliant, glowing blue. Just as a terrified Dr. Connors considered running for his life, the Horse Talisman flared. A hazy white light enveloped Peter, and the physical mutations began to recede at high speed.
A minute later, the light faded. Peter looked completely normal again. However, as the light vanished, a stream of information surged into his mind.
The Horse Talisman was sending him a warning: his genetic modification had reached its limit. Without the Tiger Talisman to balance the conflicting primal forces within him, he had hit a ceiling.
If he injected a third gene—say, a transgenic feline sequence—the Horse Talisman could only maintain two sets of powers at once.
He would have to choose between keeping Electric + Lizard, Electric + Cat, or Lizard + Cat. The discarded power would be lost forever.
"Reasonable," Peter muttered. "Maintaining two distinct sets of powers is already the Horse Talisman, forcing a cheat code. I can't ask for more yet."
I wonder when I'll get the Tiger Talisman... I'd gladly pay double or triple the 10,000-point price for a 'pick-your-own' option.
Shaking off those distant thoughts, he turned his focus to his new toy. "Time to figure out how to release this energy. Let's see if I can develop a Lightning Style: Rasengan or a Lightning Style: Chakra Mode."
Peter stepped to the window and opened it. With a roar of wind, the Glider hovered before him. Peter pressed his hand against the Glider's electronic pulse cannon. Within seconds, his body was wreathed in blinding blue arcs.
"Alright. I'm fully charged!"
