Chapter 3 - Episode 3 – Shadows of the Past

Ariya Verma thought she was safe. She thought leaving her stepfather Vikram and mother Meena behind meant escaping the constant fear that had haunted her life. But safety, she realized, was only an illusion.

It started with small things—strange messages on her phone, mysterious shadows outside the windows, and the uneasy feeling that someone was always watching. Ariya tried to hide it, tried to act normal, but Arnav noticed immediately.

"You're tense," he said one evening, his piercing gaze catching her off guard. "Something is wrong. Tell me."

Ariya hesitated. She didn't want to worry him. But the unease in her chest was too strong. "I… I think they're trying to find me," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Arnav's expression hardened. He stood abruptly and moved to the balcony, scanning the darkened grounds below. "Your mother and stepfather… they've never let go. And now, they know where you are. But don't worry—no one will touch you while I'm here."

Before Ariya could respond, a sudden noise at the gate made her heart skip a beat. Arnav moved faster than she could follow, opening the door with precision and stepping outside. Shadows lurked near the entrance—figures moving in the dark—but Arnav's presence alone seemed to command them.

"They won't make it past me," he muttered, his voice low, cold, and dangerous. "Ever."

That night, Ariya couldn't sleep. She thought about her life, the cruelty of her mother and stepfather, and the first time she had felt real safety with Arnav. Sitting alone in her room, she realized something unexpected—she trusted him completely, more than anyone in her life.

The next morning, Arnav trained her—not with weapons, but with confidence, awareness, and strength. "You need to know how to protect yourself," he said, his tone firm. "Fear can be beaten, but only if you're ready."

Ariya nodded, feeling a spark of empowerment. For the first time, fear didn't completely control her. And every time she looked at Arnav, she felt it—a quiet, growing connection, something deeper than gratitude, something that scared and excited her all at once.

Even in the shadow of danger, Ariya began to understand one truth: with Arnav Malhotra as her guardian, she wasn't alone—and maybe, just maybe, she could survive everything her past tried to throw at her.
