CHAPTER 73: THE FIRST DATE

I changed my outfit four times.
I want to be clear that this is not because I care. I change the first outfit because the collar is too stiff and I am going to be sitting across a table from someone for an extended period and stiff collars are objectively uncomfortable regardless of context. I change the second because Aria walks past the doorway and raises one eyebrow at the colour and I refuse to spend an entire evening second-guessing a colour choice. I change the third because it is too formal and this is not a formal occasion, it is dinner, it is just dinner, and I am not going to dress like I am attending a board meeting simply because a man asked me to eat food with him in a restaurant.
The fourth outfit I keep because I run out of time and Liam knocks on the door at exactly seven o'clock and I am not going to be the person who makes someone wait at the door.
"You look nice," he says when I open it.
