Theo's POV
I was sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting quietly. The room was dimly lit by a small lamp on the nightstand. I had changed into comfortable clothes after a long day and was thinking about everything that had happened. When Jax finally came back to our room, I could tell right away how heavy the day had been for him.
He looked tired. His shoulders were slightly slumped, and his eyes carried the weight of worry for his little brother. I knew Jax very well. He always tried to be strong for William, but deep down, he was scared and anxious. He wanted to protect his brother from everything, but this situation with the heat and Ethan was something he could not fully control.
Jax walked over to me without saying a word. He lay down on the bed and gently rested his head on my lap. I smiled, and started running my fingers through his hair. I tapped and stroked it slowly in the way he always liked. It was a small thing, but it usually helped him relax and feel calmer.
